  1. I'm looking to start up a 1-month membership to a local health center to amp up my progress for the challenge, and I'm looking for maybe a couple buddies (or the more the merrier!) I can text with to help keep each other accountable. I'm pretty much a noob and a new recruit, and am interested in free weights, some body weight work, and elliptical exercises. I'm hoping to get my 5k time under 35' again by the end of the challenge! Anyone game? We can private message each other our numbers or something? Text works better than computer for me, typically, which is why I ask. If you're game, I'm game!
  2. Hey y'all! I'm Rose, a college student and nerd that is struggling to get fit. I've been on the chubby side since the fourth grade (I've also been a bit of a bookworm since then too, I'll read any piece of fiction I can get my hands on). I've tried and failed several times to get fit, and I'm hoping y'all can help me out! My Mission: To have a positive self-image, develop healthy habits to bring into the real world, and have the strength to take on the adventure that is life. My Motivation: There's two parts to my motivation. One, I want to look good so I can be more confidant and actually enjoy getting new clothes and such. The other is that I want to love my body the way I think God would want me to. I'm deeply rooted in my faith and while He loves me no matter what shape I'm in, I want to respect and love this body that He has blessed me with. My Goals: 1. Keep a food and activity diary daily A: Miss one day or lessB: Miss two daysC: Miss three daysD: Miss four or more days2. After week 1 make one adjustment each week to make healthy diet (ie: cutting down desserts, running a calorie deficit, etc.) A: Achieve at least 4/5 goalsB: Achieve 3/5 goalsC: Achieve 2/5 goalsD: Achieve 1/5 goals3. Workout at least four times a week (3 strength training days + 1 fun day) A: Workout 4/4 timesB: Workout 3/4 timesC: Workout 2/4 timesD: Workout 1/4 timesLife Goal: Pick out a new devotional book for the new semester and set aside 15 minutes each day to read it once classes start up again. Well the easy part is over, and the hard part begins.
  3. So I have finally taken the plunge into the Nerd Fitness realm, and I'm kinda excited. Here's a little about me- General Info: Y'all can call me Rose. I'm a college student, studying business. I like putzing around the internet and watching Doctor Who. One of my favorite words is huzzah and I've been a bookworm since fourth grade. Fitness-type things: I've been saying "this is the summer/ year/ semester" that I get fit since middle school, and have never succeeded. This time is different. Instead of concentrating on losing weight, I'm concentrating on developing a healthy lifestyle to fall back on when I get into the stressful "real world" post-graduation. Since I'm moving off campus in the fall, it's the perfect opportunity to start doing exactly this. Some of my goals include Learning how to cook healthy meals Recognising healthy and unhealthy options Developing an exercise habit Getting to a healthy weight (at 5'6" and 164 lbs I have a way to go)Some Nerdy things: As mentioned before, I love Doctor Who. I'm also into Sherlock (series 3 seriously can't come soon enough). I'm a Nerdfighter, know way too much about Harry Potter, and enjoy Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Star Trek. I also kinda like accounting. I can't wait to get involved in the Nerd Fitness community and start doing 6 week challenges with y'all!
