  1. So I think I made a post a while back with this account but can't find anything with it. And know I had a previous account as well. But things change for the most part. This will be my third attempt at adapting my life to be healthy and fit. So backstory time. Ages ago I joined under a different account and different name. It was working pretty well. Was like 30lbs away from my goal weight after dropping 100lbs. Unfortunately my mental health dropped and depression hit hard. I started eating like crap again, not working out and essentially gained a lot of weight back. I attempted again some time after when my wonderful gf (now fiancee) suggested I focus on my creative stuff while she covers bills. I attempted to goto the gym as often as I could but barely made a dent as I was still static most the time. Now, about 2yrs later, we moved from oklahoma to Seattle, got a good apartment and she's got good work lined up, I'm attempting again. Hoping that this time it sticks better since this area is a bit more focused on health and such. My name is Sloan, Also known as Unlucky Desperado on a lot of things. I'm a small time content creator who really wants to stop being the fat guy I am and be something my Fiancee can be proud of.
  2. Hey fellow rebels, never been to introduce on myself on a forum before let alone join one. But after some time I feel it necessary to promote personal change in my life. The stats: 29 Male ER Tech/Health Entrepeneur (fitness coach) Looking to explore the world Believe it or not I am an active gym goer and have been a gym rat for most of my life. Heavy weights and barbells and strength based exercises have always felt more home to me than anywhere else and it is my dream to become a lifestyle health coach. What does bring me here is Steves book level up your life, upon reading it I was faced with my reality or better yet lack thereof. Most of my time is spent in the hospital but my 6 days off which i get every week is spent sleeping or xbox (aside from gym every day). I have done so much in the past to help set a future trajectory (vision, board, goal list, numerous self help books) but always seem to lose steam 24 hours later, and I then find myself wandering back to the clan of underpants gnomes. So im happy to be part of a thriving community where I can ee other people's progress and help and learn and listen to others on their personal journey. My character has been created and I am ready to reverse engineer my life and looking to change the following: 1.Nofap: Maybe you guys know maybe you dont but theres a community dedicated to living healthy sexual lives which involves giving up bad addictions porn masturbation and orgasms is not how i view my level 50 status. My high level self embraces intimacy with a woman I respect love and care for. No need to exhaust my lifeforce into a towel 2. Adventure more: self explanatory I am tired and staring my apartment walls 3.Attract my tribe: have more of a social life and be out in the world experiencing life with awesome people 4. Live in love: sometimes I get trapped up in a pessimistic mindset and judge others, I would rather use that energy to uplift and inspire. 5. Compete in something: I have a warrior's heart, since I was little I loved battling something (most of the time it was myself) however, I want to get in the ring with someone 6.Nature is my friend: Trees and parks and trails make my soul sing. 7.Enter abundance: build my business, travel the world, enter financial independence and create my own income by helping and inspiring others to eat less meat and dairy and pick up healthy habits. Love, Love, Love. Have a beautiful day
  3. November 2016 Challenge Hello Druids, for those of you who don't know. I'm Waldgeist, a 29 year old German guy. I've been mostly rolling with the Assassins but I feel that for my current situation this is the better place for me. Whats going on right now (the prologue, if you will): I moved to another state/city and enrolled in a university course to pursue a 3-year degree in 'Physical Activity & Health', because I was not happy with were my work life was headed. I had realized that I can't sustainably work an 9 to 5 office job, but I love working with people and teaching them/helping them to get better. Therefore, I decided to not just complain but make an actual change. The journey so far wasn't easy, there were times I thought I wouldn't make it, but I did and my new life officially started last week. Also I am living completely alone again for the first time in three years, which I don't mind but that gives me more options to live healthier. There is a lot to do, like get a part-time job, make new friends, finish moving (most of my stuff is still in my hometown), explore the city/college, not to mention the obvious, study, work out, eat healthy and don't let life get to stressful at the same time. Theme: This will be the Jedi Academy books including I Jedi (though they are no longer canon, they still have a special place in my heart). Main goal: Establish routines in a new environment Quest 1 "Study the the Force by its elements" GMB Elements I've done this programme before and it is a perfect base to establish an active practice routine. Goal is to do at least 3 sessions per week, bonus points if i do the recovering days in between sessions, too. Quest 2 "A Jedi must control his body as well as his mind" Flexibility This kind of overlaps with the first quest, since there is flexibility work in there, too. But I don't want to limit myself to those stretches. Goal is to do at least 4 sessions per week. Quest 3 "Working out with Keiran Halcyon" KB/bodyweight Workout Don't have my equipment right now, so this might be limited to push-ups and squats only for a while. Anyway, twice a week is the Goal here. Quest 4 "To be One with the Force" Relax As I mentioned above there is a lot going on right now, which means I need to remind myself to relax, be thankful, not to worry too much etc. Daily would be perfect, but I know myself so every second day shall be the Goal. Quest 5 "Jedi do not desire a luxurious life" Do IF & Eat clean My budget isn't that large anyway at the moment, so this shouldn't be too hard. After all, healthy cooking is way cheaper than eating unhealty pre-made stuff and not eating for a day (aka IF) is even cheaper, even if you eat a slightly bigger meal at the end of the fast. Goal is daily healthy eating with one or two IF days a week, but a small treat a week or two won't be counted as unhealty.
