  1. I was struggling to come up with a theme, or goals. So, I think I will just do an unchallege, and share my favorite Christmas carol I will be following NF's bodyweight Heroes Journey app at level 17 Working on rowing, Getting some movement in with GMB's Literal Immortality and walking I will be celebrating Christmas and the Advent season decorating cookies baking decorating the tree buying gifts Christmas movies parties singing
  2. Hello fellow nerds, My name is Isaac Brewster and I am thinking about trying the paleo diet. (Or some of it, as I like peanuts and beans). I think the hardest part of it will be transitioning to eating more vegetables. I don't know of any particularly tasty recipes for vegetables. (Hopefully not all vegetable based dishes though) I particularly want a recipe for a spicy sweet potato fry, but any other tasty recipes would be appreciated.
  3. Hello there all. My story is pretty short. Back when I was in high school ( late 90s ) I started body building. I was at the gym for 4 hours a day,6 days a week. I was fairly strong and thought i looked and felt the way I wanted . Then once I was in my second year of college i encountered a monster that I was vastly unprepared for. This monster goes by the name of ( Desk Job). He sneaks into your life and slowly but surely breaks down everything you worked so hard to get. About 16 years later I am now double what I weighed and feel as strong as a 19 year old cat. I have decided to do something about this. I don't want to be the man i once was, but I want to be better than he. Part of the reason i was so successful during my first attempt was being surrounded by people that had the same goals . That is part of the reason i signed up for NF. I am hoping that with your help, I will be able to get back what I lost and make that even better. I will be asking many questions since I have been out of this world for so long. The one thing that remains the same is the need for a support system.. I hope that once I am in a better place I can help others in the way that I was helped. Looking forward to knowing you all .
  4. This is me right now. I might post later but knows - sort of gotten pretty disillusioned of late ... maybe that's just me.
  5. Red finds himself backed into a Corner with a mountain on one side and the horde of Zombies on the other side, his energy failing and the horde seemingly endless Each swing taking more and more strength from him, he wonders if this is where he'll meet his end, eventually his sword becomes too heavy to hold and he embeds it into the ground as the zombies get closer and closer. Then the ground begins to crack, and the weight of the approaching Zombies starts to cause the ground to give way! Red falls in to a pit! Landing with a hard thud, he stands up only to find himself in an ancient temple. Yet, there was no time to observe his surroundings and he soon learned that he wasn't alone. Heavy breathing filled the air as something very large began to approach him. "Well, well. It's about time..." 'That voice... I know that voice!' "Is that you, Lord Bahamut?" A loud huff was his only response, "I have been waiting for a very long time for you to get here." "You... You have?" "Yes, but you weren't ready then... But now it seems that you are... This will not be easy... But I can assure you, you will never be the same again..." Red realizing he's been out of energy and breath queried, "Uhhh...What are you talking about?" In a sudden flash the Dragon Lord changed. He was slimmer, more colorful, his scales shone like brandished steel. Despite all of this, he still emitted the same ancient air of thousands of years of living on this earth. "This is what I mean, it is time for you to finally complete a Crystal." Within his newly sharpened claws, he revealed a completed Air Crystal. Shining with knowledge as old as Life itself. "Hw-- Wh--- I don't understand. How did you-- Why did you do this?" Red spoke in shock. "Simple, because it is time for you to change, and you can't without the knowledge embedded in this crystal. So I have brought it here for you." Red was stupefied, he reaches for the crystal and then suddenly, he is hit with the Dragon Lord's tail, knocking him back "FOOL! DID YOU REALLY THINK I WAS SIMPLY GOING TO GIVE THIS TO YOU?!" Red, getting up, muttered to himself, "The thought had occurred..." "Change comes with Trials and Tribulations! You must TAKE the crystal from me!! Only then can you obtain the knowledge that you seek!" Shadowboxing - Bahamut is the toughest son of a Dragon you'll ever meet and if I am going to find any way to beat him, I need to take every chance I can find and attack! Shadowboxing whenever I have the free time. So far, it's as follows: M: Between School and Work, During work break T: Between Classes, Between School and Work, Work break W: After classes Th: During the 2-3 hour break between classes F: Before work, During Work break S: Before Work S: Before Work Within these breaks, I will aim for at least 5 minutes of shadowboxing. It might be a problem if I'm not wearing proper attire. Also Whenever I get out of class/work early, that's another opportunity to throw in some shadowboxing Clean Eating: Dragons don't get tough just by eating whatever comes their way. I need to watch what I eat, especially since I'm going to be busy with projects and school! Sleep: Projects, Midterms, Exams, Quizzes, Presentations, and overall Studying will keep me from going to bed on time, This goal is to make sure that I don't forget that I'm not a robot and need rest. Also, I'm going to try to keep up with the rest of you nerds!
