  1. Agnarr

    Agnarr: Respawn

Hi! It's been a long long while. During summer vacation I derailed embarracingly, had a bazillion beers, ate whatever the heck I wanted, woke up every day feeling like I had lava on my guts and one of my friends was mistakenly taken into custody and had to spend 4 days locked up until we managed to get things straight and get the poor dude out. Good times... But now it's time to get back on track and shed the extra Kgs. I've already returned to CF and Krav Maga. I'm also officialy dieting, that is obsessively tracking macros and calories (especially calories) even on w
  2. I've been out of the NF loop for a while, but I'm back and ready to commit to a month of focused adventuring. Goal #1: Lose 10 pounds My weight has been sneaking up over the past year or so, mostly through neglect. Diet needs a bit of maintenance, mainly cutting down on starchy carbs (especially bread). The plan is to try one new vegetable a week, make sure I have at least some fruit and/or veggies every day, and exercise due diligence with high-glycemic foods (did I mention how much I love bread?) Going for more fibre, good-quality protein in reasonable serving sizes, and

After two semesters of butt kicking (and sitting way, way too much), I've got myself organized and sorted and I'm ready for Challenge 2. I'm keeping it simple for this challenge. I've made the mistake in the past of getting excited about a new start and setting incredibly optimistic goals that needed to be done by tomorrow in order for me to feel successful, and yeah. We've all been there, right? I tested this out last week during the rest and it worked out well. So my simple goals, and the steps I'm taking to set myself up for success: Food
  4. "For a righteous man falls seven times, and rises again". Proverbs 24:16 I may not be very religious, but that passage speaks to me. Seven falls. Seven respawns. When I started the Nerd Fitness™ journey, I weighed around 275 lbs, and was already eating relatively well. The I went into a deep depressive episode that lasted for weeks. When I finally came out of it, I was 308 lbs., and my food choices were those of a man looking forward to his 1st heart attack. I have started walking up and down my staircase for 14 minutes a day, but I'm not consistent. I need
  5. Hey, everyone. It's been a long time. Nerd Fitness was fantastic for me, my health, and my fitness two years ago. Then this happened: I don't know what happened. Maybe I was burned out on dieting. Maybe I was discouraged by my lack of progress. Maybe my progress stalled because I forgot to adjust my calories. Maybe I needed a new program in the gym to keep me interested. Maybe work became too stressful. Whatever the cause, the last 18 months brought me here: - I'm a lot weaker than I was before -
  6. When we last left our hero, she was preparing for her journey. She started off strong, but got distracted by holiday sweets and busy with friends and family that her preparation took a back seat. With the holidays over and a new year on the horizon, it is time to hit the reset button and start a new game. Back to training. Feeling like she has fallen behind and has not made much progress, RhiaWolfe trains to grow stronger. Can’t fight battles with Stalfos and Moblins if you’re not strong enough to swing a sword and take a blow to the shield! Goal 1: Back to T

Woo! Let's try this again, eh? After a very stressful end to 2016 both personally and professionally, I'm trying to get back into the fitness habit. My circus gym has been closed for over a year, but is reopening this week and I'll be back in the air on the day this challenge officially starts. Seems like a sign, or something, so I'm going to take another stab at challenges. Why not? Note: if you've been here before, some of these goals are going to look very familiar. I keep not-quite-succeeding, and so keep making the same goals over and over again.
  8. I'm back, and ready to start fresh in a new year! My last (almost) year on Nerd Fitness definitely had some ups and downs, some successes and failures, but the one thing that lasted all year was that I was actually, consciously thinking about my health, even if I wasn't doing much about it. I consider that a success, and something I've never been able to sustain for that long. This year it's time to turn some more of that thought into action. I'm going to restart in the Academy and actually do all of the mindset quests (I skipped a few last time). I am also going to mak
  9. Hey everyone. I'm late to the party, but I'm here! I haven't tried to do a challenge since October 2015 (apparently)...and I didn't finish that one. I'm not very fancy, but I'll try and do a decent one this time. Social... I moved to Richmond, VA (from southern Mississippi) in August. While I like it here, I haven't had a chance to make many friends yet. So, for this challenge, I'm going to make it a priority to hangout with someone at least once a week. If I don't hang out with someone, then I will go and do something social (go to a bar or whatnot). Hangout with some
  10. Mission Log: Welcome to the Rebellion The cantina in Ord Mantell was subdued. No surprise really, thanks to the frequent fighting between the Rebellion, Empire and anyone just plain looking for a fight. But leave was leave, so Gar sat in a small booth nestled in a corner of the cantina and nursed her drink. She kept a sharp eye out in case of trouble, but was blissfully undisturbed until a stranger in hooded robes invited themselves to the booth. "Greetings," Gar said carefully in basic. Never hurt to be polite. Even so, her hand twitched as she thought of the blaster at he

