N is for Nutrition . + 2 CON 90% Paleo and gluten free. Prepare all meals at home. 1 cheat allowed each week. Track food on MFP and log on PVP. Utilize to adjust calories but keep carbs under 100 g each day. I have been messing around with this since my first challenge. Consistency is the key. 8pts/week. 46/challenge E is for Exercise . +4 STR and + 3 STA Strength training 3x per week ( BBWW or Weights) Cardio 3x per week (video, jump rope, run/walk) Walking 3x per week Wear pedometer and work to 10,000 steps a day Continue functional fitness during the day ( lunges, squats, push-ups ) 11pts/week. 66pts/challenge W is for Water +1 CON 3 L per day. One cup coffee in morning. No soda. Tea after consume water allowed and one alcohol cheat a week. 7pts/week. 42pts/challenge D is for Dexterity +3 DEX I am using " the ability to move in a way that is graceful". Flexibility. Rolling into prime arthritis weather and this focus always seems to help me. Stretching routine 3x a week. (Utilize videos and UTube) working on sciatica and hips. Stretching before and after workouts. Yoga video 1x week 11pts/week. 66pts/challenge Life goal. +1 WIS Keep working on house projects. One thing per day. No lists just do. This worked before and it can again! Also +2 CHA for Adventurer Ambassador duties. Will post mini summary daily and a weekly summary with points. Can't log onto NF until daily exercise is done. With that out of the way, the story so far...... --- Welcome to the World of NerdFitness Putting their trust in a raving lunatic named Teros, a ragtag group naming themselves the RPG Fanatics faced their first foe: Sodamus. Along the way, the group rescued others that aided their quest; most notably Sulak; a goat monster that was held captive and specializes in arcane gem crafting. Sodamus' minions were a goblin horde and were dispatched. Sodamus was a demon-king responsible for the rise in new peppy 'elixirs'. Lo and behold, it turns out the demon-king's concoction was made with his own filth extracted from boils on his back and mixed with a blend of dirty water and drugs known as 'sugar' and 'caffeine'. The RPG Fanatics slayed the beast, only to deal immediately afterwards with three agents of the FrostKing. His minions froze the town of level 1 rebels as well as causing much destruction and mayhem. Two allies; the ravens Huginn and Muninn, explained the situation that has befallen the heroes. There are major Demon-Kings that have crept up to control the realm, and it was now the RPG Fanatic's quest to end them all. Sodamus was just the beginning- starting a chain reaction. The heroes have the attention of the mysterious RED ONE, as well as the other Demon-kings. Our heroes trekked through the Scout's Plains up past the Ranger's Fort to the Warrior's Hall. There, the FrostKing's draugr minions of ice and bone clashed in an epic battle that saved the Warriors from overwhelming odds. Putting an end to the FrostKing was no easy task; being that he was the manifestation of being frozen in fear and inactivity. He was beheaded with some creative thinking, and the RPG Fanatics headed back south to help the Level 1 rebel town heal. After helping rebuild the level 1 town, the ravens spoke of another threat looming over the horizon: Distractia. The group enlisted the aid of others that rallied behind the core group of the RPG Fanatics. They made their way to Distractia's casino- a place filled with all sorts of addictions and distractions to keep people from realizing their full potential. Distractia was a different type of foe; enlisting the use of riddles, poison gas, killer mannequins, sorcery in neverending hallways, and his jester-minions. In the end, Distractia's death came by a dagger to the heart from a quick-acting hero in the group. Before his abrupt demise, he spoke lovingly of his 'Maru', which according to the picture framed by his piano was some sort of other demon-queen. The RPG Fanatics made their way out of Distractia's Casino and back to civilization to deal with the next threat to the realm: Acerbus. Acerbus' clouds of black shadow started to show their tendrils and the RPG Fanatics knew what they must do. They plowed through the burning sands of the south-west and went to the tomb of Depression Incarnate, The Black Dog, The Misguided Tales of Cerebrus and Anubus- The Demon-King Acerbus: Although a worthy foe; his light-stealing magics were not enough. With some crafting thinking and a stroke of luck by the group, he was defeated. What events lay on the horizon? The ravens tell of very few Demon-Kings left, however with every demon that is slain, the ones remaining are able to siphon the dead one's essence- thus becoming stronger. Every opponent that the group must face becomes evermore increasing in threat. With that, the story begins again...   