  4. Just married, starting a family with a couple of fur babies, getting noticed by your awesome bosses at your awesome Texas radio station job, then... BAM! The same day I get promoted is the day my husband gets the job he's been waiting for since leaving the military... In Pennsylvannia... When life hands you lemons, I am right? We had our first real-life, grown up talk that day (on Valentine's Day, 😓) and as much as we hated to admit it, both of our life changing job opportunities were something we couldn't pass up. He had to move to PA and I had to stay in TX. I gave my bosses a "1-year garantee" that I would stay and do the job. My husband moved and I began life as a geographically separated wife with 2 dogs and a cat to take care of and living on my own for the first time. Nothing would had prepared me for what challenges I would face. To make the year long story short, this is what happened in a nutshell: Dove in head first into my job Realizing that I had no real support system in this game changer Lost confidence in myself Ultimately became depressed I lost the trust of my bosses Finally hitting rock bottom by using food as a reward/punishment Quit my job after 11 months and moved to PA a month early with no real plan on what I'm doing. So here I am, one month in living in PA, no job, no confidence and absolutely no motivation left in me to even do the simplest things. But... You can always hit restart So here I am, looking to restart. So for months I had Nerd Fitness open on my iPad of how to do a push up. It was always opened just like I was always going to start one day. Never looked past to the vast awesomeness that lurked behind that blog post. Till 4 days ago... I decided to join the rebellion because I need similar, like minded people to tell me I matter. That I can get healthy again. That I can be happy with my new life, even if it doesn't go according to what I dreamed of. My husband told me once the best time he ever knew me was back to the first summer were engaged. I was happy, I had just graduated and I was living my life the way I wanted too. I want to be that happy again. I just gotta restart somewhere.
  5. Hiya, all. I thought I'd reintroduce myself again. I was here for one challenge in the fall that I ended up doing really good with. Got a late start on the following challenge and didn't follow through. Once that happened I lost my steam and disappeared until now. I have plenty of excuses as to why, but it really doesn't matter. I stopped making my health a priority and as a result I don't feel as good as I did. I'm not coming back in full until it comes time for the next challenge. But I'm will be working on myself until then. And even though I have completed a challenge, I'll be joining the first timers. I think I need that again. So, what is it that finally got me to come back? I have a big life change coming in a year and a half and it is motivating me to make a better me. In June 2015 my brother and I will be moving from Panama City, FL to Boston, MA. We are super excited and while we've realized that we need to make changes financially, we also need to change our health. Boston is a walking city. So I need to get my endurance up. Which will also help with my dog. I won't have a back yard anymore. He'll need many walks. I will be car-less and taking the subway a lot, my recent visit convinced me that I need to work on my balance and my ability to run up and down steps. Boston is full of amazing food. Amazing to taste, not always so good on the body. I need to teach myself discipline when it comes to food. I tend to go over board on good/bad stuff. And then there is the lifestyle stuff I need to work on. I will be moving to a small apartment (most likely), I will have to decrease my possessions. I also need to get better habits in relation to cleaning and organizing. I'm not some giant slob, but I could use some work. I need to work on financial things, too. Boston has a much higher cost of living. I need to save to go and work on making myself hireable (is that a word) in a more competative market. All of this may seem like a lot to do. But luckily, NF has this great idea of breaking it all down into manageable chunks. All hail Steve! tl;dr: My life is going to change in some huge ways. I need to change to be ready. So, I'm back! Here for the community, support, and resources. Hello, again, my fellow nerds!
  6. Hey every one, I am an old athelete (36), well maybe not that old but my Ortho Doc says I have the body of a 50 year old . I am 6'6" and currently 210 and I was once an avid Basketball player and since my two torn ACLs i have hung up the high tops. At one point i ballooned to 245lbs and I was unhappy. I did P90X a few times and had good results: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T84nVLHe9RA. I then got back into Mudrunning and Softball and playing with my kids. I picked up Crossfit and really enjoyed lifting again. I also did Paleo farely strict for a year and it worked well. Then I ended up getting divorced much to my surprise (a year ago). I divorced my paleo chef and my attitude toward working out was challenged by malaise and time crunch from being a single dad. I finally decided to drop out of the gym and do it myself in my garage. I still play softball 2-3 days a week. I bought 400lbs bumber plate set, an oly bar, some rubber mats from Tractor Supply, kettlebells, wallballs, built my own plyo box, and put some rings in my garage ceiling to do toes to rings and pullups. Next on the list is a slam ball, homemade GHD, homemade squat racks, and possibly battle ropes. I decided to try again with Paleo and the garage gym has been very nice for my new single dad schedule. I hope this site can give me some ideas, support and challenges. Lee - Griz
