  1. Hey guys, I wanted to tap into the collective Assassin Brain here and ask for your input. I'm planning on building an iPhone app [eventually android too] for parkour workouts. It's going to be free, and I'm hoping really fun. I havn't even built my first iphone app yet, so this is a ways off [although this is what I am planning to do for work eventually]. But I'm in the planning stage, and I've always found that having a fun project makes learning a new programming language a lot faster. I really like the format of the Gain Fitness app as far as the way it walks you through it, and for customizing your workout plan, but I wanted to build something parkour-specific, similar to the WOD from APK. I was also toying with the idea of making some sort of storyline aspect like Zombies, Run. [but obviously not zombies, becuase that is already taken.] So my question is this: What would YOU like to see as a feature of an iPhone parkour app? in addition to workouts, something like a mapping feature for user-imputed jam sites? I'm open to any ideas, i'm in the brainstorming phase!
  2. Hey yo from Canada. I'm around my goal weight, but I'm wanting to focus on my least favorite part of myself: my legs and glutes. I really need to kick my own ass, pun intended. The basic hip thrusts on the floor aren't doing anything. So many workouts I see on Pinterest and whatever look really basic and I don't feel any burn from doing them? I'm watching my form too... What are your favorite/most effective exercises for lower body? I've heard hiking is great too, so I might add that to my routine. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
  3. I feel like "eat better!" and "exercise more!" are always in the back of my mind, and also: played out. Does anyone have a non-fitness/non-diet-related things that they're hoping to do next challenge? Meditate? Start a garden? Start a band? Get a new tattoo? I don't know, exactly, what I'm looking for here -- just some kind of creative inspiration for January.
  4. Hi! My names Emily and I'm new to NerdFitness. I'm just want to make easy health choices and turn them into life habits. I've started my first Challenge and would like some tips and encouragement! thanks!!!
  5. So...I'd like to add some MRT into my Stronglifts rotation to pick up the cutting/fat loss pace. Problem is, I don't know what I can do without impairing recovery on my off days or going too far on my lifting days. Thoughts? Probably best to do any MRT on my lifting days, but since Stronglifts is whole body...you see where I'm going with this?

  7. What delicious, yummy vegetarian/vegan food did you eat today? I prepped some quinoa bowls for lunch this week. I made a big batch of quinoa, threw in a bag of greens, a can of cannellini beans, and some pesto. Divided it up and have been reheating it all week at the office. Hope this can serve as some ideas for people who want to eat plant-based, but aren't used to the types of meals that we usually eat. Plus, I need some good food ideas to drool over.
  8. Newbie here! 23 y/o 5'5", 170 lb./77 kg. female, tired of being tired. I'm in love with the idea of combining fitness with a level system. Brings me back to my WoW days. I made a challenge post for myself (in my signature)... might not begin until the next challenge cycle, though. I'd like to start on some of those goals (drinking more water, taking the stairs, eating more freggies), but in the meantime, any tips on getting started? My problem tends to be that I go too hard, too soon, and end up feeling like my heart's about to burst out of my chest, my throat's super tiny, and I'm about to fall over/legs are going to give out. I feel like I have no point of reference to get started. (I haven't really exercised since being in marching band three years ago). I don't have the money to join a gym, and I do spend most of my day sitting (commute, desk job, being tuckered out when I get home), so I'm looking for things I can do without much auxiliary equipment. Some tips would be helpful for: Stretching recommendations Exercises for building up endurance/strength Dietary changes (I'm a vegetarian and I eat WAY too much junk/carbs/processed stuff) Some of my long-term goals include: -Completing a Tough Mudder -Running a 5K -Generally being a badass Thanks so much in advance! You've all been really inspiring from what I've seen so far. I look forward to making progress.
  9. Hi everyone! I'm going camping at the end of June, and I will be using a two-burner propane stove and living out of a cooler. Any suggestions for staying healthy and Paleo-ish while on a camping trip? Also, it's a family reunion trip, so we'll be doing group meals. (Pressure!!), so group-friendly would be awesome. I will, of course, be making allowances for S'Mores...
  10. Alright so I’ve been pretty diligent about dieting and exercise since January . It’s now 5 months later and I’ve lost close to 42lbs, (yay!) however, I’ve created a horrible habit of eating fast food, and making up for it by eating less throughout the day to create the “calorie deficit†to lose weight. Though I am losing weight, I don’t feel like I’m getting the most of my lift, or my progress. While I am focused on losing weight ( I’m currently 184lbs, long term goal is 160lbs) I feel like my body would benefit a lot more from dropping my body fat percentage, and that’s something I don’t think I’m doing with my current faulty diet choices. I guess my question is, what are some tips you guys have used to wean yourself off fast food? How do you keep your composure? And How have you managed to drop your body fat percentage, in a healthy way?
  11. So yeah, I'm kinda done with eggs. I made a crockpot breakfast casserole with them recently, and I can't eat it. It's just bad, bad things happening all around. Any suggestions?
  12. Let's give Steve and the rest of the NF crew a hand, What are some topics you wanted articles written about?
  13. Hello there! I'm new to the Paleo diet, I don't need to lose weight as such I just wanted a healthier lifestyle in regards to nutrition (I use to be a pizza a night guy). However! I'm enjoying my salads and eating copious amounts of broccoli but I'm now interested in dressings, I understand what sort of dressings the Paleo diet allows however I'm struggling with what tastes good! So anyone want to lend a hand at their own favourite salad dressings? Any good combo's or ideas? Also, I have been adding guacamole to my salads to make things more interesting however I'm unsure with measurements in the sense of what is too much or too little, so any help with that would be highly appreciated! Kind regards -Mellow
