  1. So. I've set up plans to meet my goals for this challenge. I found a running partner - we're running her neighborhood every Monday after I get off of work. I'm thinking the gym should be on Tuesday and Thursday every week. For a while I was going M, W, F and then alternating, but with a 50+ hour work week I got thrown off. I've decided to also slightly alter my nutrition goal. I'll give myself one day a week to not be as strict, that way I have a built-in day to not feel guilty if I'm offered something not inline with my goal or go out to eat and can't really weigh or measure out my serving size. Still learning how to eyeball some things. I also have a solid plan for my loan to be paid off early next month. The early payment is part of a larger goal to reduce my debt and increase my credit score. As part of that I actually disputed one of the collection accounts I have and it was removed! I was so excited when I found out today. I'm on track to better credit and better opportunities.
  2. Hi all! I dont know if there are any other rebels signing in from Italy but here is at least one... ciao! I'm trying to get back on track, actually I'm trying to get better than I ever was before. I've been a runner for a while but have slacked off recently... my diet was never great and it showed in my performance and energy levels. I finally ditched the desk job I hated and am teaching and translating freelance. Psychologically speaking I'm in a much better place than I have been in the past to make some serious changes to my lifestyle. My aims are to bring my distance back up to marathon level (I had almost hit the distance before I threw in the towel before) and lower my times on the 5 and 10ks. To do so, I need to lose fat and gain muscle so I'm hitting the gym a couple of times a week and going as paleo as possible (pizza once a month is simpler unavoidable here)... keep your fingers crossed for me and if anyone is on a similar journey or has completed one please let me know, I'd love to hear from you! ciao for now la scozzese
  3. Hi, I'm a dude looking for like-minded individuals. I like nerdy stuff like video games, movies, comic books, dungeons and dragons, and martial arts. I'm 5'10" and I'm 250 lbs and I'm looking to lose bunch of weight and eventually be around 180ish. I live in Southern California. I am a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo and a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I've also done Muay Thai for about five years. I'm not huge on weightlifting, but I want to lift weights more to get toned up and also to improve my performance in Jiu-Jitsu. So yeah, Hi!
  4. Hello! My name is Rachel and I am currently 26 years old. I am originally from California, and now I live where everything freezes my soul in Michigan. (Its currently quite frigid out at 17ºF, but feels like 9ºF.) I am getting married in June of this year and I essentially need to lose a bit of weight of get the last bit of my dress to zip up. My fiance and I have been together for almost 8 years now and he's very supportive of my lifestyle change. He is with me, just can't let go of his breads and pizza. I have three cats: Smoak, Marbles, and Ceres. All in all, I have roughly 30 pounds of cat running around my house. This isn't necessarily my first fitness journey. I was at my fittest 2 years ago when I was really paying attention to what I consumed and I was consistently working out at a gym with a personal trainer. Now, the present day me, I am at my heaviest and at the weight I told myself I would never get to. I have been dabbling with paleo for quite some time now, just an extremely inconsistent manner of paleo. I had completely fallen off the wagon when I had accidentally (Yes, I know) put myself into a state of detox when I forgot to take my anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication. This time, I am not giving up. I have separated my food from my fiances, set a workout schedule on my Google calendar, and I am actively tracking my water intake. If anyone has any questions for me, feel free to ask! Hopefully I can be a decent addition to this great community!
