  1. Welcome, my fellow nerds, to my eighth step in a healthier direction! I've been keeping my focus on small habits to practice consistency since my history of falling out with exercise stems from losing momentum. I also want to avoid burnout, so I'm doing my best to make my goals fun. Apparently (based on the length of what I've composed here) more fun means more details? lol XD For context: I've been playing various iterations of Animal Crossing for 15+ years, and last fall Cid gave me the Switch version New Horizons. I anticipated the immediate obsessive reaction I would have to playing it, so I postponed until I finally started it a little over a week ago. One of the new features I like in this new version is the Nook Miles+ Rewards that give you a bonus reward for doing the first five tasks, and if you want to continue playing, more rewards without a bonus will spawn as you complete the tasks in hand. Ahead, I've got a list of the Nook Miles+ Reward challenge names from ACNH, a list of the exercises done in the plaza of ACNH, and all my numerous wordy thoughts on how I intend to adapt the challenges into my own goals so that if I put them all on Index cards and shuffle them into a deck I'll have a random draw of which five goals will get a double point bonus for getting done. XD I'm sharing the list of the tasks so that anyone can pick as they please. My picks are whichever I can pair with my personal goals. If you join me in this ACNH-themed 5-week challenge, you are neither limited to my selected tasks nor to my interpretations of what I do to accomplish them. Tbh, I am not entirely sure the list is complete despite being found online since I noticed a few missing, and tacked them on at the end. Even so it's pretty long. The first thing that made me consider this theme for my 5-week challenge was the stretching that can be done as a daily activity in game. I want to scale back my goals so that I have a daily goal to do that warm-up first thing in the morning, and/or last thing at night. I don't have the ability to do it in the video game because I don't have the joy cons, but I do have the ability to do the exercises without the game giving me credit for it. So I've compiled the list of stretches used in the little exercise. That being said, I already know I'm including the "Stretch to Refresh" challenge because it's already a goal I want to accomplish every day - even if I don't pull the index card. It can be a warm-up for other exercises, but I am going to consider just doing these warm-ups their own goal in attempt to promote motion. I will keep track of my daily streak in my attempt to do the stretches every day. My next thought is the fact that my coloring project I originally included as one of my crafty options for my Artificer goals *never* got touched in all of January. But I *do* want to color and draw. My solution is to disguise it in a less daunting facade. I'm using "Chop Down a Tree" as a goal to sharpen one pencil. That puts me in the place where I can use said pencils. In the same theme, "Plant a tree" would be a challenge to draw something, and "Plant a fruit tree" would be to color something. I could also include "Chop 10 Wood" as a journal prompt or letter-writing assignment. "Talk to 3 neighbors" immediately goes into the ranks with little creative thought needed. So long as I make contact with three friends by the end of the day, this goal will be met. To be honest, that's a very necessary goal at this time. I can try spreading it out to one per mealtime if reaching out to three at once seems daunting. I'll include the DIY project challenges, but strangely enough, not for my quilt. XD I'm thinking "Make 3 DIY projects" could be writing for 30 minutes (maybe in sprint mode), and "Customize 2 things" could be editing for 20 minutes (or contemplative writing). That way I get started on the second draft. It's not going to revise itself. XD I *do* want to include my quilt as a goal, though. I think it'd be a good match with "Pop a Balloon" (because needles and pins are sharp?), and the goal could be to get a thread's length of quilting done. "Sell 10 Seashells" fits with an activity I've already been spending some time doing: sifting through my phone's gallery, trying to delete the excessive hoards of saved images. I'll also apply "Sell 20 Weeds" to this task because I move files around while I sift through them. "Sell 20 weeds" is moving 20 images to trash or folders, and "Sell 10 shells" is moving 10 to trash. Another aspect of sifting through my folders of pictures is sharing them. "Sell 5 fruits" can be sharing 5 pictures with friends. "Sell a hot item" could be sharing a picture on Facebook. I feel like the goals for catching bugs and fish would be a funny way to get points for eating fruits and vegetables. The goal of catching 5 fish would be to have an abundance