  1. Hi, guys I recently switched to the paleo diet and am having trouble finding meals that are easy and paleo. Any advice?
  2. I am starting on IF and have seen everywhere people are skipping breakfast and working out in the afternoon. I cannot do that and want to workout in the morning (6am because of work), is it still beneficial if I quit eating at 3 and eat right after my workout so 730-8am? Thank you!!!

I got a big sack of oatmeal from the food bank, so tried making some oatmeal with soy sauce, bacon bits, scallions and a fried egg. It was very excellent. Like congee, only with oats. I'm also eyeballing the "bananas Foster and nuts" angle...

    [PALEO] Bigos

    Hey! I wanted to share a recipe for a traditional Polish dish which also happens to be Paleo and delicious. It's called bigos (pronunced bee-gohz) and it's sometimes referred to as the hunter's stew. Preparing it takes some time, but it's definitely worth it. This is what it looks like: You can find a recipe here. If you don't eat meat, simply don't add it. It tastes awesome anyway! Smacznego!
  5. Greetings! So, I'm on my second respawn as a Rebel, and things are going relatively well. I started out recording all my food and exercise in my battle log, and am trying to make small, sustainable changes based on that. I've had some success in changing my breakfast habits (especially drinking less sugary stuff in the morning) and prepping lunches in advance has helped both my body and my wallet. But when I get to dinner. I'm a pretty scheduled person, and I do a lot of rehearsing for theatre and voice lessons at night. Since I also take transit, I often have to book it straight from work (I work 9-5 in an office) to whatever class or lesson I've got that evening. Most of these projects run until 10 or so, by which time I've either: - not eaten dinner, in which case I'm a grumpy mess and liable to just nuke perogies or stuff my face when I get home or - eaten some crap that was nearby, usually pub food or sushi. I'm managing to prep one meal a day, but two seems a little beyond my reach. Any advice for a rebel on the go? Cori
  6. Hey guys! Does anyone have good ideas for food that makes good leftovers? I'm a student and I work part time, so I'll often have either no time or large chunks of time in which to make food. I'm trying to make more food as it's easier to go paleo and it's cheaper that way, so what are your favourite meals to make that can be made in bulk and reheated? There's a microwave at work and at uni, so that's good, but I don't have one at home, so it makes reheating take more time at night. Things that are good cold work, too.

Step two: Cooked potato and 1/3 c of milk in a food processor, then everything else in a food processor. Sprinkle the pan with corn flour and drop the batter onto it. I can't wait to meet you all and show you a couple of my fave places in my beloved Des Moines Date: Saturday, March 1st (time TBD) We will start off at: Brenton Skating Plaza 520 Robert D Ray Dr Des Moines, IA 50309-1824 We're obviously going ice skating, and Brenton is an outdoor skating arena, so wear several layers and bring plenty of gloves, hats, scarves, etc. Also, it costs $6 for admission and $3.50 for ice skate rentals. However, if there are 10 or more people, it will only cost $7 per person. This is one reason that it would be fantastic for everyone to commit as soon as possible, so I know what kind of numbers we're looking at, but either way, no big deal. For more information about Brenton, check out: http://brentonplaza.com/ We will then be going to my favorite restaurant, Zombie Burger The food's delicious, it's a really fun atmosphere and it's undoubtedly one of a kind. The restaurant is literally two blocks away from the skating plaza and has been my hangout spot since it opened in August 2011. They also have really creative shakes, spiked shakes and a full bar. I would suggest finding a hotel near the airport, which is about 10 minutes away from the East Village, where we'll be spending our time. There are some very nice hotels in downtown DM, but they will be pricier. One of my partner's favourite meals has been Chicken and Leek pie since my Mum gave me a recipe book with it in, but since I've started trying to eat paleo I've not been able to find a suitable replacement that didn't involve finding somewhere to get coconut flour or attempting to make paleo pastry, and he's had to go without. Well, I had enough of depriving him of his favourite meal so I just, made it up! It's not really a traditional pie, but it'd damned tasty and I think someone out there will enjoy it. [Paleo] Chicken and Leek Pie-lets. 1x Chicken Breast A handful of spring onions OR 1/2 a Leek Thyme 1 tsp Arrowroot powder 1x 165mL of coconut milk 6x Bacon rashers Olive oil Ghee or butter Almond meal Cook off your chicken breast however you want. The original pie recipe called for poaching, but mine were pre-baked and I just grabbed it out of the fridge. Anyway, cut it up into small parts once it's cooked to your liking. Cut up and cook off your spring onion / leek in some olive oil and ghee (original recipe was butter so go for it if you're not trying to be strict; this can also be left out though I guess.) until it's sauteed nicely. Once it is, tip in some Thyme and your arrowroot powder and make sure it's mixed through your spring onion, then add your coconut milk. The pan doesn't need to be too hot for this because it will bubble up and then thicken quite quickly. Add your chicken breast to the sauce and mix through. That's your pie filling done. Now grab some bacon and a cupcake pan and use the bacon as the pie base. I ripped into the middle of the bacon rasher so I could make it into a cone shape and put it in the cupcake tin. One rasher fits quite nicely. Fill the bases with your filling until you've got none left. Sprinkle a little bit of almond meal and some salt and pepper on top of your pies for a bit of a crust and bake them for around 10 minutes. EAT THEM WITH JOY.
  10. Hello all! I wake up at 5:00 AM, throw on clothes while half asleep, and 10 minutes after my alarm goes off I am warming up for my workout. Since I am beginning a new program to get me to a 10K (currently run over 3 miles/5K every other morning), I would like to know if anyone can recommend some nutrition tips for morning workouts. My New Years Resolution is to stop eating 2-3 hours before bed, I have done very well so far. Boredom eating is a problem of mine. Having said that, I have noticed that my workouts are suffering a little because basically I am hungry. Any ideas?????
  11. So I have this friend that has been working out and trying to get fit and I think I've almost convinced her to eat Paleo, or at least stick her toe in the water! She wants some easy yummy paleo recipes she can whip up for dinner because who wants to spend all night cooking dinner? I dunno about you guys but I'm hungry when I get home from work and I wanna eat! So I'm hoping you paleo's can give us some recipes that are tried tested and true to be both delicious and efficient (fast). I'm thinking the key to success might be cooking in advance and then it either being something that can be eaten cold or is a quick reheat, but don't limit the recipes to that! Thanks!!!