  5. I'm Artorias, named after the mythical knight Artorias the Abysswalker. The legend of knight Artorias is obscured in darkness for it was darkness and the ever expanding Abyss that led to the great knight end. In the age of Ancients the world was unformed, shrouded by fog, but then there was Fire and with it came disparity. Heat and Cold, Life and Death and of course Light and Dark. And from the Dark four emerged and claimed Lordship through the power of the Flame. Thus began the Age of Fire. The Great Lord Gwen possessed four trusted knight burdened with upholding security in the realm and among those four knights stood steadfast and sturdy the Knight Artorias but as the Fire began to fade the Great Lord Gwen sought to rekindle the Flames thus leaving the realm but not before dividing his power to four kings. With this power the four kings aspired to greatness and in their aspirations unsealed an ever expanding dark Abyss. Knight Artorias, tasked with defending the realm took up arms against the Abyss; for it was Artorias's fate to walk into the Abyss making his last act one of opposition to the expanse. Hi there, bit late to the start of this challenge but I just signed up to NerdFitness a couple of days ago and have just stumbled around to the forums Sunday. This is my first Challenge and I'm really excited to be joining NerdFitness. Goal Number 1 : Into the Gym I haven't been inside a gym in a while. Moved my back weird a few months ago and just stopped going to the gym. But hopping to go to start going to the gym with regularity. It's my goal to make going to the gym a real hobby. Goal Number 2: Rings, Swings, and Other-Things This is a gymnastic oriented goal mainly focusing on rings, bar work, handstands and rope climbing. So twice a week I want to do a body weight workout. One day focusing on doing ring holds and ring pull ups and other shenanigans with rings, and the other day focusing on pull ups, progressions to get lever holds and other stuff on a pull-up bar thing. Goal Number 3: A New Look on Things This goal is for me to get a new look on things by doing a handstand while supported by a wall for one minute twice a day. Seems like a bit much but one minute isn't too long and I can do this once in the morning and once at night. The time is there and I'm sure it'll help get the blood flowing. This leads into a longer term goal of wanting to be able to walk on my hands for at least three minutes with out assistance. Goal Number 4: Open the Portal! This goal is here to help open myself up to new worlds, specifically through learning a new language. I have friends whose first language is not English and have difficulty speaking English; I would like to be able to speak with them in their native tongue as to make them feel more welcome and to better our friendship overall. So the actual action of this goal is to learn five words a day. 6. Hey everyone, So, I'm not as insecure as my title suggests...I only mean that I don't consider myself a nerd. I do, however, consider myself a storyteller and from what I've seen many of you would self-identify as such also. So, if I don't belong just let me know and I'll scurry off to some other brothel of fitness junkiedom. Here's the other thing: my previous statement would suggest that I am a fitness junkie. I'm not. At all... In fact, I hate fitness. It's why I'm starting a new blog called wehatefitness.com - I don't think I'm alone. I'm thinking my people may even be here on this site. Let me explain. I enjoy being fit. I like the feeling of being in shape and feeling healthy. I love playing sports and I don't mind eating healthy (as long as we're creative about it). But, I can't stand working out! I hate the process of getting fit and staying fit. I've tried lots of things and I get burned out stretching before I ever start anything intense. My best attempts at working out are always 1-2 weeks long and then I'm just done - I'm unmotivated. My wife is completely different. She enjoys the process of getting fit - but she is a Mom of three and struggles to find the time to do everything she wants as far as healthy living goes. So, for a totally separate reason she also "hates fitness". As a storyteller, I've developed a couple of character types. I wonder if any of you fit one of these profiles. If so, please share below. 1. Caleb - This one is me. The guy or gal who can't stand the process of getting and staying fit. You get burned out easily. The people who love going to the gym annoy you. You have a hard time being motivated to find time to work out - you practically have to be forced into it. 2. Steffanie - My wife. Someone who just struggles to fit a healthy lifestyle in to the already busy day. You might be a stay-at-home parent or a busy business person or just someone with lots of responsibilities throughout the day. You enjoy fitness, but the inconvenience sometimes makes it feel like an obligation and it's not fun. 3. Brandon - My brother in law. Slightly overweight, can't lose weight no matter how much healthy eating, dieting, or working out you do. Wish you could get in shape, but have a difficult time staying committed because you never see results. I'm developing some others - so maybe you can help me with those. What are things you struggle with that make you hate the process of fitness? Wouldn't it be great if fitness felt more fun? If you've figured out the secret, I'd love to know what makes fitness fun for you. How do you keep things fresh and exciting? How do you keep a "work-out" from feeling like plain old work? Thanks guys! Happy to be here. CalebTheTiger