of vegetables at my meal. The goal of catching 1 fish could be to go and get an unusual veggie (we almost always have carrots, onions, or bell peppers, but we do like plenty of other veggies that a diverse array is viable... potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, celery, asparagus, salads, corn, etc.) Likewise, for fruit, catching 5 bugs would be to have an abundance of fruit, and catching 1 bug would be to get one that I don't usually have on hand (I love so many fruits, that it's basically anything except apples which I almost always grab for an addition to my lunches). "Water 8 flowers" should definitely be to use my enormous Hufflepuff cauldron mug for my water. XD That thing hydrates like magic. But I don't know what "Planting 3 flowers" would be in that sense, so it may not make it into the challenge. That fine - it wouldn't be the only challenge that I liked but didn't have a goal to align the challenge with. I haven't made any of my index cards yet. 18 things to do is a lot, but I wonder if I might just get standard points for each task until I have made the index cards? Can't get a x2 bonus until there's an index card to pull? I've already had a few days to make them, but maybe I'll get them made this week, or slowly as I go, or I'll never have them made to pull and still get ridiculous point counts despite having no bonus. XD I'm basically just trying to make something that sounds fun. It looks like I put a lot of effort into pairing my things with an existing list, but I really am just going with whatever sounds reasonable to me. I hope it doesn't come across as too zany or hard to follow. And to avoid the broken link emojis, I'll just be keeping track of the Nook Miles I earn? I'm hoping taking credit for a lot of small successes this month helps me keep doing things I like. Have a beautiful day! Sincerely, Maerad

  3. Hey Doodlies, and welcome to a new challenge! This challenge is only open to existing Doodlies, you know who you are! If you're not a Doodlie, I'm sorry this is not for you. This time we're playing hangman. But no ordinary hangman, it's Doodlie hangman! We're having two teams again: Pancakes and Waffles. Sign up here if you want to join. So how do we play? I've got a list of challenges here. Each challenge will earn your right to guess a letter. There is no taking turns. The faster you finish your challenge the sooner you get the right to a letter. If you think you know the word: too bad, you still have to guess each letter separately (you'll just be guessing them right). You work together on completing the challenges. For example: one of the challenges is meditate for an hour. You meditated 10 minutes and one of your team mates meditated 50 minutes. You now have completed this challenge and earned the right to a letter. You win when: You're in team pancake The other team will pick a word of x letters (the words of both teams have twice the amount of letters as there are teammates in the team that guesses the letters). The team that guessed the most words at the end of the challenge has won. If a new team member wants to join mid challenge, or if someone wants to leave the challenge, they may do so when there is a new word to guess. We'll start February 11th (Monday) Until then: - What do we need to change about the rules to make it more fair? - Do you know any more challenges we can add? - What challenges need to change to make them all as equal as possible? - Anything else you like to add? 4. Hello guys, it's nice to be here I have bought Steve's book some weeks ago and I have finished it last week. What can I say, it's definitely inspiring, and in many ways is a story similar to mine. The difference is that I still have those problems. I won't hide, I have always been alone through my whole life, very little friends, not that many girlfriends and a very unforgiving metabolism. Personally I have to say that my lack of friends was justified in my childhood and in my teens by the fact that I was very fat and I was a very unpleasant person to be around. The one who doesn't accept jokes, who blame everyone for everything, the one that doesn't fit well in society. This was in my teens. Since I was 18 I started a big journey, physical and psychological, that changed who I was, how I thought and how people perceived me. Also, I have changed my body. From being a big fat kid I become a powerful and tall individual, somehow even intimidating at times. I learned how to look at people in the eyes, I learned a lot of things on body language and so on. I become a very avid reader and I got into self development. But I still have problems with people. Don't get me wrong, I'm a positive and a nice to have person to hang out with but there is always a catch, I do not understand why people like me but never truly gets close with me. I have read several books on how to make friends and things like that, but still nothing. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong. Maybe i need to redifine my social habits. I don't really know. However, I like being a hardworking person and I always try to pursue some kind of goal, because without it I feels like I might die without having lived to my potential, alone. And I always try to envolve my few friends to help me with my goals, but they are kinda disengaged with this kind of mentality. Or maybe they just don't like me xD It's irrelevant, I have seen that here there are tons of people with my same mentality and I really want to connect with them, and perhaps even find some friend. The challenge system is awesome, I will be definitely doing it. I recently started bjj (brasilian jiu jitsu) and it was a life changer for me. I'm have a new "feats of strength" goal: became a black belt in less than 15 years. If you don't know what bjj is, check this out. Is a very physically challenging martial art I have Discord as well, if someone want to chat
  5. Last challenge, I stopped counting calories and started eating meals, regular-fucking-human-stylez. Yay! This challenge, I am finalllllyyy moving out of my cray-cray house and looking forward to doing lots of cooking now that I can venture into the kitchen without being subjected to cray conversations with cray people. Over the course of this challenge I am also going to be doing some rad things like GOING ON TOUR WITH BUFFY SAINTE-MARIE OMG. HERE"S SOME GOALZ: Make friends! Ever since I finished school, I have been moving at least once a year, sometimes more. Much of that time has been spent long-distance relationship, and after a few years of shipping out as soon as I started to get settled... putting effort into social relationships started to seem futile. Like, why invest in your friendships if you're just going to leave? Now, I have a full-time job in an orchestra, I love my colleagues, and Mr. Tei has decided to quit his job and come join me here. This is a place I could... stay? Maybe for just a little bit, or maybe for the rest of my life? In any case, I am definitely going to be here two years in a row, which hasn't happened recently! So, it's time to start putting some effort into building a social scene. I am... open to suggestions on how to acheive this, lol. My current plan is to aim for at least 2x/week suggesting an activity to someone to inviting someone to something? So this could be texting my climbing friend that I'm going to the gym, or suggesting to colleagues that we grab lunch or drinks after a service, or... something else. IDK! Friends?? Anybody??? Get organized with work. I am doing an audition on May 3rd. I am not at all sure that I actually want the job (see: previous explanation of finally being in a place I could stay long-term!) but doing auditions is part of keeping your skills sharp as an orchestral musician, and I want to make sure that I feel proud of my performance both at the audition and for the rest of the season. Goal for this is to practice 2 hours + at least a 1/2 hour of reedmaking every day that is free or only has one service, and 1/5 hours + reedmaking on a two-service day. Foooooooood! As I said, I have been avoiding the kitchen in the place where I live, due to abnormally high levels of cray. This has actually been decent for my eat-three-meals-a-day goal, because I just go to the store, buy a meal, and eat it. Not great for the bank account, though, or the sense of being a grownup who can feed herself. The goals for this are so many! Once I get into my new place I want to re-start my sourdough starter (or maybe buy some to start feeding because my attempts at starting one from scratch here have been frustrating...) start making yogurt again, and get a gross vat of kombucha going. Also want to get in the habit of buying whole chickens and using all the various bits for various stuff. Woooooo home cooking! Workin' out! I have been getting in the habit of morning workouts, which is working out well for me! (heh.) The plan is to keep that up-- lifting 3x/week, and gymnastics/other stuff 2 or 3x. I alsooooooo stopped in in a super weird gym in my neighborhood to be like "so yo what's your deal" and apparently their deal is that they're moving out of my neighborhood and into the warehouse district, which boooo, BUT for the excellent cause of expanding their acrobatic and parkour offerings and THEY'RE GETTING A SPRUNG FLOOR AND A FOAM PIT!!!!!!!! Sooooo that place is hella expensive buuuuut could be worth it if I could quit my normal gym (and also probably the climbing gym, honestly, because I haven't been going there all that often and when I do I mainly just want to do flips on their mats) and tumble like every dayyyyyyy zomg!!!!! (This is the place, if you want to evaluate its suitability...) Let's do this!

