  1. It can get pretty lonely and boring for the Princess of Neptune. While peaceable times are wonderful, there isn't much to do while out at her planet, making sure no threats are coming to threaten the Silver Millennium. Michiru decided it was time to get herself back in tip top fighting shape, with a little help from her friends, the rest of the Sailor Senshi. The pretty soldiers in sailor suits spent a lovely day together, over the course of which they brainstormed goals with Michiru, and promised to help keep her on track. Each senshi would assist with one objective. SAILOR MOON! Usagi-chan loves her junk food. LOVES IT! Sometimes her sailor suit gets a bit tight though, so over the years she's learned to dial it back and eat in a more balanced manner. Goal: Log all food on MFP, do not go below 1200 or above 1700 SAILOR MERCURY! Ami-chan is so smart and studious. She is rarely seen without her nose in a book. She will be encouraging Michiru-san to read more. Goal: Read books five hours per week, divided between the days however works SAILOR MARS! Rei-chan is a Shinto priestess and serves at her grandfather's temple. She will be helping Michiru-san to get back in touch with her spiritual side. Goal:Do something spiritual once per week. Can include reading from a book, meditating, or performing a small ritual (New Moon 9/1, Full Moon 9/16 SAILOR JUPITER! Mako-chan is such an amazing cook! She's going to reach Michiur-san a few tricks this month so she can broaden her kitchen repertoire. Goal: Try three new recipes over the course of the challenge and/or three new foods. SAILOR VENUS! Minako-chan is a social butterfly. She loves singing, games, and so much more. She's going to encourage Michiru-san to have some fun! Goal: Do something social once a week. Can include: WoW (if grouped), D&D, board game night, Friday Night Magic, group hikes, karaoke nights, etc. SAILOR URANUS! Haruka is so active and athletic. She will help Michiru to stay active! Goal: Do something active every day. Can include: 10k steps, 30 mins walk/hike, 30 mins bike, 30 mins gym SAILOR PLUTO! Setsuna is the Guardian of Time. It just makes sense that she'll help Michiru stay on task with schedules/calendars/all that fun stuff that can get lost in the shuffle of day to day life. Goal: Stay on top of things like mail/bills/scheduling workouts. SAILOR SATURN! Hotaru-chan has dealt with many health problems and has learned the value of self-care. She's going to assist Michiru-san in remembering that she cannot take care of others or be a good Guardian Senshi if she isn't taking care of herself. Goal: Take better care of myself. Shower more often, brush teeth twice a day, use lotion, etc. I'm working on a "points" system to earn money to spend at a concert I'm going to on 9/16, since that's almost the end of the challenge. I haven't finished this points system yet, and it's stressing me out to try, LOL! I think instead, if I get 75% success rate across all goals, I'll allow myself to buy some nice souvenirs. Ready, set.... GO! RESULTS! List of goals: Moon: Log all food on MFP, do not go below 1200 or above 1700 Mercury: Read books five hours per week, divided between the days however works Mars: Do something spiritual once per week. 2. The Sailor Senshi are coming to CNF 2015! That's right, we intend to descend en masse upon camp and spread love and joy (and possibly glitter) everywhere! But before we don our iconic uniforms, we're going to spend the next few months working on being sailor fit and sailor awesome! How, you ask? By sharing our successes and failures, participating in a mini or two, and probably having gif parties. Because what would a Nerd Fitness challenge be without gif parties? This is a closed group for those of us going to camp who are planning on Sailor Senshi costumes. If you're interested in an unclaimed slot, please contact me! Roster: MOON: chloehawker CHIBI-MOON: UNCLAIMED MERCURY: imadork MARS: shaarawy JUPITER: crocargyle VENUS: Amdhiel PLUTO: TC URANUS: stillskies NEPTUNE: starsapart SATURN: Datchiana

    Transformation Sequence

This story is all about my amazing transformation into a magical thirty-year-old. I have a talking cat, or at least, I have a cat who makes a lot of noise. I'm pretending that he has presented me with a magical compact which, when I say a ridiculous phrase, transforms me from ordinary substitute teacher Tanglebot into Pretty Soldier Tanglebot, defender of love and justice and wearer of...bodysuits? Yeah, that's where it gets problematic. I'll be 30 in August, and I've spent most of the last seven years letting my body and heart (crystal) go to ruin. I'm a little overweight, I'm clumsy, running a 12-minute mile wipes me out. BUT. I have been working out and paying attention to my eating habits since May, so some things have improved. Well, my cat said to me today that the secret training period is over. It's time, he said, that I stepped out into the world ready to right wrongs and triumph over evil. And then he handed me my costume. "Um," I said, looking at the tag, "this is a size six." "It is!" he crowed. "I can fit half of one leg into this," I said. "That's right!" he grinned. "Get to work!" MAIN QUEST: I have to wear WHAT? Lose 22lbs/fit into size 6 jeans. I am 5'10" and weighed in this morning at 172lbs. I know that when I hit 160lbs I start fitting into size 6 or 8 jeans, depending on where I buy them. However, my dietitian from long ago set 150lbs as my "healthy weight." So that's what I'm aiming for: 150lbs/size 6 jeans. GOAL #1: Running in go-go boots. I'm running my first 10K race in October, having just run my first 5K a week ago, so I have a training schedule to stick to. I'm a little behind due to some unfortunate health issues in the past week, but hopefully I'll be back on track soon. The goal is: three runs per week, escalating mileage on the weekly long run to reach 4.5 miles by week 6. GOAL #2: Jupiter was always the strong one. I've been working through The New Rules of Lifting for Women. I was supposed to finish phase 1 last week, but it didn't work out due to the aforementioned health problems. So I'm going to start phase 2 this week. My goal is to do strength training three times per week. GOAL #3: The four food groups: ice cream, cake, cookies and candy! My inner Usagi is wild-eyed with fear of this goal, or maybe she's already wailing with grief. In the last two months, I have significantly reduced my intake of desserts and sugary drinks, but I still find myself running to them and binging whenever I feel stressed. It's time to break that habit. So I'm taking drastic measures and cutting out all desserts and sugary drinks. Six weeks without a cupcake. Or a soda. I've done it before, so I know I can succeed here. Still. Waaaaaa... SIDE QUEST: Putting the "Bishoujo" in Bishoujo Senshi. Living a magical lifestyle means doing more than just getting by from day to day. It also means appreciating the beauty in the world around you and doing your part to bring beauty into the lives of others. I used to do that by playing the viola. I want to do that again. I have a viola in good working order. I have music. I have a room in which to practice. I need to bring those elements together. So the goal of this side quest is to practice viola for at least 15 minutes a day, five days a week. MOTIVATION: Neo-Queen Ambitions Basically, I don't want to spend my thirties like I spent the back half of my twenties: out-of-shape and out-of-touch with myself. My magical girl days are long gone, but Sailor Moon has a magical future in Crystal Tokyo, doesn't she?
