    Terah dives in

Time to shake things up a little! I'm getting bored with kcal counting (probably going to do it again in the future but not this challenge) And I'm not going to make zumba part of the challenge. Because it's a challenge NOT to go to zumba This challenge I'm going to dive in: I'm going to swim again! I've been swimming a lot when I was a kid an as an early teen. I loved it. I stopped because I started to turn into a woman (in stead of a girl, somehow I believe I need to clarify that here ), with all the changes and difficulties that brings in regarding to swimming. And now that I'm teaching my 5 year old son A to swim, I really want to go swim myself again. My goals for this challenge Food: Eat clean I'm going to eat clean. I'm allowing myself 5 treat meals throughout the entire challenge. That can be anything: a pizza, fries, ice cream, chocolate... But it has to be instead of a meal or snack that I would normally have. I usually have 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. When I'm really hungry i add a third snack, and when I'm not hungry I skip a snack. I'll use this as a guideline If I eat more than 4 treat meals every extra treat meal will cost me €5,- per serving. This money will go into the idiot jar. The contents will be donated to the kids savings accounts. This goal is either pass or fail Exercise: Swim! Go to the pool to swim by myself at least 4 times This goal is either pass or fail Life: Keep using the Bullet Journal It's been helping me a lot to get things done. And to give me peace of mind. Goal: Use it at least 5 days a week This goal is either pass or fail Extra goal: Keep an eye on the scale Scale, got it? I need to keep closer track of my weight if I'm not going to count kcal, so I can adjust if needed. So I'm gong to weight myself once a week, and NO MORE For each time I weigh myself in between I will put €5,- in the idiot jar The money in it will go to the kids savings accounts Pretty spreadsheet Reward Three passes New bathing suit. (Maybe not this one, but I'll find something pretty before the challenge ends )
  2. I'll fill on more details here over the next few days but I just wanted to get something down now so I'm 'pot committed' to the next challenge. I've been away from the boards for a long long time but I feel now is right for me to make my return: on September 17th I will be taking part in a Tough Mudder so in preparation for this Epic Quest goal, I'm going to throw down with my old pals in the Assassins guild and partake in a four week challenge to get myself straightened out. My goals will be: 1. Eat clean- no more sugar loaded crap, no more unhealthy snacks, no more liquid calories. (before the challenge starts I'll work out how I'm going to quantify this). 2. Start running- I'm not a cardio kind of guy preferring to stick with my bodyweight strength training for ny calorie burning however a Tough Mudder is going to require at least some sort of running about so I'm going to have to get used to it. I'm going to aim low and just try one run per week at this point however in future I think I'll have to make this more frequent. For the purpose of this challenge though, I want to just make a start on it. 3. Plyometrics- I do a lot of pushups and pullups and squats but nothing requiring sudden bursts of movements. My goal therfore is to do at least one work out each week that involves plyometric explosive movements. 4. For my life goal I'm going to do something entirely unrelated and start playing the guitar again. It's been at least 5 years since I rocked the axe and I really miss it at times so I'm going to commit to doing 3 hours of guitar practice every week. I'm going to keep a log of how long I play each day and hopefully it'll add up to 3 hours by the end of week. I'll fill in more details later and possible added some pictures and stuff to make this more exciting but this is me committing to the next challenge- I can't walk out of it now!
  3. Coping through Hoping “What do you want out of life? That is your hope.†I've been stressing over my actions and decisions without bothering to take the time to pin down exactly what ends I hope to accomplish in life. This... is madness... and also exhausting! Time to slow down, calm down, and find my inner peace. Enter my new challenge: MAIN QUEST: Discover Hope. Goals: 1. Awaken to Hope I've scheduled a date every morning at 6:00 am for the next six weeks with God. This is where I connect with Hope and awaken to possibilities. It's time to see myself through God's eyes and ask that He establish my ways. Maybe I'll get some clarity on future plans here... and if not, there is still peace to be won! 2. Gloved Shovel I've seen too many posts about people working with sledgehammers to NOT attempt it. The shovelglove website recommends 14 minutes a day. Week one will find me at half that – 7 minutes, 3 times a week - adding minutes through the challenge as I feel ready. Oh, and I'm using a ten pounder to start out. 3. Meal Manifesto Last challenge I did 21 days gluten, dairy, and sugar free and saw no relief from my stomach / GI issues. I've since read that it could take months, not weeks, to clear up my digestive trouble. That challenge now continues, with a few more suspicious foods cut from my diet. I'll also be journaling to record my food and feelings. Life Quest: 1. Authoring Hope I really benefit from writing: putting pen to paper helps me think through problems and is inspiring. I will write every night to remind myself that my hope is in Christ. Hope doesn't rise or fall on my own failures and shortcomings. Motivation: God can comfort my heart and establish me. (2Th 2:16-17 ESV) “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.â€
  4. I have been thinking about this for a little while and will think on it some more to finesse the finer details.
  5. We have been trying to do Paleo since about April. We have been about70% compliant with a few weekend bingers while on vacation. I am having a hard time with pre-workout meals/energy. I don't think I am getting enough food in (well I know Im not). I have a hard time cooking meals for lunch because I have an over-energized 1 year old LOL. Im not big on veggies, I am trying to get more in, learn to cook them. like them etc. Question is this...I do Crossfit 1-2 times a week. How bad is it to add in a piece of bread or a tortilla as part of my meals on Crossfit days to help with the carb boost?
