I floundered a bit last challenge, since I was burned out and didn't have much direction. Now that I'm studying to be a full instructor at the parkour gym and may be helping with some stunt fighting classes, I have renewed my focus and motivation! So, on that note, it's time to become Immortal and enter The Game. Each goal has a target of 100 points over the course of the challenge. Goal 1: Fight! - Immortals need to be experts in combat to survive. Points toward the combat goal are earned by doing any of the following: -2 points for every 10 minutes of weapon training -2 points for every 10 minutes of shadowboxing -2 points for every 10 minutes of remembering and reviewing hapkido self defense techniques -5 points for every strength session that includes some sort of muscle up progression, some sort of hanging core work, HSPU progression, handstand holds, and grip training). Goal 2: Run away! - Sometimes, the best way to survive is to run away. Points for running away are earned by: -5 points for parkour open gym skills practice. Fast wall top outs, vaults, and other things = easier time fleeing. -4 points for actually working on swimming when I take the kids to to the pool -4 points for any jog of any length -4 points for any nature ruck Goal 3: Immortal Healing- I'm still having some knee issues, and I need to stay on top of my prehab. So, 4 points are earned every day that I do foam rolling and prehab. Goal 4: Seek Holy Ground- Immortals are safe* (more or less) on holy ground, so they can relax a bit. For me, this goal is about reducing stress. I earn 4 points every day that I take 30 minutes to just do something for myself, like yoga, reading, playing a video game, or whatever else might help alleviate stress. Goal 5: Become worldly - Immortals who live long enough travel the entire world. I will work toward worldliness and earn points by: -50 points: plan and take vacation up the Atlantic coast. -5 points for every chapter of Harry Potter that I manage to read in Spanish. Bonus: study the instructor guide and schedule my test. Hopefully, all of this focus helps me get my mojo back!

Challenge 17 There can be only one....goal. There's something I've been avoiding for a long time. Justifying to myself this way or that way, enough is enough, I need to give Paleo a proper go. Not a bit of a go with a lot of other stuff thrown in and sort of do it, a proper full Paleo go. Controlling food intake has been a long standing battle and I keep dancing around it so this challenge: Goal 1 Full Paleo for 6 weeks. Rules of engagement: - Full Paleo to me means no processed food, no processed sugar, no grains. That pretty much covers it. - Exceptions: I have no issues with Dairy, I'll allow milk in limited quantities for tea and limited amounts of cheese. - Prep in advance, Prep in advance and Prep in advance. - Stick to my meal plan as much as possible. I like this summary for my Paleo approach, I'll be adding sweet potato. Tools to support my success: - Meal plan - Prep ahead of time, every Sunday prep 5 days of food. - No Alcohol, that's when I eat crap. There is 1 exception when my oldest friend comes to visit me for 1 weekend. I only get to see him once or twice a year so I will allow an alcohol exception if he comes but still Paleo food. - Consider a pre & post DEXA, need to look into cost. - Support from my NF friends...please I need lots of accountability for this one, I really want to finally succeed in trying full Paleo, I usually crack around the 3 day mark so 42 days is going to be a massive PR. Bonus antique film trailer for the fogeys among us: Time for a transformation. Oh yeah, big goal means big reward. Reward: Achieve 36 days or more of full Paleo: Book a holiday to dive the Yongala I've wanted this for soooo long, it's appeared in a number of my challenges as a reward for big goals, usually related to weight/BF% that have thus far eluded me. I'm already planning to my Advanced diving cert locally in 6 weeks time so I will have the ticket to go down to 30 metres hopefully by the end of this challenge. I will also have the funds to be able to book this by the end of this challenge, just got to come through and deliver the goal....

Those of you who saw my last thread know I got derailed midway through. And that's just not cool! Got to the halfway point of the challenge and felt about like this ^^^ do-over!! ^^^ So, since I don't like where the story would be left off, I'm continuing with same theme etc. this challenge, mostly because I don't feel like I completed most of my quests last time around. Main Quest: orgamiz... organa... get stuff in order 'Cause, you know, I'm a hectic mess 90% of the time - the other 10% is when I'm awesome, so time to spread the rule of organization through my life like Alex the Great!! SQ 1: Exercise: make an exercise schedule, and here's the tricky part - USE. IT! As such, the schedule will be posted on here and updated regularly - which will be extra reason for me to get online and post, so I don't disappear halfway through the challenge. +2STR +3DEX +2STA SQ2: Bedroom - this one was back and forth last challenge, so once again - bed made (DAILY), floor picked and kept up, and get the shelves organized (which was neglected in my last challenge completely) +1 Highlander tee-shirt SQ3: Meditation - Ok, need to keep this going daily - last challenge I got up to 4 minutes, so I'll start there and try to extend up to 10 min over the next 6 weeks. +3CON Life Quest: reading <-- this one actually went according to plan, so time for a new one. Joy of the Student - I need to work my brain!!! Being out of school is great, but some days I feel like I'm drooling on my shoes compared to where my brain should be. So I'm going to step this one up from reading for fun to adding in "classwork" - specifically, Japanese (which I didn't touch last challenge), biology, herbology and nutrition. This means selecting text books, and studying EACH for a minimum of 1 hour/week, will set them all in the schedule - Japanese I know will get 2 time slots per week. It's not a full class load by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a start. +2WIS +3CHA Also, the start of this challenge coincides exactly with the start of my Whole 30, so that'll be going on... hopefully I'm not biting off more than I can chew, since my 3 SQ's are basically what I had last challenge but leveled up slightly. My body needs the reset, and I need some energy without downing caffeine. I will keep up the story with NightWatcher and Nedra btw, and I'll try to make sure I actually put a green-texted post up at least twice a week. Let's do this!