  7. So okay, hello there... I am just going to do this and then run and hide in the corner My name is PrincessSasiii or Sasiii for short. I am a 23 year old from Germany that spends way to many behind a book, behind her laptop screen spending hours opon hours writing fan fiction and dreamong of a better life. Dreaming of a healthier, skinnier, happier and more confident me. Other then that I like to play on my XBox and spend hours binge-watching about 100 series at the same time. But I am done with that. I don't want to write about that goregous, happy confident self that I dreamed up anymore - I want to become her. And I know that I have been a million times always failing, always getting set back but I am determined to just DO it this time. And I really hope that this site and the board are going to help me by changing myself step by step and this time keep up with it. So if anyone thinks this sounds interesting or just wants to chat I would be happy to Love Sasiii (sorry for any spelling mistakes)
  8. So! Finally getting back on track with fitness. I'm brand new to this site. I used to be relatively fit? And then I moved to Boston 11 years ago, hit a bunch of hurdles with depression, teaching myself to be an adult and cook right, food allergies(dammit gluten, stop being delicious) and now being on the road a lot with my band(and the crappy food challenges that comes along with that). So I'm at 216 right now, which is...not great on a dude who's only 5'7" but I guess could be worse(considering when I got married 2 years ago I was near 250). I'm trying to decide if I should set an end goal of "XXX pounds", but right now my goal is to hit 199 and be below 200 for the first time in like...13 years? And to stay in shape; dudes in my family tend to go to pot after marriage, so my goal is to do the opposite. And honestly? I want to stay on the road with music, and I know it's going to be easier to do that in better shape, without aching joints and extra baggage keeping breath from me. So yup. This is me. 33 years old and pushing to get my ass back in gear and in shape. Throwing up before pictures because I feel like that'll be motivating for me.
  9. The Question at Hand Same Muscles Everyday or Alternation? As you can probably see in my signature I have started a workout and diet plan, but it is very incomplete. The issue I am having is alternation. I have heard that you are okay to do the same exercises every single day, but other places and/or people say that it is bad for you. They say if you must exercise every single day then you need to alternate what part of your body you are exercising. Other people say that you can work the same spot every day just don't work it so bad that it aches the next day and you will be fine; in contradiction to that I heard that if it doesn't ache then you aren't gaining any muscle. Which one is it? Also, If I DO need to alternate should it be between Upper and Lower body or arms, legs, butt, etc. I need help figuring out what I should do. Should I do Upper one day, Lower the next, then just do Yoga on the third day and go back to Upper on the fourth? Any ideas on a workout plan for my Diet and Exercise Sheet would be much appreciated. I know that if I can just get my facts straight I can come up with a plan and make it happen. The Circumstances: I am twenty-three years old and was inactive from the age of twelve until I was seventeen. At seventeen I still wasn't active but instead of sitting I was standing all the time. At twenty I started walking between eight and sixteen hours a day and did heavy-lifting(my job required it). But once I became pregnant at twenty-one and gave birth at twenty-two my activity went dead. All I did while I was pregnant was sit around the house all day and eat. Vacuuming was my only exercise. Once I had my son I still kept sitting until he started walking but even then I still sit most of the time, only getting up when he runs out of sight or has something in his hands he isn't supposed to have. Put Short: I am very much out of shape. But I want to change that and start exercising EVERY day. Why? Because I want fitness to be my life. I want my son to grow up watching his mom being a healthy person who helps other people be healthy too. The Goal: My goal is to do Pilates, Yoga, and Bodyweight training. I want to have a decent amount of muscle but not look so ripped that nobody wants a hug (I love to hug). I want to loose my muffin top which I have had since I was ten. I WANT to exercise EVERYSINGLE day because exercise helped me to quit smoking and helps with my depression every time I am active; it did this by giving me something else to love, be addicted to, and focus on. And best of all, unlike cigarettes, it's a healthy addiction. I want to bring this joy to other people but if I am not healthy and fit how can I help others to be?
  10. Hello there I was just introduced to NF about two weeks ago and have found it as a great tool and resource so far, despite not being in the academy. Started cleaning up my diet towards the Paleo direction a week ago and wondered: -Can I drink black coffee? (I think this is a 'yes' from others' comments I've read) -Can I eat honey? -Is a little salt on the veggies ok? Thanks for any input! To other new-to-Paleo friends, what other foods have you had questions on?
  11. Good evening, i learned about the forums at camp and wanted to intro myself here. Hello my name is Adam and i found out this weekend that i am an adventurer class! I live in Aiken SC just over the boarder of Augusta Ga and would like to find some area meetups as they pop up. I have the academy and yoga but have not really started with either one, now that camp is over i really want to get into those more. Any pointers on where to start?