  4. Hello! I'm new here and trying out my first six week challenge! I'm a nerd of many flavors and a cosplayer. Since I have come out of my winter hibernation, I'd really love to work more on getting back in shape, and generally being more active. I don't really know what my starting point is as far as my weight, but I'm less focused on that and more focused on gaining endurance, flexibility, and strength (though there is a pair of pants that I would like to be able to wear again, ngl). I'd also like to improve my overall well being by paying more attention to what I put in my body as well as honing what it can do. I'd love to go back to ballet sometime in the not too distant future. I had hit a point where the only way for me to improve was to get more flexible, so I'm going to start to address that in this challenge. Short term goal: Succeed at this 6 week challenge Mid range goal: Get in shape for Otakon and finish my first dream cosplay Long term goal: Become a non-nocturnal professional costume designer and performing ballerina again I kind of span several classes, but for this challenge I'm going with Druid Goals Fitness Goal #1: Get in shape! Fitness Goal #2: Flexibility and strength! Diet Goal: Eat better! Level Up Your Life: Flex those creative muscles! The Game Plan Fitness 1: I've never been a runner, but I'd like to start and stick to C25K (3x30 minutes per week) either at my gym (treadmill) or around my neighborhood, depending on the weather and my work schedule. My gym is near my place of employ in Manhattan and an hour away from my home, so I'd likely only work out there if I was already going downtown for work [+5 STA] Fitness 2: I love yoga, but sometimes finding the time for a full session can be hard. I plan on doing sun salutations every weekday morning. I have a terrible internal sleep schedule and insomnia, so pushing myself out of bed will be a positive life change as well as a fitness goal. I'm sure I could use more sunlight as well as the peace and balance I get from the practice [+2 STR] [+2 DEX] Diet: My nutrition is terrible. The only time I've really tried watching what I ate was to get ready for Katsucon, and eating healthier definitely made me feel much better! I'm still a noob at diets, so I'm going to start off small - I won't eat anything fried, and I'll include fruits/veggies with every meal (including replacing my normal snacks with fruit/veggies) [+3 CON] Life: I'm an artist and a cosplayer. If I go too long without creative endeavors I start to shrivel up and die a little inside. I have a few creative projects to work on in these six weeks including a dream cosplay I have planned for Otakon and a commission for a friend. My goal is to spend at least 3 hours working on something creative every week. Ideally I will work on something creative for at least 15 mins to half an hour every day, and finish something substantial every week. My plan is to post what I've accomplished every day, even if it's just making a few feathers. [+3 CHA] My Personal Wins These are things that will not win me points, but that I want to work on anyway. 1. When it's nice out, I try to walk farther to the subway to get to or from work. Instead of walking a few blocks and going underground, I'll make myself walk to the next stop instead. It's a little thing, but it does make a difference. I don't have it as an official goal in case we get a week of storms, or I'm running late. 2. I'm performing as part of Senshi Generation II, "Twinkle Twinkle, Sailor Stars" (Lilith Oya's project mashing up Girl's Generation and Sailor Moon in live performances and music videos) at the upcoming Senshi Matsuri in NYC, and later in the We only have 2 more rehearsals until the con at the end of the month, and since I came in late to replace someone who had to drop out, I'm playing a bit of catch up. I've got a good handle on it and can do full run throughs with the group, but I really should be rehearsing more on my own. So I'm going to try to do it at least 5 times a week, even if it's just one run through. 3. I love collaborating on creative projects. I have an ongoing goal of networking more with other cosplayers and photographers. There's so much to learn (and share!) from the experiences of others, and I've made many wonderful friends in this community. Working on expanding my audience to bring in more commissions would be great too since I eventually want to make a career in costuming (either my own business or for theater/ movies) and experience is key.
  5. Hi guys! So, I'm planning on making this into a longer thing eventually, but lets start with a 6 week challenge! This is a place for senshi to support each other in our endeavors to get in shape, achieve our goals, and generally improve our well being! Post here about your successes, or if you are needing some support, or for someone to give you a sailor kick to the butt! Politely. I'll also be posting mini challenges here (things you are doing for your six week challenge count towards these too) to kind of test out where I'm eventually going with this, so check back later and get ready! In the name of the Moon! <3 Neptune
