  1. 0. (Something happened with my numbering -__- this is the workaround) Feast at the hall of Valhalla - track food with Noom, stick to calorie budget for month of Jan, move to maintenance from Feb. Fearless in the face of the sea - drink moar water, 2 large bottles/day. Fighting fit - 2 fitness activities each week until the gym comes back. Running, riding, walking, swimming, yoga. Bonus points if I go for a run in LARP garb kitted out with sword and shield to build up that armour fitness. Fun for fun’s sake - make my very own LARP garb before the first game back (29th). Utilise this time off work between now and the 10th to plan and begin the sewing etc. Fantasy - build backstory for Eidinn, the half orc from Vylkland. For the strength of my sword arm - physio stretches. Eidinn awoke, a thundering pain between her pointed ears. Groaning, she rubbed a hand over a swollen shut eye. She felt like she had been run over by a cart. Come to think of it, she had. “Fend.” The ruckus of the previous night came back in flickers and flecks as she checked herself over for broken limbs. The group camping for the evening by the road. The merchants chest locked tightly over the funds to restock the (mercifully) empty cart when they arrived at the next town. The men in dark clothes and with darker words who descended and absconded with the lot. The merchant cursing her out for failure to serve her purpose as shield for hire before storming into the darkness. She shook the images away as she grumbled to her feet and assessed what was left. Her bedroll and boots, her own small coin pouch concealed in the folds of her garb, and by some will of the gods: her sword and shield, useless in that perfectly timed attack, but expensive to replace. She flexed her fists, green skin browning with bruises where she had done her best to defend the group unarmed, and picked up her gear. She had 10geld. 10geld and the direction of the nearest town.
  2. Hey y'all! I'm Jen. I'm a game designer and game writer by day. I've done work on board games, LARPs, adventure games, and more. I've realized lately that I've stopped exercising and being careful about my food habits, and recently got diagnosed with Lyme disease. I'm going to beat it, but I'll beat it faster if I can get active and start cutting sugar, so I joined this lovely community! I'm in the east bay near San Francisco, California for the next two months, before I move up to my partner in suburban seattle. I can't exercise by myself; I find it too boring and I struggle to motivate myself. I'm looking for folk here with connections to the local LARP community who might also be interested in some fun in-character training montages. The way I see it, if I disguise exercise as pretendy-fun times, I can trick myself into liking it again. I'm here to learn from this great community, and I'm excited to see where I go! Feel free to reply or message if you have any info or advice! Jen
  3. Hello! I'm Jen. I'm a professional game designer/game writer. I've done work on visual novels, adventure games, LARPS, board games, and a bunch of other stuff. After years of glancing at this website, I've finally joined! I've slowly stopped exercising and thinking intelligently about what food I'm putting in my mouth, and in the last year we discovered I'm fighting an auto-immune disease. The good news is it's very treatable and I'm on track to be symptom free, but I'm now in the process of re-evaluating how to approach getting healthier again. The biggest thing I need to do more of right now is exercise - preferrably 3-4 times a week. I honestly hate exercise by myself. I've tried doing things on a treadmill or youtube videos on the internet by myself, and it's rough. I need an activity I can do with a community. I'm looking for a LARP community in east bay near san francisco that I can join. I'm open to combat training, dancing, stretches. I just want to do exercise in a community of people, with a purpose. I don't know if in character training sessions are a thing, but that's something I'm totally down for. The only down side is that I'm only in the SF bay area for about two months, before I move to the seattle area with my partner, but I want to start building healthy habits and a make LARP community connections now to make that transition easier. Thanks so much for any of your insight! Jen
  4. I have just moved to Pataskala Ohio and my husband is not really into working out or some of the more nerd things I like. I was looking for a buddy either in the area or online/txt who may also like video games, larp, renaissance faires, pokemon, sports, and who would be willing to help keep me accountable and be able to talk nerd as well . Nerd workouts are the best workouts! If you have/love pets as well I love going to the dog park for a work out for both me and my pups. As I am just restarting my adventure I do not have many weights so most of my workouts are bodyweight(though there is enough of that lol), walks, or I get creative with other activities such as sports, the dogpark, or larp. -Ecco
  5. So, recently i've gotten this crazy idea in my head that one of the ways to improve my LARP game is to get more in shape. For many, many years I've played Amtgard, a combat larp. I've also played Belegarth and Dagohir, which i like less for reasons i'm about to get into. In all three cases, when magic or ranged weapons are present, i'm deadly at arms length, but never, ever been good up close or if I get chased down since i start huffing and heaving and dying a little bit. Knowing that i need to be able to engage in short sprints (get in/out quickly with spells), extended close melees (and/or wrestling), and general accuracy and reaction time (for dodging). Aside from strength training with freeweights (which i'm very stubborn about believing is helpful to everything) are there any sorts of excersizes that would benefit this particular skill set? Thanks!