  12. Hi all, I'm Bread, I'm 34 living in Wales and interested in starting weightlifting and weight training of sorts. I found this place after some googling and seemed right up my alley as a geek and all. I'm overweight. I weigh like 16 stone but it doesn't really bother me. I've been overweight since I was 16 and I've had a lot happen in my life, including serious depression and anxiety. Being fat isn't that big an issue considering. So I'm not here specifically to loose weight. What I want is to improve my health, my strength and my stamina. My wife just had a baby and I'm going to need to be fitter and stronger for my son. I don't like exercise, running, aerobics...I like swimming and I like weight lifting. That's it. But I'm a complete beginner when it comes to weights. Unless it involves cats and children. Geekwise I like Stargate, and cop shows and old films made before 1970. And MST3K. B-movies. Cartoons and video games. I write, blog and work in a pharmacy. I need advice and tips and support on this weird little journey I'm starting myself on. Take care - Bread
  13. Hi, you can call me Nimura. I have been following Nerd Fitness for years, reading all the articles and accumulating stores of knowledge and wisdom.... but not doing much else unfortunately. I'm looking to change that now once and forever. I'm starting university in two weeks and am viewing it as a fresh journey in my life and seeing that I'm still young and sooner is better than later, I want to improve my health and fitness and put my body to some good use. Why, you ask? Because it'll raise my self-esteem from sea level to the mountain tops. And I would like that. Very much. So I still need to do lots of planning and goal setting but the general direction I wish to venture in as of now is pretty clear. I'm a tall, skinny awkward guy. And I don't like it. My wish right now is to bulk up and become stronger. That, as far as I know, means that I should focus on strength training and body weight exercises. I used NF's Beginner Bodyweight Circuit inconsistently through high school. I am going to return to that and make it consistent because, at this stage, even that beginner's routine is enough to wipe the floor with me. To be honest, after advancing through the beginner stages I am not sure what I'll do next. Graduate to mainly strength training and weights on the path of the Warrior or venture into more advanced bodyweight training that might take me on the road to the Assassin? I'll decide afterwards but, keeping in mind my desperate desire to bulk up my thin physique, it might be the former. But for bulking up I know that my diet is going to be more than half the battle and it'll probably take a ton of research and strict regimens. Well, I know it's not going to be easy. Truthfully, this journey before me seems unbelievably massive and daunting and, like Frodo, I do not wish to walk to Mordor alone. What I'm looking for here are people who I can discuss my fitness-based challenges and issues with and who can offer me advice and motivation for when the going gets tough. Just a sense of companionship and shared inspirations and dreams would be enough. I'm a complete noob now but I promise in the future to help those who need advice and motivation like me. So yeah, hopefully you read all of that. And hopefully this won't be another false start of mine. Anyways, one real problem I know I will probably face, as a university student, is balancing my fitness routines and my diet needs with my studies and assignments. I'm guessing time management and diligence will be my friends and forever must I banish Procrastination long though he may have served me. Any advice on improving your health and fitness as a university student? My nerd credits are as follows. I love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Doctor Who and have enjoyed bit of anime and manga like Attack on Titan, Darker Than Black, Death Note, One Punch Man, My Hero Academia, Berserk and Tokyo Ghoul. The last two are two of my favorite series in the whole world.
  14. Create a daily battle log? (check) I did the benchmark and am starting the level 3 bodyweight path. Sweet. I aspire to be an assassin, monk, or ranger - not quite sure yet! I'm currently located in St. Louis, MO if anyone is looking for an accountabilibuddy (me. I am). I don't really drink much, play volleyball, am in my 20s, and like playing board games and video games with other people!