3. This is challenge #10 for me. I'm basing my challenge on this: I'll bold the lyrics Leonidas says that inspired the goal: 'SPARTANS! Let's start this! Show this petty officer who's the hardest. The biggest mistake that you've ever made, I'll toss you like a frag grenade I'll stomp you in the face with my sandals enraged and tonight we shall rhyme in the shade Your puny fans are fat nerds on computers Jerkin off to games giving themselves first person shooters Your armor's hard but my abs are harder You're in my hood now chief - THIS IS SPARTA Ha! I've had better battles with my 6 year old son I don't need fire power when I'm rocking these guns I'm king! You sleep in a freezer in outer space I'd look you in the eyes, but you're too much of a b*tch to show your face' --------------------- 1) Whole 30. It's mandatory now to not feel like a pile of pig s@#t. 2) SPARTANS! Let's start this! / THIS IS SPARTA - Complete the Spartan Race in roughly 3 weeks. This is pass or fail. Nervous as hell. 3) Your armor's hard but my abs are harder - 1,000 Ab Twists / 300 Seconds of planking ( total) 4) I don't need fire power when I'm rocking these guns - 1,000 Pushups (total) 5) I'd look you in the eyes, but you're too much of a b*tch to show your face - Be brave and post a picture of myself on here. Stats not determined yet. --------------------- I think this challenge is very different from what I normally do. Usually goals should be given a grade. Two of these are only pass or fail - either I do or I don't do them. The others are a specific number, as opposed to consistency-based. Normally, I try and just get into a rhythm of doing something consistently. The time for that has changed. I now have a very, VERY clear goal of getting through the Spartan Race during this challenge. Even if I come in dead last; that's still better than all the people that were too scared to try. Because of this looming deadline; I'm technically starting the challenge tomorrow - 5 days early. I can't afford to wait until challenge time to get my warface on. Every day I slack is a day wasted. Any and all 300 / Spartan related pics or gifs are welcome. I'm going to need all the motivation I can get. Last challenge, my mini-challenge lie to myself was 'I am a Spartan'. I aim to make that lie a truth.

  5. Here it is day one and I am already dreading this challenge. I am just not mentally ready for it. Plus I did something so my lower back is really hurting today. Oh well sometimes you just have to suck it up and deal with pain right? I will write more later.
  6. Hi everyone! I'm Teros and this will be my 9th challenge. I slumped the last 2 weeks of the previous challenge because of depression and then a massive screw up in terms of eating. I'm a sad panda because of this I'm fixing that this challenge by coming back http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxcWbOZ-AC8 What helped me immensely was believing in Consistency>Intensity last challenge. I want to keep going with this by building a full everyday routine. This challenge I'm aiming for a Flawless Victory 1) Whole 30- Gotta eat right. Nothing else to say. 2) Cold Showers- I just started taking cooler showers in the morning. It's tough to not turn the heat up but I do feel better so this is something I want to get used to. I've read a bunch of benefits from taking cold showers. 3) Workout Routine- I want to work out everyday but the amount varies per day. I at least want to get a 20 minute walk in everyday in the mornings with my dog before I have to go to work. On non-work days I'll be doing: Walking & P/L/P & Sledgehammer & Kettelbell & Sandbag. Any mix of those. I'm currently up to 30/30/10(rows) and I hope to get up to 50/50/50(rows or upgrade weight) by the end of the challenge. 4) Survive g/f's family OR something else to be named later. Last year was a clusterf$@k when her family came up. I went from eating relatively paleo pre-family to eating donuts and Doritos for breakfast and feeling sick to my stomach every single day. Literally ate take-out 2-3 times a day, every day, for a solid week. It spiraled both my g/f and I into eating more horrible garbage for months until I did my first whole 30. I want to have a plan and I want to make sure my g/f talks to her mom so we have a couple of planned cheats as opposed the garbage-thon we went through. *Possible #5* Meditate on the wall of positivity for 5 minutes a day: Points to be figured out later.