  6. I larp, and I like to do 5ks, 10k, mudruns and even crossfit dressed in cosplay, like Batroc ze Leaper. Feels good to say, feels good to speak my truth
  7. Hi Everyone I always say, the third times a charm, so here's to hoping my 3rd battle log will survive where the other 2 have failed. Honestly, it's been over 6 months since I touched my last one, and back then I was a very different person. Back then, I was weak. A shell of the Werespartan I have transformed into. My name is Ryan. I've gone by Wolf since I joined the boards back in September 2012 but most people like to call me Wolfie . I'm married to the love of my life, Heather, and we have 3 beautiful, handsome boys of our own: Racer, Declan, and Orin. We also just added two additions to the family, Fury and Ruby, our new femaile fancy rats. We've only had them since last Friday, but I'm totally digging them. Fury, short for Imperator Furiosa is my girl, she's very adventurous and curious. *insert pic of Fury* Then there's Ruby, short for Ruby Red, our albino white and light blonde streaked girl. She's still a little timid and shy, but we're working on that. Most people that know me, know that I'm high energy and a BIG dreamer. In fact, the name Wild Wolf came from one of the Ranger guild leaders, Mr. Dark_Raider himself. Basically, Wild Wolf is a Mad Max post-apocalyptic type movie where the sun goes black and one man has the power and energy to sustain life and balance..that man is Wild Wolf. Production and shooting will begin one day soon, so be on the lookout for that! Some of my dreams include but are not limited too: Try out for American Ninja Warrior sometime in MarchJoin the Spartan Pro TeamBecome a Spartan Trainer an/or get Onnit Certified and/or MovNat and/or Crossfit Gymnastics/Crossfit basics lvl and/or ALL THE ABOVEOpen my own gym/boxWrite a couple books and get them published, then work on getting those books made into movies and video gamesStart my own blog-get a bazillion followers and get paid to do what I love-talk, bullshit, workout, motivate, and help change lives. There are other dreams and massive goals I want to achieve but that's a good starting point. With 2016 fast approaching, here are some goals at the forefront coming into whats looking like will be a GREAT year. Get to the next round of the Ninja Warrior thing on Feb. 6th (at Obstacle Warrior)Try out for Quidditch team on January 16th. (I MADE THE LIST!!)Run Warrior Dash with Tanktimus the EncouragerDo the GoRuck Winnipeg next summer with some fellow RangersRuck 1000 milesDo 6500 pullupsDo 10,000 push-upsJoin a specialty gym: Obstacle Warrior, Title Boxing, CrossfitThe main use for this battle log will be posting my current, ongoing stories as well as getting back on track with my workouts. As of right now, I have 5 entries written of a werewolf story called Urban Wolf. They are about 3 pages for each entry, but this was a huge part of my last challenge for 2015 and I want to keep this bad boy going. I will make sure and put some place markers for that story where I can continue updating and adding on. Then, there's another couple stories I'll have as place markers to work on at the same time. I figure, instead of putting one thing on hold, let's just chip away at all my great ideas and see what happens. Growing as a writer has been a fun and challenging experience but I love a good challenge and I'm ready to finish some stories and self publish if I have too! I have an audible account with Amazon and listen to audible books frequently. That is something else I want to do more of-listen to more books-because this in turn directly relates my writing. The more I hear these badass, well written novels, the more it fuels me to finish my own. I'm excited to be able to share my writing with you guys and I'm looking forward to kicking the assery that is laziness and get back to wolflean status. Bartitsu is something I've been dabbling in on and off for the past year, and that's been fun. Bartitsu is a martial arts much like MMA that uses a cane for self defense along with your regular arsenal of kicks, punches, elbows, knees, and the occasional head butt. I have both Volumes of the Bartitsu Compendium that can basically help me learn the lost art of Sherlock Holmes. Check out http://www.bartitsu.org/'>http://www.bartitsu.org/ for more info. However, I have a hickory knob'd Vigny cane from Purpleheart Armoury as well to practice with, but, that is something I will play around with weekly. I also have a few LARP swords from http://www.calimacil.com/ that I like to play around with. Swords are my thing. Being a Ranger, I would love to be proficient with the bow and learn how to use one to its full advantage, but I am good with a sword. One day I will own this bad boy. It only feels natural based off the name and the given fact that I was a born swordsman and a formidable duelist. My cousins and I like to mess around with these type things and I'm always coming out on top. I'm not cocky, just confident . I'm truly excited about this battle log and the possibilities of what it will become. Ok, let's get to writing and working out like a wild wolf! Wolf
  8. Hi guys, Just wondered if anybody did larp here? I have looked into it and looks pretty fun. Is it anygood? As it costs a fair bit to take part in an event so wanted to know what peoples experience of it was.
  9. Hello thar! I'm 33 and would like to wear UK size 12 clothes by my birthday in June. I'm a UK 14 now. I like to lift lots of free weights, swim, do allstar cheerleading once a week, and am currently eating 2 low-carb meals a day and one with a portion of rice or potato. I will keep everyone updated - and PLEASE tell me off if bad things happen, like yesterday I ate a choc-chip muffin. Kalia x
  10. Okay, so I'm a cheerleader and a LARPer who wants to look good in both Lycra and leather armour! Having read Spezzy's transformation story, I've decided to start my own. I worked with a gym instructor last night to refine my lifting technique and create a programme, so that begins tomorrow (my muscles ache from all the crazy reps I did getting it right last night!). I will lift weights three times a week and do two good sessions of cardio (cheer practise). To be continued... Kalia x