  15. Good morning everyone! My name is Travis, but of course I go by Synyster here. I have been with this site for many, many years! I have been in and out quite a bit, mostly due to personal issues. I am re introducing myself as I have not been on here in almost 3 years!!! I was doing some research for my website when I came across some old posts I had made here and nostalgia hit hard like a rock. I am still very much in to fitness these days. I have ventured in to bodybuilding and plan to compete next year. I moved last year from Las Cruces, New Mexico to D'Iberville, Mississippi and have met a lot of bodybuilder friends here! I have learned a ton from them and improved so much more than I could ever hope for! I currently work for a company called Freedom Boat Club in Biloxi, and it has been a major blessing! Here's why: 1. I get to work with boats all day! I clean and fuel them, and when no one is using them I drive them around for fun!! MAJOR PERK THERE! 2. If I'm not busy (like today) I have been given the freedom to work on my own business! AWESOME SAUCE! 3. Because business is slow (it is a brand new club in Biloxi, just opened about 4 months ago so it is growing) I only work 3 days a week! It's bad hours for pay, BUT 4. It has pushed me to invest in a domain name and host. With that I have started up my own blog, experimented with an affiliate product (I will probably remove it shortly, but it is still up for sale for the time being) and am now taking a 90 day course to help build my website up to grow my Subscriber list! The research I was doing for my website led me to a forum post here about online entrepreneurs. I was reading it and saw my profile and thought "Whoah. This is years old!" Do you guys know how AWESOME it is to look back at something from a FEW YEARS AGO and see how much you have progressed? How one little thing had pushed me to finally invest in something I have only read and dreamt about doing?! I'm super excited guys! And I am SO VERY HAPPY to come back here, share my experiences and LEVEL UP with NERD FITNESS!! WOO!
  16. For my first challenge with the Scouts (hi everyone!) I'm channeling my inner Dwarf. ("Keep breathing . . . that's the key . . . breathe . . . *puff puff*") For anyone who's just meeting me, I tackled my last challenge with the Assassins, and realized I didn't care for bodyweight exercises and goals as much as I used to - my exercise goals these days are all about improving my running. So, here I am! At the beginning of my last challenge I hit a major milestone, and ran my first half marathon. My long-term goals from here are to keep slowly building my mileage base, and hopefully run a full marathon in the fall. Needless to say, I'll have lots of questions for you guys as time goes on! These days, I'm also doing barbell strength training on the side, which has made me feel like a stronger and better person in general. My life goals, on the other hand, are more in the short term, and pretty much all about rebuilding habits that I've been lagging on in the last few months. On the Hunt: - Increase max long run mileage to 15 miles With my half marathon goal under my belt, it's time to begin the long hunt for my next big milestone: the full marathon. If I stick to my training plan, I ought to be able to safely increase my max long run distance by a couple miles this challenge. This would be epic. - Work out five times weekly My normal schedule has me exercising six days a week, either doing runs or weights. If I do something else that's really strenuous that day, that counts. Missing one day a week is acceptable, if not ideal. (Sometimes weekends are crazy, y'know?) This specific goal should help me stick to the routine I need to achieve the bigger milestones. Party Like A Dwarf: - Practice barding (guitar and singing) five times weekly I've picked up music a bit later than most, but guitar has become really fun, and I've been very lazy about practicing this year. I saw rapid progress last time I had a regular practice schedule, and I'd love to get back to being comfortable playing for people, open mic nights, and such. Maybe learn a few more Irish drinking songs. Translate the Ancient Runes: - Practice Spanish (Duolingo, any other program) 5 times weekly As part of my current school program, I'll be traveling to Guatemala this summer for a month-long crash course in Spanish. Obviously, if I actually know some Spanish beforehand I'll probably get more out of the experience, so I'm going to start trying to brush up on the basics this month. This will be a new habit to build, so it might be the hardest goal on here. If you've read this far, thank you for sticking with me! For all the other Scouts, I'm looking forward to getting to know you this challenge. "Baruk Khazâd!"