  6. OK somehow I posted my new challenge to the old forum so am copying and pasting to the correct forum Posted 13 September 2015 - 05:25 PM I've been away from the challenges for a couple of months and now I'm rested and rejuvinated it's time to respawn. My goal for this challenge is simply to climb back on the NF wagon gently by making life as easy and stress-free as I can. This will involve: 1. Walk! STA+2 CON+2 CHA+1 Fairly simple to explain, I'll just strap on my pedometer, get up and walk around. A = 221k steps and over B = 211k - 220k steps C = 200k - 210k steps F = Under 200k steps 2. Organise! DEX+1 CON+1 WIS+2 CHA+1 Using a blend of the techniques described in Marie Kondo's book, The life changing magic of tidying, the philosophies found in James Wellman's Stuffocation, and the topics covered in the 15 days to a new organised you articles at www.athriftymrs.com I'll be getting my act together this challenge and making life easier for myself. I have worked out 15 categories to cover so I will spend at least 2 days concentrating on each category. I'll record what I am doing on a chart and this will probably involve awarding myself shiny stickers for keeping myself on track. A = 25 days and more B = 20-24 days C = 15-19 days F = Fewer than 15 days 3. For the rebellion! WIS+3 CON+1 CHA+1 There are so many hard-working and inspirational people here at NF that I really want to get back in and surround myself in it all. Perhaps I can pick up some of that awesomeness via osmosis diffusion. So every day I will read another person's challenge, battle log or NF article and will make at least one positive comment. I'll be treating this as a "hard hat" challenge for the whole 6 weeks. Pass = Never miss 2 or more days in a row Fail = Miss 2 or more days in a row

  8. Well old Thom Ulfhedinn is back for another go. The title comes from an old GW orks phrase; "Orkes never lose, when we win we win. When we die, we iz dead and that don't count, and when we runs away, we can come back for annuver go see?" Well more or less. I haven't won my fitness battle, and I ain't dead, I stopped working out and eating right and getting on here, which is about the same as running away metaphorically speaking. But as Da Orks said it means I can come back for another go. My challenge is simple, start from the beginning and move forward. Goal One: Three workouts per week Back on the BBWW again, it worked when I first started and got me great results, so I am back to give it another go. Critical Hit: 18+ times per week 4 points, 'We wins again!' Hit: 12-17 times per week 3 points, 'Got him a good'un!' Block: 7-11 times per week 2 points 'He's a tuff'un!' Dodge: 3-6 times per week 1 point 'Oi that nearly got me!' Miss: 0-2 times per week 0 points, 'Let's scarper lads!' Strength and Stamina Goal Two: Reporting in on NF Three times per week. Let's be honest here, you guys motivate me. Getting my NF fix motivates me. Being told by some bloody awesome people that I am awesome motivates me. So I am back another go at getting motivation. Critical Hit: 18+ times per week 4 points, 'We wins again!' Hit: 12-17 times per week 3 points, 'Got him a good'un!' Block: 7-11 times per week 2 points, 'He's a tuff'un!' Dodge: 3-6 times per week 1 point, 'Oi that nearly got me!' Miss: 0-2 times per week 0 points, let's scarper lads! Charisma Goal Three: Strong soul, strong mind, strong body I need to get back to meditating again, Ultimate goal is 7 days per week, but I will be happy with three times per week to start. Time to give strengthening my soul another go. Critical Hit: 18+ times per week 4 points, 'We wins again!' Hit: 12-17 times per week 3 points, 'Got him a good'un!' Block: 7-11 times per week 2 points, 'He's a tuff'un!' Dodge: 3-6 times per week 1 point, 'Oi that nearly got me!' Miss: 0-2 times per week 0 points, let's scarper lads! Wisdom Not sure what to do with the remaining three points though, I will work it out later. Just noticed I put per week rather than per challenge for my scoring. D'oh. Even sadder none of you pointed it out to me. [emoji14]
  9. Hey everyone at Nerd Fitness, I just want to take some time of my day to say a deep and sincere thank you. Thank you for everyone that has ever pushed me, helped me stayed motivated, helped me in any which way, I appreciate every little bit of effort that you guys have given me. Without NF or it's members I would've never been able to achieve what I have so far, since joining NF. I used to go with the flow, accept things that were "good enough/close enough", but now, I go get what I want, because no one will get those things for me. NF (and its members) are the reason for this, made me realize so much about myself. I'd go out and find every single one of you that helped me (you know who you are, the list is rather long) and give you a nice firm handshake/hug, but since you're all scattered around the globe, that wouldn't be possible. That is all my dear friends at NF. Thank you and I hope you all have a great holiday season, I won't be able to get on starting this Friday night. I will arrive back the 4th or 5th of January. This is me (picture below), at the beginning of NF and where it got me so far. There is so much knowledge that people have here to be shared and I'm so grateful for that. On a side note, I just want to remind you that during the Holidays don't be so strict on your diet, enjoy yourself, if your diet is preventing you from having fun, well let go of the "diet" and have fun. This time only happens once a year. Just make sure to stay in moderation. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stéphane, the Frenchy.
  10. Hello everyone, presentation time has always put me in a strange mood. I feel embarassed and I never know what to say! So, I'll let Prof.Oak help me and I'll start saying that I'm a male and my name is Antonio. I live in Italy, at Milan and I'm facing the last year of a Business Bachelor. I like surfing the net, going on 9gag(or memecenter), writing and watching TV series. I also enjoy art and listening to pop music. I'm overweight and I'd like to loose some pounds to feel better and gain some self-confidence. I like to go around drinking and partying, but my being out of shape makes me feel unconfortable with other people. So, I decided to start the Paleo diet and to try to work out(long story short: I say try because I have a broken hand, so everything it's more difficult)! Let's see how things go and I hope to find some interesting people here, among you Rebels! Greetings, Antonio ps: for ones who wonder, I always pick Bulbasaur
  11. I'm not sure if NF has one of these already, but I often see these kinds of threads on forums. Personally I like to see the faces behind the names, wether it is at work contacting a supplier or customer, selling something to someone on the internet, forums, etc... I'll start with a picture of myself and invite you to do the same, but feel no obligation to do so! A picture of me with my dog (that I had to leave to my parents when I left the province for work) this spring when I went home to see my parents for Easter weekend!
