  1. I'm trying to figure out what race I am, but I don't know many races, where can I learn about them? Is there an article on NF? Or some link to an RPG page? I'm not that familiar with RPGs, so any help would be appreciated.
  2. I live in a world full of uncertainties. People are unpredictable. Privacy is becoming theoretical. And my king has fallen. My name is Durak the Determined. I am an Orc living in the nation of Miralda. There was recently an uprising against our benevolent, Dwarven ruler, King Rorek of Reihorn. Now, the Elves, a race that has always coveted the highest of powers, sit on Miralda’s thrones as conquerors. They have sent out the order to hunt down and slaughter every human they can find, in an effort to eradicate the Dwarves strongest supporters. I always feared what would become of an Orc living peacefully with civilization. Now, civilization has given way to conquest - making this land feel more like the Orc stronghold I fled. Times are uncertain. Will my nation's history lead to more war? Will I be able to protect the ones I call family? My Orc brothers have called me soft for living a life of peace. But I believe that a wise man must never seek out war. But I swear on my sideburns, I will be prepared for it. Welcome to my third consecutive challenge! The paragraph you just read holds significant meaning to this challenge, and I’ll explain why in a moment. First off, let me catch you up on where I started, and how far I have come in the last two challenges. I started off fat, lazy, and fat. Yes, I said fat twice. That’s just for emphasis. But over the last two challenges, I’ve come so far. I have an idea of what I need to be doing now. I know what foods to cut down on, and what to start eating. I have a workout plan that I know I can stick to. I have determination! And that’s what’s going to win me this battle. I may still be fat (and fat.) But laziness is no longer a significant trait of mine. And I am thrilled to be able to say so. The last two challenges have been all about gaining both momentum and perception. And I believe I can start working for physical results. So without further ado… MAIN QUEST: I have tasked myself to become one who is worthy of the Assassin’s guild. The Objectives this time around are going to be a little more specific than the loose goals I have had in the past. They’re going to be stricter and a little harder. After all, this is level three! This ain’t World 1-1 anymore. OBJECTIVES: 1. Six days a week, I will exercise with my brand new eight-pound medicine ball. But I am going to eventually start looking for fun ways to mix up working out with this ball. 2. Beginning on April 29th, I will start a membership at the local rock-climbing gym, and conquer the wall I failed to conquer last challenge. Only this time, I’m going to seek to conquer it within two weeks. 3. Drinking water is not something I have ever liked doing. However, I am going to start drinking 3 glasses of water a day, and aim to reach 6 glasses by the end of the challenge. Bonus points if I make it to 9! Now, I’m sure that you’re wondering about that paragraph at the top of this thread. Well, if you’ve followed my past threads, you probably know that I want to make a comic. I’ve been working on a storyline for a good year now. The introductory paragraph describes an Orc living in the times that the immediately precedes my comic. I thought I would give you a taste of it. That said, my life goal is the same as it was before. LIFE GOAL: Complete the planning stage, and begin work on the production stage of the comic. I look forward to these next six-weeks. Let’s see what happens!
  3. This is to serve as my daily diary as I make myself battle ready to reclaim the depths of Moria from the creatures that now dwell there. A few starting figures: I'm 178cm (about 5'10") and weighed in this morning at 138.4kg, so morbidly obese. I'm also weak and feeble. And the main reason I describe myself as a dwarf is a naturally stocky build and short stumpy legs (as well as a fondness for single malt scotch and naturally brewed ales). So I have to make myself combat ready. I will be doing this to start with by completing almost entirely bodyweight workouts, then transitioning this into gymnastics training combined with lifting heavy. ill have to pay for a gym membership to get the lifting done though. First step for now though: 1unassisted pull-up and 1 unassisted chin-up. Day one of this quest has good reasonably well, I kept my diet clean (so far) and I managed to complete my first basic bodyweight workout. All I have to say about that is: I hate lunges. That and Steve is clearly a sick sick man to come up with that workout. Tomorrow is a cardio day. Have to figure out what that means on nightshift, but I'll see how it works out.