I'm back, I'm recharged, and I'm hopefully ready to kick some ass this challenge! So I can avoid making some of the mistakes from the last 3-4 months, I'm keeping things very simple. Goal 1: The Daily grind I'm not quantifying how much, but I need to do pull ups, push ups, and arm balances every day. Some days, it might be a single pull up, some counter push ups, and 5 seconds in crow. It has been entirely too easy for me to either feel too burned out to try anything or to get wrapped up in other life stuff and fail to set aside the time. This forces me to at least do some
  12. I need a simple challenge to prove to myself that I can do this. I did really well the first month on NF but then went way too overzealous and it didn't work out. Plus, life has kinda punched me in the face and threw me for a loop. BUT I want to continue striving towards my ultimate goals. Get a flat stomach, strong arms, achieve the splits, read a lot, and Platinum more games. - Rogue Strength - Goal: Complete 5,10,15 routine as found on Pinterest MWF. Stretch, yoga, or dance on off days. - Kitty Pride - Goal: Complete the challenge. Encourage myself and fo
  13. So far the only consistency I have managed with the monthly challenges is not finishing them. After skipping a month, this will be my third try. REBEL CHALLENGE: Diet 96 oz water per day ( 30 Day Habit Challenge ) Nutrition: No fast food Fitness Reach NF Level 13 (Currently just under NF Level 10) Level 12 Fitness: Complete one month of workouts ( Strength 3x Week= 12 total) | Level Up Your Life Plan Summer Road Trip Vacation with son 1x per week = Hit that mark! 14. Hey Druids All of my previous challenges have been with the Assassins, but I hope you don't mind me visiting, since my goals this go-round are closer to this group's style. After some adventuring... I seem to have taken an arrow to the knee, and to let my body recover I'm going to lay off of high-impact workouts and stick to yoga, pilates and meditation along with tracking my food this challenge. I'll have to see how my knees and strength are doing after this challenge to know if I'm ready to go back to running around and jumping off of things, but for now I need the (deceptively, I know
  15. Hello everyone, it's been a while. I stopped logging onto NF after being here for nearly 2 years - all the things it taught me about creating a healthy lifestyle had well and truly sunk in. I was putting in time at the gym, getting better at my chosen sport of Roller Derby - passing my skills and becoming a fully-fledged bouting skater, something no one thought I had the guts to do - and was managing somehow to eat healthy and balance my 40-hour-a-week job as a waitress with all of the above and somehow not dying of exhaustion (although I'm sure I came close a few times!)
  16. Good afternoon fellow rebels, I have tried this a couple different times, and under a different name. I have burned that building down because I need to start over, and reading through Level Up Your Life I feel like I am finally getting a hold of my path. There has been a lot of planning, and a lot of dreaming, and now is time for action. Besides all of my big bullet points, I need to choose those 4 things to make actionable items and stick to it. So here, we, GO! Fitness: Go to the gym 3 times a week: To be honest, I am mostly there already with this. I have a lot of fitness goals for
  17. Guess who's back?! (No, not Slim Shady....) It's been at least 6 months since I last took part in a proper challenge (holy crap, it's been so long!). I realize this one is coming a few days late, but I've had all kinds of shit going down lately and I'm slowly catching up. There's a lot to fill you all in on, but I'll do my best to give you as brief of a synopsis as possible before moving forward with my challenge goals. For those who don't know or remember me - HI! I'm your friendly neighbourhood Ranger-Cyborg who has a hankering for adventure, crafting
  18. The training dummy swung around and smacked Altamarie squarely between the shoulders. She fell forward with a small yell and landed face down in the dirt. She just decided to stay there. Her last few adventures had not gone well at all and she was struggling. She laid there in the dirt and just thought over everything she could have done better. Part way through the pity party she was having, she felt a hand on her shoulder and shifted her face from the dirt to see who it was. She turned her head to see not one but several pairs of boots and one pair of knees. She rolled over more. Groani
