  1. So guys, life is crazy, and I'm getting damn bad about keeping these things moving/updated. Subsequently I'm not terribly great at making progress in my challenges Weeeeeellllll, that's not entirely true. Set a goal to achieve by new year, and one by summer: Check. And then subsequently scratched. We'll be back to this. Learn three things about biology no one else knows: Pretty F#$%ING solid check here. Be back in a few. Stop being a lazy piece of $#%& Write a review: Pretty solidly failed this one. So, what's it going to look like, wrapping up the year? 1) Don't eat turkey. You don't even like turkey, and it makes you fat, so why bother? DAMN IT DROP THE TURKEY. Pretty self explanatory 2) Become the man with a plan. So... told you my planning goal would be back. This is related specifically to fitness (NOT Fittin' dis Turkey in my mouth). Originally, I had goal weights in mind--deadlift of 500+ by 2018, squat 450 and bench 315 by June--but this no longer seems like the best way to go about gaining strength for me. Also, something tells my body needs a different approach for a few months so I can hit heavier weights later in the year. So the plan I had planned for the planning has been altered from the original plan and needs a new plan. Here are the steps: Plan Decide what my goals for each season of 2018 are going to be Find the plan program/system that will help me best achieve those goals Put the plan into an Excel sheet with the appropriate lifts, weights, and set/rep scheme 3) Make a plan Find a way to incorporate D&D back into my life without adding stress. Guys, I seriously miss D&D. Sadly, the last time I played as a character, my DM got way boring and couldn't let go of the notion that #NotAllKobolds was about as much of a success as the Not All Men thing (#YesAllParties, seriously, Kobolds and Gnolls can be the most boring bad guys ever). So I left, gave DMing a shot myself and was wildly underprepared as a firstie Grad Student without money to drive across town. So that also stopped. But I MISS it, and honestly, I think DMing could be fun if done the right way. I have a friend that expressed interest in playing, and I would love to get back to the basement nerding. Of course, it will still be far too much work to come up with something on the fly between each session. So what I want to do is start a running list/plan for the first several sessions of a new game. Work to do: Come up with a SOLID HOOK to show new players what they can do, even if not right away First session must include story, combat, party building, and a cliff hanger for the next session Second session must follow the first with combat and providing a bigger picture of the world Plan what the hell the big trouble will be, and shape small adventures around that for sessions 3 through 5 4) Maintain strength. I've done a lot of waving volume programming so far, with solid success I'd say, but I don't want the strength gains to subside right away. I NEED MORE. So figure out a way after this cycle (I peak in week 3) to rest and recover without losing. I'm leaning towards 3x3's right now, or something equally simple, but input would be solid. Thanks guys!
