  1. The next month is going to potentially very chaotic for me. I have no idea exactly how things are going to pan out, so I'm keeping a super open challenge as things come my way. By the end of zero week, our appraisal should be in, which will either mean moving forward with settlement or going back to some sort of drawing board around house plans. Right now, settlement is scheduled for April 16th, so we are on track for having everything completed by then, but it does make the appraisal piece the most important (aka only missing) step. If everything goes smoothly, our builder is ready to start our house (up to and including already getting permits!!). Which means needing a fairly open schedule to be able to meet to discuss finishes and other housing related needs. My parents house also went on the market today and they have put in an offer for the lot right next to ours (which might sound awful - depending on your relationship with your parents), however these are large lots which means that right next door is actually partially down the road (and my parents are putting in a pool). This means there is a chance I will be traveling down to Florida to help them with packing and / or helping them unpack when they get moved up here (and also potentially working with a realtor to help them find a rental). My daughter and I are starting a new workout program starting next week and I am starting a more lifting focused program at the same point. I'm also doing 2,000 burpees in April as a fundraiser. So this challenge is going to be me reacting to whatever I get thrown at me.
  2. Fun fact: every time I take one of those "what class are you quizzes?" I get Sorcerer. I guess it makes sense - I'm one of those former gifted children and while I've never really excelled at physical activities, I'm not the worst person in the race. Sorcerer is a kind of nice fit for me. It plays on the idea that I spend a lot more time learning than I do exercising, learning comes easy to me, but I'm more capable of physical activities than, say, a Warlock. I'm jumping on the bandwagon, working on developing my D&D character and setting myself up to work towards hitting max level. It's been a fun exercise in what is important to me and how my best lift looks. It's not done yet, but it'll be worked out in my signature when it's done. Input and discussion is always appreciated. I wasn't sure if I was going to create a challenge this time around. I'm really struggling with the layout of the forums and some nit picky things that are hurting my ability to follow and interact with my fellow adventurers (why can I filter on a class, but I can't "go to next unread topic" based on that class filter?). While this challenge runs through the first week of February, my challenge is very January focused. I'll adjust through the end of the challenge as necessary. Daily workout (currently Spartan 21) Daily yoga (YWA Breathe) Water (refill my cup 4 times a day) Dry January I'm tracking in my planner and I suck at sharing photos on here, so you may or may not see how these goals are going.
  3. HERMIT TRAINING Well, I'm back where I was years ago; need to start all over again. I should not let that stop me like it did last time and just turn into a lazy slob. Ryu never let not having training partners prevent him from being the best. In the meantime, I'll do what I can with what I have. THE QUEST Rise (+4 CON): Get up from the bed before 0730 every day. Visualize (+1 DEX +2 CON): Perform at least 15 minutes of meditation / visualization practice 6 days a week. Small Person Jiu-Jitsu (+4 WIS): Watch instructional videos by smaller individuals. Week 1 - How To Defeat Bigger, Stronger Opponents with Stephan Kesting and Emily Kwok Week 2 - Back Attacks with Ryan Hall Week 3 - Mastering the Rubber Guard with Eddie Bravo Week 4 - Marcelo Garcia Series 1 Week 5 - Marcelo Garcia Series 2 Week 6 - Marcelo Garcia Series 3 SIDE QUEST 5/3/1 (+4 STR): Perform the 4 main lifts every week. Can't be neglecting those biceps. THE MOTIVATION