Our challenge this time: How set works (by JMK):
  7. Who am I I'm an explorer through and through. Learning, growing, and discovering are encoded in my DNA. I have a number of interests that fall under multiple disciplines: Parkour, yoga, tai chi, and multiple martial arts styles. I'm like an assassin monk druid. A Drumonkin I guess. I have gone with explore class because It is where my heart truly is. I want to go hike the PCT, AT, explore Japan and China as well as the alps. Where I come from In high school I was the outsider, the one who saw but didn’t speak. I never had friends, only acquaintances. My only girlfriend was on the computer hundreds of miles away. My grades where a little below average and I was basically just waiting to get out of high school so I could go out into the world on my own. I moved out of my parent’s house and moved in with my grandparents. Shortly after I moved in my grandfather developed cancer and I took care of him with my grandmother. After 5 years of living and learning from him he passed away and in those 5 years I learned more than I ever had in high school. Just before he passed away my father came down with cancer. My father just passed away in March after suffering from it for a year. I’m done waiting for my life to change, I am going to be the change. I am done suffering from depression and grief. I’m overweight and out of shape. I know I am more than that but that’s what I see in the mirror every day and I don’t want to keep seeing that. I just really want to look in the mirror and say, “Damn I look good.” Why Why am I here? Because I want to look and feel sexy! I want to look back when I’m 30 and think, “The last five years have been awesome and I can’t wait to see what I do in the next five.” I am here to find friends and work with them to achieve their goals and mine. I am going to imagine my body as steel. Misshapen and ugly at first but as I work and train I will be striking and folding and quenching the steel till it becomes a blade. My mind and spirit has been tempered and tested and now it is time for body to go through the same struggles. Strategy I am currently enrolled in the academy and I am following the quests. I plan on posting on my progress weekly. My goals so far: I will strength train 2-3 times per week I will not drink soda anymore I will practice yoga 1-2 times per week I will practice one martial art once per week By the end of two months I will no longer eat bread or sugar. Final thoughts The last thing I want to say is if you need a friend here please don’t be afraid to say hi. We are all here for the same reason. I will be your shield brother if you will be mine. I will fight by your side and break down whatever walls, doors, or guards in our way. If you just want to chat GoT or something you're welcome too as well. I'm looking for friends right now.
  8. Howdy from Montana! My character name is Sagiquarion, but you can call me "J" or Justin. I'm a former World of Warcraft junkie, transformers collector, and love playing magic the gathering with friends. I like long walks with a great podcast or book, super curious everything and have a decent job. But something is really wrong, like, depressingly wrong. I'm here because I'm at a crossroads in my life and I don't know which way to go. I'm 36 and still figuring out what I want to do when I grow up. I'm tired of being afraid to make "the wrong choice" ya know? I'm tired of wondering when I'll start living and working towards something rather avoiding things. I use to be 285 pounds in my early 20s but lost (and kept it off) the weight many years ago. I'm fully confident in my ability to mind my health and fitness, and teach others to do the same. I'm not at all confident in myself to become an entrepreneur and I'm reaching out to you guys for solidarity. I've been learning a lot about Internet marketing and building an online business these last several weeks. I know more than enough to get started, but I'm dicking around and I can feel the urge to self medicate creeping in because of that uncertainty. Sure, I have goals: maintain a web based business that brings in $3k per month before taxes. Host or be a part of a podcast (got the loot and the talent)! help others forge a better version of themselves. i want the freedom to travel without having to ask for time off the job. I want to wake up and look forward my work rather than fight the urge to call in sick. Be a part of a community of self driven people whose goals and life philosophies align with mine. In short, from the outside I looks like I'm in a good spot. But not so much on the inside. I need to be ... more. Better. How? I need to feel like I'm progressing towards something rather than collecting underpants (thanks for that analogy, Steve!). is this resonating with anybody? Cheers!
  9. Welcome to the Doodlies - Cuddle Edition! Sign in sheet Do you want to be a doodlie, but you aren't on the sign in sheet? Look for our nuthouse division, they are still hiring. This challenge there will be no losers, only winners. Off course it's completely optional to participate in the pvp, as always. This is what we are going to do: . So every point you earn, you'll earn for all the doodlies. The reward is up to you. Let us know: what will be your reward when we get the bronze prize, the silver and the gold prize?