  4. Here goes... I have attached my starting picture, taken last weekend 7/27/13 at the Bronx Zoo. I'm the lady, the cutie is my husband. I don't have many pictures of just myself lately because it's embarrassing. Race and Class: I am 30 years old, 5'3'' tall and weigh 175 pounds. I've decided to be a Dwarf Ranger. I've been doing cross-fit style activities daily (and I do mean every single day) for nearly 8 months now, and eating clean (with varying degrees of success) for five months. I'm down 15 pounds since December and am currently fitter than I have ever been in my life, so I'm already on my way. Main Quest: Fit into a size 12 pant. I'm 14-16 right now, depending on the pant. Three Goals: 1. Walk 10,000 steps a day minimum. (+1 Stamina) 2. Have at least 1 vegetable snack a day (I already eat veggies with lunch and dinner, so I'm trying to sneak more in.) (+1 Constitution) 3. Remember. To. Stretch. I skip this step a lot after my workouts, and I'm going to pay for it if I don't change the habit.(+1 Dexterity) Motivation: I'll tell you right now, it's not vanity or insecurity with how I look. That ship has sailed. My main motivation is not feeling like a 70 year old woman whenever I move around. I have back and knee problems and general aches and pains that make me feel ancient. This is ridiculous. Since starting work with a virtual coach/buddy of mine my pain has lessened considerably, but there is so much further to go. Then there's the high cholesterol thing and not wanting to die when I'm 50. Side Quest: Find a new job. I believe I am about to succeed at this in a major way, which would be awesome. I write grants for a living and raise money for non-profits. It's the best work ever. The only problem with my current job is that due to restructuring my position is being eliminated. Yay development! (+1 Charisma) Loot: Battle Gear. I had to add this idea once I saw it. Who doesn't like rewards? My Loot will be this custom made t-shirt. I need more t-shirts now that the old ones are getting too big! Nerd Cred: Science fiction (Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, If you don't know about Buggalo you should go watch Futurama.) RPGs (loving Diablo 3 right now) Comic books (old school X-men + current titles ''X-Factor'', ''Wolverine and the X-Men'', ''X-Men Volume 4.'' Board Games - Munchkin, Marvel Legendary, Settlers, etc. General love of knowledge So that's it, I guess. That's where I begin.
  5. Well Hello there. My name is Seth Rue. I am a nerd. I am going to college for I.T. and Mathematics. I am 21 years old, 5'10" and severely over weight. I want to begin my walk towards a healthier lifestyle, and am using NF and a group of friends at home to make it happen. My main reason for this is because I already enjoy life as it is, but I miss out on a lot of the cool stuff that my friends do simply because I lack the ability to do it. So my thoughts are, think of all the wonderful adventures that are awaiting me out there that I can experience if only I take a little action. My task is not to lose a predetermined amount of weight, or fit into a certain size of clothes, though I think that will come. I simply wish to change my habits to ones that make me a healthier, happier person. I want to go on walks because nature is fun too look at. I want to cook food that is delicious and healthy. I want to ride a bike and feel the wind all around me. I want to be able to hang out with friends and finish the hike that we go on. I believe that I can Level up my life, and I hope that I can do it alongside of all of you.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm Natalie or Nata. I've struggled with weightloss for about as long as I can remember - as most efforts die out when they cease to be fun and I end up putting the weight back on. So my plan is changing. I like the idea of tracking my progress as an RP character - so that's what I'm going to do. I will be giving my character the freedom to multi-class at any time and in any number of classes. This will help keep my adventure fun. I hail from the eastern side of Washington state. I'm happily married and have a daring cat, Kaylee (she likes shiny things), who would have you believe she is a dog (plays fetch, goes on leashed walks, greets you at the door...) Hobbies: tatting [the lace kind not the ink kind], crochet, costuming, writing, reading, singing, gaming, learning new skills, gardening, etc... Activities: flagging, dancing, hiking, biking, trying something new Fandoms: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, Avatar, Harry Potter, Firefly, Castle Crashers, Zelda, Munchkin, pretty much anything Sci Fi/Fantasy ... My RP character {I'll work up a traditional character sheet later}: Name: Nata the Bardic Dragon Tracker Gender: Female Age: 28 Height: 5'9" Weight: 291.5 lbs Race: Half-Elf, Quarter-Dwarf, Quarter-Ifrit Favored Class: Bard Other Classes: Ranger, Druid I am a Half-Elf, Quarter-Dwarf, Quarter-Ifrit (nationality wise I am a mutt - so I figured race wise, my character should be too). I have some of the elvish height, the big boned build of the dwarf, and the pyro-tendancies of an Ifrit. My favored class is Bard: I love all things musical. I play several instruments, sing, tell stories, and enjoy a multitude of craft skills. I know enough in a lot of different things to get me into trouble, but not enough to claim master level in many things. I have been working on leveling in the Ranger class. Each year I do a local 12k and three of the four previous years I have walked half-marathons. I have an elliptical that I try to clock a few miles on daily. I have also been working on leveling in Druid, mostly in the knowledge nature realm. I am currently planning out my garden (just moved into a house with a yard for it). I also want to get back into a yoga and meditation routine. I also continue my Bardic training in dance (Dance Central, Zumba,...) and flagging (dance routines or free dance involving my fire shaped flags). As well as my crafting hobbies (tatting [lace not tattoos], crochet,...) and musical hobbies (guitar, violin, and voice). Physically, I am a Bard that has found a prosperous location and settled. Growing fat as she practices her trade. I currently carry the extra weight of a dwarf on me. As such, I am working on leveling up my exercise routine and cleaning up my diet. I am currently on the hunt for dragons and the tracks I am following lead me to believe that I will have another 10 miles to go before I reach one. [i've set up a reward system where I get to tat one lace dragon for every 25 miles I walk/jog/run for a costume I am working on]. I look forward to meeting many of you in my adventures!
