  1. Pothro Zona is a name derived from a nonsense word used in a double dactyl (a poem with the first line a nonsense word of seven syllables), and Arizona (where I lived at the time): pothroformiasis. I started in Adventurers, but discovered as a noobie I should be here. The short-term goal: get through a ten minutes treadmill cardio stress test in August. Long-term goal: live an active life in retirement (which starts a week before the cardio stress test). Although I've been somewhat active earlier in life (bicycling, gym), have been a chronic sufferer of deskjobitise for five years, sitting in front of a computer. Waist is larger, arms are weaker, stamina is gone. Goals To have a healthy heart and get through the cardio stress test - I will walk to the clubhouse three times a week (Sun, Wed, Fri) - I will add at least five minutes per week (starting at five minutes) on the elliptical - I will do the beginner body workout three times per week (Mon, Thu, Sat) and able to complete three sets in six weeks (starting with one) 20 body weight squats 10 push ups 20 walking lunges 10 dumbbell rows (using a gallon milk jug) 15 second plank 30 Jumping Jacks (I'm not sure I'm up for these) - To lose a little weight (goal: 200, loss of 10 pounds) Life quest - Reveal the hidden knowledge of archives I will write for fifteen minutes every day until I have a professional paper finished. Continue my efforts in lexicography, documenting the shift of language of archives in the cloud (http://arstweb.clayton.edu/interlex/)

  3. not sure if this is the best place to post this but I'd really like some feedback about the Nerd Fitness Academy, please! The academy sounds like a really fun way to keep myself motivated and I am thinking about rewarding myself when I finish my first challenge by signing up. I am hoping that anyone who has signed up can give me a little feedback. I am still a super beginner when it comes to fitness so I assumed the academy would be a good program for me what do you guys think? One other thing is I am wondering about the differences between the men's academy and the women's academy. It seems like there are some cool extras for the ladies but (and I know these worries are totally dumb and unfounded) I have this nagging worry I might miss out something magical that the dudes get. I think this is some subconscious conditioning from seeing so many gym programs specifically for men and wimpy lame cardio aerobics classes for women. I know this is silly so someone please just reassure me and tell me I am wrong. Thank you!
  4. Hi I’m Poe, This is my first 6 week challenge so I am at level 1. Obviously my class is Ranger My Diet / Fitness goals for this challenge are: Go to CrossFit twice a week without missing a single day (as I have been missing several days and am thus wasting the money I spent for my membership) - 5 Pts Run at least half of a mile without stopping (I am terrible at running and I am signed up for the warrior dash on June 22nd so I need to get to cracking) - 5 Pts Only drink water or tea (I have been doing fairly well with this lately but I would like to crack down on my empty calorie intake and soda and juice all together even if its diet.) – 2 Pts My level up my life goal is: Finish writing three more chapters of my book (I have been procrastinating really bad and would like to engrain some discipline for this task as I really enjoy it and just need to set some time aside for it in my life.) – 3 Pts I have made out a white board calendar/schedule on my refrigerator so that I will keep myself on track. Plus it will be a reminder every time I go to open the fridge that I have goal and will maybe stop trying to snack when I don’t need to. I'm excited to get started!