  10. Hey there NF team! Ken the Brave here returning after a long hiatus to get married and take a honeymoon. Now I'm back and looking to keep leveling up my life. A little info about me: I'm a Colorado Vault Dweller who found a beautiful woman to spend my life with, and recently realized that I need more of a life to share... Most of my friends who I grew up with moved away (why anyone would leave this state is baffling to me) and I haven't really made many more friends since college (which I graduated from 8 years ago). So, long intro short, my new mission is to get more in touch with myself. How? Well, that's what I'm looking to find out here... How did you meet your best friend or friends? They say strangers are friends you haven't met yet. What do you like most about them? What helps you feel like yourself? A good book? A long hike? Drinks or games with friends? Have you found your calling in life? How? And what is it? I'll refine my quest for this challenge soon! Good to be back!
  11. Hey guys. I need to add some more people on my friends list. Since I'm into running, I would love to add beginner and experienced runners. I would love to get to know y'all and pick some brains one time.
  12. Hey all, So, my wife and I are into fitness related activities. We love to go biking, or enjoy a long walk on the West Orange Trail, or go rock climbing, or swimming in the local cold springs. Lots of different things, really. However, we have managed to acquire a large group of friends who absolutely do not like to do any of this kind of thing ever. We realized that we need to find ourselves a more active group to do these things with, and NF really represents the right community (we are both obviously nerds). Any other rebels in the Winter Garden/Orlando area that would like to do bike rides or some such? Or, are there any weekly events or clubs that we don't know about? We really want to shift our social circle to be more supportive of being active, because we do enjoy it, but it's hard when you don't have anyone to share it with :/ Cheers!
  13. Greetings Fellow Rebels, I am here looking to improve my overall health. My job has allowed me to become very lax in eating right and getting up and moving. I want to change that and feel better. I’m hoping to find others who are also looking to have fun getting healthy. I lack any real upper body strength, but I do alright with walking a lot. I’m not interested in becoming a runner, but would love to become a long distance swimmer. I would also like to be able to build my upper body strength. I would like to improve my overall heath for my long term betterment. I can’t wait to see what I can do. I’m looking forward to making friends and getting fit. Let the Fit begin!
  14. I made this thread so that we can add fellow nerds on myfitnesspal. I just joined up and I'm loving it. It keeps tracking easy and syncs with my other fitness apps. Mine is in my signature. It would be cool to have nerd support on there. Post yours!

  16. Hello everyone! This is my third challenge. My first challenge…I can’t remember what happened but I didn’t complete it. My second challenge started shortly before I found out I was pregnant and while I tried to meet my goals I just couldn’t do it. So, here I am. Third time’s the charm right? A little about me: I am a stay-at-home-mom (SAHM) of Munchkin (3 years old) and Tadpole (1 month). I discovered the Paleo/primal lifestyle not long after Munchkin’s birth and have been working to lose weight and gain strength ever since. I have problems staying consistent though, which is why it’s been 3 years and I still haven’t met my long-term weight/strength goals. It’s the journey, not the destination right? I love to garden, hunt, fish, SCUBA dive, and ride horses (though sadly I’m horse-less at the moment). I have a 5 month old German Shepherd pup who you’ll (hopefully) be seeing a lot of during this challenge. Now that you have some background on to the fun stuff! The Main Quest Lose 15 pounds and/or lose 12 inches (overall) off my frame. Goal 1 Eat my version of perfect Paleo/primal 5 days a week, preferably 7 but I’ll give myself some leeway what with lack of sleep and all that other newborn stuff. (My version includes full-fat dairy and occasionally rice.) Goal 2 Lift weights for 30 minutes, 3 times a week and complete the 30 Day Plank Challenge. (Trying to figure out a good way to track this online so I can watch my strength grow (hopefully) and prove I did it. Ideas?) Goal 3 Walk or bike 6 miles a week. Munchkin’s preschool is (according to Google) 1.4 miles away from home. She goes twice a week. In the interest of saving gas, exercising the pup, and getting