  1. I swear, all the good woot stuff hit me in the last little bit So... skill-wise, here's a comparison and why this is woot-worthy. My first invert ever (August 25 2014) And this is the invert done without assist from yesterday! Woohoo! When we did inverted V my instructor commented on how I didn't need too much help so I decided to test inverts on my own. And I got it! Wasn't really expecting the full thing with a nice roll, just like half of it. But I got it! WOOT! Other things to woot about that have happened recently; I got over a crohn's flare in 1 1/2 month (It took me 3-4 months to control the last one and then I tried a new prescription which that induced this last one)I now weight about 185 lbs according to the gym's scale (down from 210 in January)My pants that I bought last year (at 185lbs) are slipping down a lotI got new yoga pants and guess what? SIZE MEDIUM I lost about 3 inches on my waist and 2 on my hips since June (The waist barely budged from April-July so this is awesome)I'm almost out of debt (should be in the next few weeks)So yea. WOOT!
  2. So, apparently, while I was laying in bed with a concussion two weeks ago, I decided that a) poledance is awesome and you need to be strong for it. b: I secretly love dancing, and especially sexy dancing. c) I should go do it. d) it will make me strong. And then there were a few super-brave moments where I walked into a fitness club, and returned the next weekend to take a trial class, and suddenly now I am really doing this thing, like really doing it, and it's super-nice and making me strong, and the teacher speaks some English and everything is fine, actually. Apart for the part where it seems like my skin is made of glue, and I can't do some tricks yet, because I'm stuck to the pole like woa. then again, I get stuck to a lot of things, like spoons glasses bus seats my laptop my own legs all the things that are in the train coins windows people the floor ...pretty much every smooth surface, really. I'm like a human slug or something. This means that I am suddenly going somewhere twice a week to have a serious workout, and that in it's turn means that my challenge changes quite a bit, and I will focus more on supporting my pole habits, and less on "do x pushups" (I'll probably still do pushups, because I love doing pushups.) - make actual tasty food 3 times a week, that contains lentils or buckwheat or vegetables or something, instead of pasta or rice. Make these a proper meal, with spices and garlic and whatever else people eat. take pictures to prove it. - stretch. my hamstrings, to be precise. all the rest is fine and bendy. I should have some kind of battle plan here? - Please drink water. I keep not doing this and feeling like shit because it's summer and HOT. I'm an idiot. this is a goal again. the plan is to just put a bottle of water next to me while working. - life goal! get a job. being unemployed is no fun and I am sick of it. I want actual money to buy stuff with and pay my rent and food and take care of the catfriend. I'm trained as an illustrator and animator, I'm damn good, and I will find work that isn't underpaid. I will: - polish my portfolio a bit (1 st week) - find people to send it to (a friend has a list of publishers, but he's lazy about giving it to me. if he doesn't give me the list, I make my own damn list.) - send it to those publishers. (2nd- 4th week) - look for jobs making 2D game graphics. I have the experience and skills needed, I'm just... there are jobs here in Serbia, but I am leaving the country soon, so should I look for work or not???? I don't know! aaah! There is no suck work where I'm going I'll think about this one. I miss making games, that is sure.
  3. HELLO & WELCOME! As the title suggests - this is a PVP for all Pole tricks & positions! This can be for everyone at different levels (I will be separating levels on the spreadsheet once I complete it all) Some rules to follow: - You must post a picture of you doing a different pole trick (one trick per person allowed - I will detail this on the spreadsheet, as in you will have to pop your username beside the pole trick listed to show that you've done it). If a trick already has a name beside it you cannot do it! (this rule may change depending on how many experienced polers we have on here) Actually, I have changed my mind - I will post 3-4 different tricks per week (all of different levels) and you will be required to do that trick I will tick it off on the spreadsheet once everyone has completed their week. I will have to add everyone's names to the spreadsheet once they let me know they would like to do this. This is not limited to females either, men pole too! - 1 trick per week per person please - You must do the pole trick in a different place for each picture you complete - i.e, doing a fireman spin at a park then a basic climb on a random street pole. (this may change to beer pole if we start craving beer and poles....) - You must perform these tricks SAFELY - your safety is of utmost importance!! If you cannot do a trick/are not at a certain strength level then please DO NOT attempt it! There is a good reason why I am putting these in to levels!! We do not want any injuries & I will not be responsible for any injuries obtained (Attempt at your own risk). If you really want to attempt a trick and you think you are strong enough please ensure you have a spotter. Not someone who just stands there and watches but someone who is actively holding you and can support your weight if you fall. Also - I will post relevant tutorials for each trick and I am able to offer tips if needed. - Please ensure you have a sturdy pole! (if you are experienced I hope you have an X-Pole as they are proved to be amazing) You do not want to end up like a lot of these people: - Please also make sure you don't punch above your abilities! We don't want you ending up like these people: - To ensure you have adequate grip and don't end up like people in the videos above do not moisturise the day before/the day of your trick, do not cover your skin with clothing as your skin is what makes you grip to the pole. (You will most likely get bruises!) If anyone else has any more rules/tips they would like add please do so. I will be getting the spreadsheet up and running as soon as I can - Edit - I can't be bothered working out how to create a spreadsheet so I will just post it on here as I go -
  4. Hi all This is my first challenge. Fitness was never a pleasure for me when doing it for it's own sake.I am naturally lazy. Dance was my first love! A few years ago I discovered pole dance and aerial silks/hoop/trapeze.I found myself wanting to do pushups/V ups/leg raises and running so that I could get better at my sport! My body type is not naturally agile, however I gain both muscle and fat easily. I wish my starting race was an elf..but I'm more like a cross between a dwarf and an orc?I am naturally quite flexible and if I was a superhero I would be Elastigirl!I used to say I had the weakest arms ever, but noticed improvements in strength after all my circus work! This year I've had a number of injuries/barriers to training this year-disc injury to back, broken nose and recently bereavement in that order. MAIN QUEST My aim is to get back on the horse!!Have enough stamina/strength etc to last 3 hour class again. SMALL GOALS FOR MAIN QUEST 1.Do one core workout per week/one cardio and one strength 2.Take stairs at work every day (5 flights) 3.Up iron intake!(I am vegetarian, don't like eggs and avoid dairy-except for cheese!I forget to take my supplements and end up being anaemic. This does not help with training) LIFE QUEST I'm skipping the life quest since I have a tendency to burn the candle at both ends. Can you do an anti-quest?If so it would be to relax more and slow down! Once I've completed this quest I would probably like to join the assassins guild. Although I'm a druid by nature (even in WOW),my training is more assassin focused. Wish me luck!! Angelyn