  19. Disclaimer: This has been a hell of a year!! Plus, keeping it positive here Secondary Disclaimer: Really, I'm going to really respawn this time This is going to be a respawn of Intergalactic (and sometimes inter-dimensional) proportions I have been on a roller coaster of a year and with 40 right around the corner, it's time to really get back on the ball and get myself in shape in all ways. This is something I really need to commit to in a major way. So, without further ado, here comes the challenge!!! This challenge (and for several more to come afterwards) wi
  20. ~*~ The Cracked Belle ~*~ A Respawned Raconteur-Adventurer Challenge Intro for many years, I was "jtggodqos" on the forums. I struggled with many things -- one of which was trying to still be an angsty teen-like whiner while I had long-since graduated college. for the last two years or so, I've been MIA. I left. I didn't stop working on fitness; I just stopped being here on the forums. then about one year ago, I relocated -- and my world changed. I moved about 1,200 miles away from everything I knew, and I fell apart. but it's time to rebuild, to respawn.
  21. Alright, it's time for a take two. I struggled with my first return challenge, and then a cold kind of cut me off from finishing up the last week of the challenge. So, I'm calling a redo/restart/respawn. Here are the goals from last challenge, so I can meet them all the second time around. I am going to start early with Week 0. It's not going to count for the challenge, per se, but I still want to track it. As before, getting to the gym is not so much of a challenge for me because Brandon and I have a pretty strict schedule about it, and I only want to give myself goals that are an actual chal
  22. Well, that sucked. Just before Christmas I feel off the wagon, hard. I shouldn't berate myself too much, but it was a bad time. I stopped going out to walk, I ate more sugar than is really advisable, I didn't get to the gym nearly enough. All around, it was a mess. But hey, one bad month =/= total failure. I need to respawn, and I'm working on a useful plan for that. I think part of the issue is that I've had a hell of a time coming up with good rewards. Up until now, I've been using food as a reward. It wasn't until early last month that I realized how much I was doing th
  23. Hey, guys. Two years ago, I worked really hard to lose weight and get in shape. Nerd Fitness, the community, the challenges, and the articles were a huge part of my short-term success. And a year and a half ago, I quit working. Since then, I've been very stressed, have gone through major life changes, been very sedentary, and been feeding well. I'm starting again. But it's been so long, I hardly remember how things work. And I'm not even sure how to contact the people I was working with, if they're even still here. Further challenges: I have no accoun
  24. Hello! I joined NF about 4-5 years ago and I had made great progress on losing weight. I made great friends that I still talk to some of them to this day. But I haven't started a challenge in a year. Before NF I weighed close to 256 pounds. Further back I almost weighed 300 pounds! I wanted to join the Marines so I exercised like crazy to try to get to the weight requirement of 170 pounds. Some years later, I never made it to 170 lb. and I still am not a Marine. Getting married and not wanting to leave your spouse will do that to you lol! But I weigh a lot less!! Curren
  25. Where to begin…..I’m a 30 year old mother of one little boy and recently completed a three year whirlwind of moving, commuting long distances, and childbirth. Needless to say healthy habits got lost in the frenzy of activity and now I am where I am and somewhat in a stable routine (I feel like with kids you never truly have a set routine ever again). Trying to get back to living a healthy lifestyle and taking it a bit more slowly than I did previously while also incorporating the new reality of hypothyroidism. I have been tracking my food for the past month on myfitnesspal and will be