in some cardio I will walk or bike to pick her up. Bonus points if I drop her off as well. Pics will be posted (either facebook or here) for every walk/ride. Life Quest Internet silence, 3 days a week. This will be hard; the internet is my main form of communication with other adults. But, that’s the problem-I need to develop real life friendships. I also need to be more efficient online. I go to look up one thing, then take a side trip to visit Facebook or check my mail and suddenly an hour has gone by and I still haven’t finished the one thing I got online for. Motivation I’ve been out of shape for about 10 years. At least, that’s when my size started getting in the way of what I enjoyed doing. I tried different diets, exercise programs; joined gyms, ect. I would do great for a month or so and then fall off the wagon, regain the weight and become lazy, then restart or get on a new program and…wash, rinse, repeat. Now I have two kids. I need to keep up with them, but more, I need to feel comfortable in my own skin. I’m naturally an introverted hermit but, as Munchkin becomes older, I find I have to go out in public *gasp* and be around people *ew!*. School functions, field trips, ect-I need to not dread and hate these things, especially when Munchkin loves them. I don’t want her to hate being in public as much as I do. My hope is that being more comfortable with my body will make being out in public less horrible. Plus, have you ever been around a 3 year old? I can barely keep up. And now there are TWO of them! By the time Tadpole is walking I need to be ready. I will be using my Facebook page to post pics (proof!) since I have often have problems uploading stuff here. If you’d like to follow along the address is: https://www.facebook.com/ThePrimalGardener (I will still try and post pics here as well.) What I’d Like From You My largest hurdle is staying consistent. I am hoping that joining this challenge and posting will make me accountable and stay on track. Or near the tracks. Within view of the tracks? Heck, at this point I need all the support I can get! So, help me stay on course! Let me know how I can help you-lets conquer these goals!
  17. Round 4 Main Quest: To lose 100 pounds 1 - Food - Complete the Whole 30. So I started the whole 30 and it's a massive pain. I've gotten into yelling matches, gone hungry, and fallen asleep with tears in my eyes because of how defeated I've felt- but I'm going to beat this. Pass or Fail. There is no leeway. I must finish the whole 30. +5 Constitution 2 - Exercise - Warhammer Training 2x+ a week. I had originally done warhammer training 3 times a week. However, with trying to do the whole 30, part of the detox is having no energy and I really feel it now. I'm going to do this training twice a week at a minimum. I will try to do a 3rd time each week, but there's no promises. Pass or Fail as well. +3 Strength 3 - Stretching 2x a week. I tried stretching out last challenge. I want to improve. +1 Strength +2 Dex +1 Wisdom 4 - School. I was going to attempt a bookshelf (still might), but considering all the work I have to do to get an application (3 letters of recoomendation, 8 page essay, etc) I think that'll be my life goal this time. +3 Unsure
  18. If you have someone in this world that you love, go right now and show that love! Smile, hug, give a fiery kiss, cook good food, help with a dream she has. Just something that makes her smile ... Think, let it sink in just how lucky you are; maybe you never had met that person, if things had gone differently? If you can get light, warmth, colour to someone's day and through that to this often so dark and cold world, have a go at it! Just e-mailed that to a teacher in my school to be posted to everyone in my university of applied science. What you think the result will be? And I'd love to hear what you have come up with!
  19. Hi everyone, I am Kaleb, and new to fitness and dieting in general. I have been overweight most of my life want to change that and run my first 5K. I think Nerd Fitness is a great place to do that, you are my kind of people! Main Quest: Outrun Gary Goal 1: Start C25K Training Program for the treadmill and follow it 3 days per week. Goal 2: Start on the road to Paleo by eating fewer than 3 servings of grains per day. Goal 3: Eat an entirely grain free breakfast 4 days per week. Life Goal: Make at least 2 Rebel friends during this challenge, by posting and sharing my challenges and successes. I am not going to be grading my challenge at all. I don't need to prove success to anyone but myself.
  20. Kind of new to the app and really wanted some running buddies. I mostly do trail running with a once a week street run.