Now, while helping the townsfolk and resting for another battle; the adventure begins again... -- The Level 1 rebel camp was not back to 100%, but it was very close. All the rebels and their animals were thawed. One young lad dressed in green was hugging his horse, Epona, happy to have their friend back. The blacksmith shop was back to functional, as well as new crops being sewn and many of the shacks people were living in had been rebuilt into log cabins. More rebels from far away lands arrived on the shores; the old mingled with the new as people set out on their adventures. The raven, Muninn nodded in approval. The camp was just about sustainable. Huginn swept in towards his friend and they murmured to each other. They agreed, it is time. Muninn swooped towards Teros, "This calm won't last forever. It is time. Huginn has given me word that Distractia's Casino has been swelling with more and more people. They have been boasting about new technologies and tricks; luring more into his time-warped walls. Assemble the group, and see if any newcomers would like to join. We must leave shortly." Muninn spoke with Teros a bit more and agreed. Teros ordered the call and rallied the RPG Fanatics once again. According to the ravens, Distractia is a mentally chaotic demon-king that is never seen, only heard about. He owns a massive complex that has all sorts of amusements. Some are rides, some are gambling halls, but the glitz, the glamor, the amazing aura of the establishment was enough to entrance many a wary soul to become lost in time to pleasantries. Distractia's halls had no sort of windows and always had permanent lighting fixtures to disorient people into not knowing what time or day it was. The exit-ways were intentionally confusing and plotted out to make sure it was easier to stay a while longer and play than to go back to their family or other priorities. The food there was tainted with likely the same foulness that Sodamus had used to keep people stuffing their fill on a constant basis. These people were stuck. They were in a cycle of warped and twisted version of carpe diem. They were trapped in a whole different world where nothing mattered but instant gratification and whimsical enchantment. Calling them 'halls' doesn't speak volumes to the grandiose scale of it. It was practically the size of a town, employed by Distractia's devil-may-care goonies. Jesters who wore faceless masks that delighted on draining the souls of those who entered the halls through tempting them for 'one more minute', whether it be the drugged food, the gambling, or the sedentary leisure of watching magical picture-boxes that played movies endlessly. It was not a place Teros wanted to venture, being prone to some of these distractions. However, if the ravens feel that Distractia now became the biggest threat to the people, that is where the RPG Fanatics must go. Teros called out to the group, "We must prepare!" ---Mini-Challenge #1--- Suit up - The first mini-challenge is to join the ranks and check on others. Like in any good story, the hero needs to be prepared and have allies. The challenge is to get your thread posted, to post the link here, and to check on everyone's goals. It looked to be Pedibus heading out and towards the inn. Hopefully they were ok. The Forest of Doubts is not a place to ever go near. When talking to the ravens, Teros thought he heard someone mention 'fair maidens' behind him but was lost in thought at the time. Ravnos was nearby, probably trying to catch ear of what the ravens were telling him. "Excellent...so what is our next task in defeating these demon-lords?" Teros stood on a large nearby rock so his voice would project: "Listen, friends, comrades, and newcomers to this fight. I am not a particularly brave satyr, but I know what's right and wrong. The ravens have spoke to me and told me that the biggest threat with the FrostKing's demise is the disturbed Distractia. His halls are home to many a lost soul. His trickery of tainted food, wine, women, and song are that of the vilest sirens. Many enter the chambers that Distractia calls home, but very few ever leave. I have heard of prototypes of magic picture boxes using the arcane arts to create dazzling displays. There will be many innocents there, ensnared by a slew of temptations. We can't charge through to get to him. This foe is not brawn like Sodamus or the FrostKing. He is brains. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous going there. I've heard tales of this place prior to starting our Sodamus quest. If he is stronger now, then I fear this will be serious test of wills." Introductions were being made and some newcomers wanted to join the RPG Fanatics on their quest. As long as they knew this wouldn't be an easy quest and were trustworthy- then all were welcome. Teros collected his belongings. He would have to make a run to the tavern to get some meat to dry into jerky for the road. The group head out; the ravens scouting ahead and then circling back to the group. Distractia's halls were right near the edge of the Forest of Doubts; next to the Scout's Plains. It would be quick work; especially compared to the hike to the FrostKing in the frozen north the RPG Fanatics made weeks prior. Teros saw familiar faces and some new ones. As long as they were by his side, he would fight. Sulak walked up to Teros. "What are we-e-e-e-e-e waiting for.   8. T2sarahconnor is preparing herself for Judgement Day. She has learned many things at NF that will be helpful when the attack from Skynet comes. She has seen a glimpse of the future and needs to prepare herself, mind and body, to be strong and resilient in order to deal with what comes at her. Obstacles have been thrown into her path and she takes on the challenge with success but her over all training has suffered with no consistency in weight loss. T2sarah has thought about the fight she has over the next six weeks and realizes planning is the key to her success. She is writing these goals as actionable steps and will measure herself to these goals daily and recap weekly. Her friends here at NF will hold her accountable to her goals as she does not want to let them down. Main Quest-- Lose weight and gain strength. Goals Nutrition----+2 CON and +1WIS 90% Paleo. No gluten at all this challenge with the exception of one cheat item a week. The only non Paleo allowed is rice and potatoes, butter and hard cheeses. These will be in small amounts. I will keep the carbs in check by logging on MFP daily. Carbs should be under 100g daily. Will adjust this goal if needed after collecting data from MFP. I have also gotten off track drinking enough water. My diet soda intake is still only 1 can a week if that. I drink 1 large cup of coffee in the morning but no artificial sugar anymore. I have made great strides in this area but in my original challenge I drank 3 liters a day and could really tell a difference. Scoring---3 pts a day for 90% Paleo, 1 pt for 3 liters of water a day, and 1 pt for tracking on MFP daily. 5pts/day. 35pts/week. 210pts/challenge 210-189=A. 188-168=B. 167-147=C Bonus points for any 100% Paleo day, bonus points for keeping total carbs under 50g, minus a point for any cheat item over 1/week. Exercise----BBWW on MWF +2 STR 20 minutes cardio on T and TH +2STA Walk for 2.0 miles 3 x weekly +1STA Extra stretching 10 min daily +1DEX 15pts/week. 90pts/challenge 90-81=A. 80-72=B. 71-63=C Bonus points for functional fitness and doing challenges on my Striiv pedometer. Body/Mind +2 CHA +1DEX Failed at my take 10 min meditation last challenge. I do take a few minutes before bed to relax and do nothing and it works for me. This challenge I want to try yoga again. Goal is yoga 2x week. When I do it you think of nothing but how your body feels and breathing. Also I am reading some Eastern Philosophy books that I picked up. To combat the " underpants gnomes" (http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2012/04/05/underpants-gnomes/) which I am so guilty of, I will try 2 new things each week and share. Life Goal. +1 WIS +1 CHA For those of you following my hum drum life you know that the basement had been finished and furniture has been delivered from my newly emptied storage space. All but a few boxes have been gone through and I purged a ton of stuff at the garage sale and what didn't sell got donated. I am still working on getting the furniture cleaned up and everything put into its place. Goal is to live a clutter free life. Will probably be working on this one my whole life but I am making such strides I will continue forging ahead on this quest. My tactic has been simple. Complete one task daily towards this goal. This is of course above and beyond normal housework. I also want to make sure I stay active and start to mentor new rebels on NF. I will continue with the RPG fanatics group. I will do one other PVP challenge ( not sure which one yet) and follow at least 5 newbies that are good candidates for adventurers. 14pts/week. 84pts/challenge 84-76=A. 75--67=B. 66-59=C Bonus points for recruiting to adventurer guild, extra challenges, groups or events. Also for extra large projects for the clutter free goal. Long post but well worth it to me. Clear goals and points, all working towards ultimate goal. My motivation is to live a happier life. Love, health, family and friends. What more can you ask for. Just want to take it to the next level because I deserve it.