  17. Hello everyone! My name is Sora, and I'll be joining the Rangers this time around if you'll have me (previously a scout). The last challenge was my first in a very long time; I rejoined after a long hiatus, and semi-successfully completed my challenge with the scouts. I'm hoping to join the Rangers as I begin to explore different types of workouts. I have historically been a distance runner (cross country and track team in middle and high school). In about a month, I'll be a Freshman at the University of Michigan, and I'm hoping to try out something new. For this challenge, I want to explore different types of workouts and begin to find something I might like to do in the future. For this challenge, I will be centering around a theme from the Anime "Magi: Adventure of Sinbad" which recently finished airing. I'm currently studying abroad in Japan until August 12, so I appreciate the idea of adventure. Goal 1: Workout! Workout 5 days a week, including some mix of running and non-running exercises. One of the main ideas behind what I am trying to accomplish is based in working out. Like Sinbad, I want to try to live like other people do and experience different ways of life. Through this, I hope to find the best fit for me. I will continue running as it's what I know I am capable of. Otherwise, I will try to find new workouts to incorporate. I don't have access to a gym or anything, so body weight workouts will probably be in store. If you have any ideas for what I should try out, please let me know! Goal 2: Try Paleo! Have 6 paleo meals a week (try new recipes or make good choices out). I am currently living on my own and cooking for myself, so I would like to try to learn some new recipes and eat in a new way. I like the philosophy behind paleo, and I've wanted to give it a go for a while. This will be a little difficult due to being in a small apartment in Japan (limited kitchen and living in a country that eats a lot of rice). However, I will give it my best shot! Let me know if there is a recipe I must try! Goal 3: Smile! Brush teeth every morning and night (bonus points for mid day). Smile more. Over the past year I've become less consistent with my oral hygiene due to a wacky schedule. It's time for this to stop. Sinbad is known for his charm, and a big part of that comes from his smile, so I want to have a smile that I am confident in! Life Goal: Study the world around you! Study Japanese 7 days a week (at least 5 days of two hours a day [consisting of grammar, vocabulary, and kanji], and another 2 days of review and practice). I am in Japan, after all, so it's about time I become better at studying Japanese. I've taken a few years of classes, but I have a lot of review that I need to do. In the last challenge I improved, but now it's really time to step it up. Part of Sinbad's travels is him learning about new places and other ways of life, so what better way to do this? Overall Goal: Look Good Naked I'm hoping to cosplay Sinbad at Youmacon (the first week of November). In order to do this character justice, I want to improve my overall figure and become more confident in my appearance. Rather than having a goal like "lose X amount of weight/bf/etc", I'm simply trying to make habits that will result in that on their own. I don't want to worry about the numbers, only the work. I will have this as my overall goal for the next few challenges leading up to November! Thanks for having me, Rangers! I look forward to working among you.
  18. Hello all! My name is Blake I am 26 years old, 6'3" currently around 245 pounds. I started my weight loss journey about 18 months ago after I hit an all time high of 340 pounds! I began by cutting out my sodas and slowly phasing out the bread. Then incorporating and increasing different exercises. I did well for the first 6-9 months losing 70+ pounds before hitting a serious plateau. I followed some bad advise and changed my tactics to strictly maintaining and reincorporating all of the foods I love (pizza, cupcakes, etc.). I did maintain but eventually I realized I had to this was not working. So I again cut out the junk and focused on exercising. Since then I have been yo-yoing fairly badly and realize that I can't do it alone. And with the ridiculous overload of information available online I don't know what way to go. But, happy to have found Nerd Fitness and hope that it will help with my goals.
  19. . I have been lurking around the site for years. I participated in a few 6 week challenges that didn't go well. after a long hiatus I starting over from scratch. I realize that i never introduce myself to the community. Hello my name is Marcus. I also go by Marc or Mac or West. I am 6'5 and 380 pounds. I am lost and do not know what to do. I will like your help.
  20. I officially bought access to the NF Academy and am ready to join in the fray instead of just reading the articles that NF posts all the time and not doing anything about it. So here's my first challenge (ch 1 for short, and for book pun)! Diet: 1. Take one processed snack you have each day and replace it with a healthy protein, fruit, or vegetable 2. Eat a veggie with one meal every day Fitness: 1. Participate in an active social game at least once a week Level Up Your Life: 1. Floss at least 15 sec each day
  21. Hey guys, I am brand new and I feel in over my head. Is the layout 100% forum formatted? Or am I missing something? I am just confused on how to navigate. Intro: What up guys I am a university student that used to be a gym rat and then joined the navy and started to hate working out while serving. I like to think it was the crazy long hours, so I just lost all motivation to do anything except sleep and drink beer in my off time. Since getting out I have not worked out a single day. Ive been out for a year and a half now. Anyway, I recently saw the new Warcraft movie (WHICH WAS AWESOME BTW) and I kept thinking to myself I used to look like an Orc. For anyone that doesnt know Orcs are beefcakes. Super muscular and not the lean type of muscular but Atlas strongest man competition muscular. I would like to restore myself to my previous glory and have fun doing it. When I heard about this community I got super excited and immediately looked into it. Could someone please tell me where to start?