  21. OH MY GOD! It's been forever and I'm excited to start getting back to business. Family showed up during the off-week and there was just garbage food after garbage food and more garbage food. My 'never eat again' list has expanded quite a bit. It was a bad experience overall. I've been detoxing so this week will still be a little rough but I am back and ready to do this! I haven't given much thought about goals/challenges since the last one ended but I'll edit this post as I think of stuff. I'll have it ironed out in a day or two. Main Quest: To lose 100 pounds. Goal 1: Food! Like I said, detoxing now and this is a really hard part. I really need friends and accountabilibuddys (spelling?) at the start of this. I've reduced my non-paleo meals to twice a week now. Bagels are officially on my 'never eat again' list so that means there's no point in having a cheat breakfast. It's roughly 1 point a week. There's some leeway the next few days but by the end of the week if I'm screwing up I start losing points. +5 Constitution Goal 2: Warhammer! My sledgehammer(Jackson) has been a dear, dear, workout buddy but it's time to retire him.... FOR A WARHAMMER. The old sledgehammer was 10 pounds and I was able to work out with it for 20 minutes without breaking much of a sweat. So easy that I was getting bored- and that's a bad sign. So I'm ordering and will hopefully get by the end of the week- a 20 pound sledgehammer. My tentative workout is as follows: 10+ Minutes of Warhammer training 7+ Tire-ups 30+ Reverse Crunches 30+ Incline Crunches (getting too easy, hope to increase difficulty soon) 5+ Random experiment - either 1 leg deadlifts, or trying new sledgehammer exercises, or doing some tractor-tire flips. Each time I'll try something out and see what sticks. If nothing strikes me, then I'll get into full-body weight squats. +5 Strength. Goal 3: Unity! I couldn't think of a better word. I would like to focus on stress relief with some sort of meditation. I'm horrible at it. In fact, I think I have really bad ADD but was never diagnosed. I also feel after a stretching mini-challenge that I really should do some sort of stretch-related goal. I know they're technically 2 things, but I'm going to try to do them both as a package deal- like a yoga-ish thing. breath deep, clear my mind, and try and get some stretching done for my legs, knees, and back. Once a week, but I'll gun for twice a week. +3 Wisdom Goal 4: Hardware/Guitar! The desk and end table was a great success. I either want to improve the desk (sawing, sanding, priming, painting, fitting a side board to the desk and then having pins in the legs to hold actual shelves- which can then be used to hold my game consoles and other knick-knacks.) -OR- Guitar. I've put it off a lot because I'm really insecure. my g/f thinks that I'm dexterous enough that I should be able to do pretty well if I just stick with it. idk. +2 Whichever With that all done; hello and welcome back!
  22. Hey guys, I'm Josh. I live in Hamilton, and would be super-syked to meet anyone else who's a rebel and lives around here. I've attached a picture that may or may not be me, b/c this is the internet. I'm not a shark at least Anyways if you also live in Hamilton let's be friends.
  23. Hello! Total newbie in my first challenge, and happy to be here. Have a couple of newbie questions, and have been on enough boards for other things that I know how annoying it is when the same questions get asked over and over. So if anyone can link me to where these questions have already been answered, I'd be grateful. Otherwise, any direct answers would also be appreciated. First of all, doing the roleplaying stats thing for fun. But noted in others' signatures, their links to their challenges have clever or simple titles rather than url info. Unfortunately the only way I know how to link is to copy the URL, as you can see below. How do I make a link with a simple name like I see others doing? Secondly, what's the protocol or usual practice for linking friends? I've been on the warrior challenge boards because I was sloppy in reading class descriptions (should have been in adventurers as it looks like that's where many newbies start, but thought "I'd like to lift weights someday, so I'll go with the warriors." Actually I'm still working to complete the beginner's bodyweight workout (but did it today, yahoo!). Anyway, the other warriors have been great to the newbie, very encouraging. But anyway... I noticed one of them had linked to me as a friend (and I was flattered), but wanted to link with a couple others the same way. Is it appropriate to ask first? Or just go ahead and link with them after a certain number of cross-posting to each other's threads? Or am I just being over-sensitive? Please advise. Thanks!
  24. List you link here if you want more friends in MyFitnessPal. Need people to remind you to track or more encouragement to stick to your diet goals. Mine is in my signature.