  9. Allright folks! Challenge #3 start tomorrow and that'll be awesome . I was reading other challenge around here to find what I could do for this one. My main quest hasn't changed, I still want to be around 10-12% bodyfat someday. There's a long way to go but I've done a long way in the last 3 months too! So, same quest this challenge, lose at least 1% body fat. The difference though, I want to be more consistent. The first 2 months were really good and awesome. But since it's now an habit, it's less interesting and such... I'll need to focus on the good things! GOALS - Workout everyday (+4 STR and +4 STA) (Miss 1 day = B, 2 days = C, 3 days = D, 4 days = F like FAIL) - Refocus on Paleo and have only ONE cheat meal per week (+4 WIS) (Have 1 extra cheat meal = B, 2 = C, 3 = D, 4 = FAIL) Not really related to fitness: - Don't play video games 2 days in a row (+3 WIS) (THIS ONE WILL BE HARD) (Play 2 days in a row one = B, twice = C, etc) SIDE QUESTS - Move to my new home - Go outside more - Be a better lead at work I'm a Lead Level Design (for Ubisoft), that's my day to day job. I'm pretty "new" at it and it's not easy! I really want to be the best lead ever and make my people grow! Also, summer is coming, I'm SO looking forward to it. I'll be able to use my bike again and do 1h of footbag per fay soon, that'll be so great Ha, peaceful days incoming.

She is working on her overall fitness and weight loss so she can learn more specialized training for her fight with Skynet. Sarah has learned much from her rebel friends at NF and needs to incorporate their ideas in her routine. She has seen results from her training in the last two challenges and will turn up the intensity for this one. Sarah is concentrating on STR and STA to get her out of the 80's. Main Quest: lose weight and build muscle. Goal to lose 8 lbs this challenge. Nutrition Goal: + 2 CON 100% Paleo for breakfast and lunch, 100% Paleo for dinner 3 times a week (M, W, F), keeping the 80/20 days gluten and sugar free and under 100 g of carbs. I am allowed one cheat item a week. (I have 2 graduations, a baby shower and Easter dinner this challenge) 3pts/ day, 21pts/week, 126pts/challenge. Minus 1 pt each for any cheat above one/week allowed. Plus 1pt for 100% Paleo days above 3/week. 126-113= A. 112-101=B. 100-88=C Exercise: +3 STR for BBWW 3x per week. M, W, F +3 STA for Cardio 3x per week. T, R, Sa. 15-20 minutes video or class. +1 STA for Walking 3x per week minimum 30 minutes. Track distance and time to improve. Purposely weighed these heavy. Need to step up the workouts to get to the next level. Will evaluate this goal weekly and challenge myself to earn extra points. 9pts/week 54pts/challenge. Bonus points earned for pedometer challenges, extra workouts, and push up work. ( I want to get to 15 regular push-ups in a row this challenge) 54-49=A. 48-43=B. 42-38=C Body/Mind: +1WIS and +1 CON Yoga/Stretching/ Meditation 10 minutes a day. Body Lotion either after shower or before bed. Hands before bed. Face routine in morning and night. With losing weight and not a spring chicken anymore I need to take care of my skin to look good. No saggy! I also need to calm my mind and think about nothing for a few minutes a day. I have trouble shutting down my brain. I can do it at night before bed but want to also do as a reset in the morning or afternoon to help with focus and clarity. 5pts/day. 35pts/week. 210pts/ challenge. Bonus points for spa day and extra stretching for mobility. 210-190=A. 189-168= B. 167-147=C. Life Goal: +2 WIS Lead an uncluttered life. I am going forward with doing one thing each day (above general housekeeping ) towards goal of getting basement done, storage space emptied and prepping for June garage sale. 7pts/week. 42pts/challenge 42-38=A. 37-34=B. 33-30 C. Bonus points for 30 minute sessions of organization. 2points are being reserved for RPG Fanatics challenges. Can't wait to see what is coming! I am challenging myself to write and develop my character at least once per week. Motivation: I am tired of knowing what to do and not doing it! I will not be an "Underpants Gnome" Bonus points for reading about something and doing it with in 24 hours. For example reading a new recipe and making, new exercise or stretching video, or finding a class and going. Will start song of the day tomorrow! 80's pop theme.
