Hey All...so here's what I want... I want to eat food that will give me the energy I need to teach all day after working out in the morning, taste good, will encourage the burning of fat, maybe help with muscle repair and DOMS (is it true bananas do that?) but don't want to starve myself and lose muscle as well. Lets pretend that I am a food noob... as in: 1)what the hell does protein actually do, and 2) how much of it should I be eating, and 3) do I REALLY need a protein shake WHILE i'm working out? I am a Lady, I weigh 225# (down about 10lbs from a year ago when I started, yay! but the muscle is where i'm seeing the weight these days, becoming more toned etc... so the number on the scale isn't really a priority for me...), I do crossfit and lifting 3 days a week (at 5am, on an empty stomach), sports massage on my friday to help my muscles recover over the weekend, then i'm back at it on monday... I can't do dairy because I haven't been able to stomach milk since quitting my sugar addiction several months ago... I will occasionally take a Lactase pill so I can have ice cream, but in general, i'm a meat and veggies sort of eater... very few processed grains (may have pizza every two weeks or a burger with a bun sometimes..sushi is another...but i'm worried because I heard soy was bad...) What websites would people recommend to give me consistent health/nutritional information? I feel like every website I've gone to has some sort of agenda, and they all say different things and swear that their information is the right information...but I really just want to know how my body uses what I eat, and when I put things in my mouth, what is going to benefit or be hurt by it? I see warriors like Seth eating like, massive amounts of ice cream and oreo cookies, and then others on the zone or paleo diets and living off of plantain chips... is sugar from fruits really that awful? should I REALLY only eat half a banana? I think maybe I just read SO MUCH information saying "eat this, don't eat that", that I start worrying about everything I eat because somewhere...someone is saying it is good...and somewhere else, someone is saying it is bad... yeah...I need some help. :-P who wants to tackle my food noobishness? you know you want to!
