  1. I've always had irregular periods due to being underweight most of my life but I am a little worried after this last period. I've just gained 4 pounds after a week of eating the calories i'm supposed to and working out. My period came early after 3 weeks which is normal for me but it only lasted for barley 2 days! I've never had a period that short and it kind of worries me if something is wrong. My mother says cysts on the tubes runs in the family (I cant remember the exact "doctor terminology" atm) pretty much they can keep me from getting pregnant and may require surgery if they are big enough. After 5 years with my hubby and no pregnancy I know I should get things checked out. I've always worried about my period just stopping due to being underweight and that's one of the main reasons why I've kicked my butt in gear reach a healthy weight. It's funny how all my friends and sister are on their 2nd or 3rd child and I've yet to have one. I overthink things a lot and worry about how my health affects my ability to have a child. I'm only 21 so I know I have time (hopefully) but any knowledge on this would be much appreciated.
  2. What are some good exercises when all you really want to do is curl up in a ball and watch netflix? I'm trying to inspire myself to stay with my goals but the weird hormone stuff is screaming at me to do nothing and EAT.
  3. I am so tired of the up/down party my body is throwing... I don't know what I need, but maybe knowing it's not just me will help? Please share if you feel the same... Not only does my female body naturally avoid making the muscles happen, therefore using less stored fuel ("ESTROGEN!!!" read like Captain Kirk), but I also get to fight a battle with my will to go on every month when my body decides it needs to keep ALL OF THE WATER and that chocolate is the only way to avoid doing the murders to people. You could say "that is why you shouldn't focus solely on the scale", but yeah, but my body feels giant and my clothes fit tighter and my head wants to cry at ALL available times, so... those are all of the metrics I have been told to use and I can't find one thing to hold onto right now to remind myself of how far I have come and how I am capable of getting to the place I want to be... Mostly because all I can see is a pile of chips and candy bars and buffalo chicken wings... and I want them all in my face... Does anyone feel the same? Has anyone here overcome this pattern? Does anyone want to share? Men, feel free to chime in if you have a similar struggle...
  4. Fun question here about our favorite lady in red. So, since Sunday I've started working out as part of the 6 week challenge and eating low/lower carb (cycling between 50 and 150 carbs depending on what exercise I've got planned). I've just been doing really basic stuff and I've been eating around 1400 - 1600 calories a day. Since then my period has started acting up; I've been spotting and it's annoying! It feels like I'm gonna start a full blown period but I'm not due for a while (birth control FTW). My observation is, that it seems waaayyy too soon for just 4 days of lower carb eating and starting a light workout program to have much of an effect on my body. Apparently I'm wrong. Anyone else experience this?
  5. I'm feeling awful this week - my muscles are stooopid heavy, they hurt, and I'm STARVING for junk food...or any food, but a salty sausage pizza, gum drops, and a nap would be heaven. My workouts aren't great and I'm forcing that hard hat on to make it downstairs for a pathetic 25 mins before I flop down like a fish and whine some more. Not surprisingly I'm PMSing and no doubt in a few days I'll be visited by Aunt Flo. Any advice? I've been paleo for a few weeks and I'm really loving it...so I'd hate to deviate/cheat for any reason.
  6. hello ladies! I just started lifting, and my period is set to start in about a week. What products do you ladies usually use? I use a Lunette cup, or cloth pads. With squatting, though, I am wondering if the cup is ok to use, because I squat and bear down to remove it. I am really not a tampon fan, but I could use one during my lifting sessions. Anyway- suggestions?