  22. Hey everyone, just heard about NF and knew that it'd be great to help me meet my fitness goals, as well as others. I used to be a police officer and loved it, had to leave for a while and need to get re-certified. I gained a bit of weight, and got out of shape and am working to beat my fitness standards for the police department. I think that Ranger is a good fit, balenced fitness for all the tasks that I will have to do.
  23. Hey fellow rebels. Just wanted to stop in and introduce myself. I'm a southern nerd which can be hard at times. I have tried multiple times to get in shape with varied results. It has most times ended up in a yo-yo syndrome where I lose weight then gain more back. I'm hoping my wife will join me on this journey to help keep me motivated. She's smoking hot and just wants to tone up a little. I have WAYYYY more work to do than her. My ultimate goal is to get back into good enough shape to be competitive at dirt bike endurance racing which I enjoyed very much when I was in high school. anyways, I look forward to sharing this journey with you guys and good luck to us all!!
  24. Hello from Minnesota! I'm 25, 220lbs and love fantasy, sci-fi, writing, Dungeons & Dragons, and many other things. Gamer name for almost all things I play is Altamarie. When I was in high school I got very tall so I was a very skinny kid until puberty hit. After that I gained a ton of weight and have been struggling to get down to a lower weight. About that time I was diagnoses with PCOS and told that it is probably the main reason I gained weight (especially since I was still very active in theater and dance) and had problems keeping it off. Every since them how I view myself has gone down hill which hasn’t helped my eating habits at all. Especially now that I have been thinking about having a family and there is a chance that I may not be able too. My husband and I bought a house about 8 months ago and moved with our two pugs. Ever since then I have been trying to cook more at home and do more things outside like starting a vegetable garden. But I need help and support from more than just my Husband or I tend to find myself slipping back to my old and unhealthy habits (particularly in the food department). This last week my husband and I had a conversation about getting healthy and I told him we should join the rebellion and so here I am. I aim to be a healthy eater and lose weight as well as begin my writing again. I am very excited to start leveling up. I was/ am getting back into being fiction writer. I have been published before in some anthologies but then stopped writing all together and am now working back up to it. I grew up with a sister and a brother and a Nintendo 64. Later I moved on to computer games, SIMS mainly since I wasn’t allowed to play WoW. College is when I started to play DnD and after that WoW and then Rift (it’s how my husband and I kept our distance relationship together.) I still game but am currently not hard core playing anything consistently at the moment. I am also getting back into reading which I used to do every day. Gaming History: (Favorites) Paper Mario, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Sims, World of Warcraft, Rift, Civilization V, Portal, Portal 2, any of the Tales of Games, and Majora’s Mask Lever 1 with no Class – Start: Fitness: Very basic. Gardening and the occasional walk, I used to do work out videos but never kept the motivation up to continue. I used to play sports and I miss all the activity so am looking forward to getting back out there. Nutrition: Things I need to work on here: Stop Soda drinking Eat homemade food more Bring lunches to work When I do cook I cook healthy, I just need to actually cook consistently. Current Goals - Lose 50lbs - Stop drinking soda (decrease slowly over time) - Be more active - Write Everyday - Homemade meals at least 4 times a week - No take out for lunch Question: Any women out there with PCOS have you found anything that helps with the weight loss more or less?
  25. Hey there! I'm new, sort of. I've been a pretty big lurker when it comes to Nerd Fitness, but I've finally made the commitment. So, about me. My name is Darci. I'm about a month away from my 22nd birthday. Senior in college. My biggest problems right now are self-control and persistent...and a little binge eating. I used to run a little, and was at a decent weight. In the past year, I battled Major Depression and gained 50 pounds. So... I need to change my habits. I'm very much into Yoga and Meditation, but I want to work on cardio and weight training as well. I look forward to this journey with you all! *Also, here's a pic of me as a giraffe. Because I love giraffes.
