  1. Just tossing a line out to see if there is anyone in the Jacsonville, FL or Mayport, FL areas.
  2. Hello everyone. I just signed up for the Academy and I just started Crossfit a month ago here in Fort Myers, FL. All my recent reading has lead me to believe that Crossfit is a great way to start back on the road to getting into excellent overall physical condition but that it can sometimes be unbalanced as well as using what could be some dangerous workouts and/or combinations of workouts. I would like to see if anyone live in or near Fort Myers that would like to start a small Nerd Fitness group to help keep each other accountable and talk about fitness, etc. in an effort to keep each other balanced and on track.
  3. Greetings friends, Jen of Arc's Origin Story is here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/user/43780-jen-of-arc/ I live on the Space Coast of Florida. I share an island with a few thousand other people and the Kennedy Space Center, where my husband nerds for a living. My first 6-week challenge as a recruit is here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/71448-jen-of-arc-joins-the-battle/ I work as a part-time editor and writer and have the dubious distinction of holding two B.A.'s, in English and History, but no teaching degree, which makes me a questionable contributor to the realm, at the best of times. In an effort to level-up my karma, I'm about to become a first-time foster mom--like any day now. It is ten kinds of crazy, but true. Running used to be my thing, but it just doesn't work for me like it used to. I found NF's articles about bodyweight training, so that's where I'm starting. I really should lose 50 pounds, but I'm starting with a goal of 10, by way of my three quests: to walk daily, eat only whole foods and no sugar until 5 p.m., with no snacks after dinner, and do a bodyweight workout three times a week. I just want to live a healthier, longer life. Joan of Arc is an inspiration to me because she held on to her beliefs no matter what. It may sound selfish to the old me (I'm a recovering Southern Baptist), but I want to believe that strongly in myself and my ability to accomplish my own goals and make my realm a better place for the next generation. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more!
  4. We fight or we die!!! That's the plan! Ok, sorry that was such a dramatic entrance. But it is kind of true for me even though I doubt it'll be death by reapers. More like an early death by obesity, drinking too much, not moving around enough. And life is awesome so who wants that? On to the real plan!!! Main Quest To wear a size 7 again. My N7 suit doesn't fit anymore and they don't make them in a 14. My Goals Hit the gym for 20 minutes 3 times a week. Eat paleo from breakfast to lunch at very least. Hit the yoga studio or the gaiam videos at least 2 times a week. Life Quest Move to Portland. Florida is a blazing inferno of hot and my family needs change. Mainly the median age level kind of change. My Motivation Adding as many life points to my health bar as possible so I can be with little clan of people for as long as possible. I am so excited to have found this site. It is like kismet since I just started trying to not feel like crap again. Hugs and wish me success!
  5. So, I am looking for an adventure sometime Memorial weekend(or the Wednesday before). Only problem being, I am tight on cash and I don't know what to do. Okay, that is a lie, I've looked up horse back riding and kayaking/canoeing but I don't know if I have anyone to go with, and I don't know if I want to adventure alone. So, if there is anyone looking for some fun times this weekend that isn't too expensive and around the Tampa Bay Area let me know.
  6. Hello, all! I'm JP from Saint Petersburg. I just moved here from Los Angeles, and joined Anytime Fitness. I really like the gym. It's my first ever membership and, though I've always been "active", I feel great after joining. I developed a three-day workout based upon the knowledge that I've found here on Nerd Fitness. Looking forward to utilizing the site more as time goes on. Cheers!
  7. http://cfthrowdown.com/ Anyone in the area that wants to compete or watch some great strongman and crossfit. Come on out! Downtown Lakeland is pretty cool and September is not a bad time in Florida! Looks like there will be a crossfit comp and Strongman. Should be a great time...
  8. I have become a mud run junkie! I sign up for these things while I am still on the adrenaline rush from the previous one. Then the week before the run I start to question my own sanity for signing up for these things. My latest break from sanity caused me to sign up for The Savage Race coming up in April just north of Tampa, FL. Any other Nerd Fitness people attending? If so would you be interested in signing up as a team to get the team discount? Perhaps even meeting up before or after the run just to get to know other fitness minded nerds in the area? Note: Signing up as a team does not mean we have to run together, I am perfectly okay with being left in the dust by more fit team members.