  12. The theme here is to be a consistency monster. I've realized that Consistency>Intensity so my goals this time is to create a cycle that I don't want to break. 1) Whole 30+ Always one of my goals because of how much it helps me. Eating right consistently means I'll lose weight. I didn't lose 45 pounds by cheating myself. I need to stay consistent with it; no matter how boring it might get. How I felt on the whole 30 was way better than if I wasn't and I need to remember that. +4 Con 2) Walking If I'm going to do a Spartan Race, I need to be able to handle walking long distances. I'm starting off with walking 2.2 miles a day. Once that feels easy for me, I want to steadily increase it. Again- consistency>intensity. No need trying to hike 10 miles and burn myself out. +3 Dex 3) PLP - Pushup + Lunges + Pullup Program. I can't do pullups yet, but that's why I'm going to do heavy rows until I can do inclined rows with my bar + cement blocks. I'll try 10 of each when the challenge starts and do that a couple days and then continue with increasing the reps. Sledgehammer workouts when I feel like I have extra energy worked out great last time, so don't worry- I'll be hammering away yet again (Sub-goal here: do 500+ Pushups over the course of the challenge) +4 Strength 4) Staying Positive. I haven't ironed out the details of this yet, but there is a lot of heavy stuff I'm dealing with right now and I need some mental clarity. If I'm depressed and stressed out- I won't be able to handle the other things. So this has to be a priority. Maybe a positive affirmation a day or something? Not 100% sure, but I'm thinking something along those lines. +4 (Determined Later)

About me: This is my 6th challenge now. I've been around since May and in that time I've realized that this is the greatest community EVER. If you're new here, know this: You get out what you put in. If you give 110%, you will find people that also give 110% and that's amazing. I'm 28 and working at a supermarket while I try to get my master's degree in social work. I already have my bachelor's in psychology. I've gone down 4 pants sizes so far and I'm planning on doing a Spartan Race in june. I'm an avid gamer since I was born. I remember playing Rampage and Excitebike on the original NES, mortal kombat on sega, super mario rpg on super nes, waverace and zelda on n64, and plenty of the new games on xbox, xbox 360, wii, and ps3. One of my favorite games is Diablo II. I love RPGs and the idea of having yourself be a character that levels up really resonated with me. I welcome you all.   14. Hello there! I'm TerosX and this is the third time I'm remaking the RPG Fanatics Guild. Each time it gets more awesome with better and better people. A quick note about myself: I'm in my mid 20's and trying to get a Masters in social work. I want to be a therapist and already have my bach. in psychology. I've done 4 of these challenges so far and show no signs of slowing. At my heaviest, I was 360 pounds but I've dropped about 3.5 pants sizes. I have a home gym consisting of a 10-pound sledgehammer, 20-pound sledgehammer, 250-pound tractor tire, 4 sand jugs, and 2 smaller tires.
