  1. Overall goal: bring love into everything I do. To open myself up to all of the divine love, to receive all my gifts that I’m meant to share with the world. (soundtrack) The first go-around: Edit Update Wednesday, Sept. 25th: Having to narrow things down... Just been sunk and haven't done anything. Need a smaller goal thingy for now. Also, something I never noted. I uninstalled FB from my phone, still using the site on my laptop to keep up with events and people I love. But have cut down my 20+ times of scrolling a day to a handful every other day. Update goals: (Sept 25th) Goals here: -Weekly check-in on Spiritual Goals (at minimum) -Meet with Healer weekly - Go to Oneness Blessing on Wednesday at 5:30 pm -Go to Bakahti Yoga/Chanting Meditation Club on Fridays – 6:00- 7:30 pm -Go to Service on October 13th -Update daily what my goals are (use as Bujo- I always enjoy reading other people's to-do list) -Update on Reconnect with life and food again
  2. I didn't do so well last challenge. I had such a good routine prior to the Christmas time off. Between the leg cramps and the time away from the routine I've fallen short. Must restore the rhythm. 1. Spritual Meditate, study and internalize the words and teachings of Jesus. 2. Time management No lazy boy before 7 (minimize TV and internet time) On my death bed, I will not say, I wish I'd watched more TV. Work in building 3 times a week 3. Diet No solid food except dinner after 4. Lot's of liquids. The physical aspects are on hold. That said, I plan to exercise enough to stretch, try to skate once a week and bike as soon as the weather allows. We've had 12 inches dumped on us this weekend, so it won't be for a while. Once I restore the rhythm, the exercise will fall into place. I'm 5' 9" and 194 lbs.
  3. A fresh new battle log to start off a new year (and finally have a new keyboard!) I've fully accepted now my ability to organize needs to level up. Going to allow myself some freedom and letting go of past posts, and going to keep my posts here. I will joining the challenge threads, but I know now true fully I need to keep my own structure of challenge days for making it easier to follow through. Along with keeping the battle log on my signature and being active in the forums again, so I do get to chat with new people. Since there is a reason why I keep coming back here after all. I love the people here... And am surprised by how people in the real world don't always have the "happier life goals". So following in the idea that what I've been calling my heart, is really my inner goddess trying to make my dreams a reality. Speaking of goals, I realized after having some thinking time of "what is my 'personal philosophy?'" A lot of it came back to finding my joys and following my hearts (especially when I realized there is still quite a bit in my life that doesn't give me joy, but unhealthy habits to give me comfort during my less joyful times). So hoping to take steps toward a life that I can barely dream of. Taking steps in my career toward my fears, and let's spread that to other areas of my life. School Goals - For the next 14 weeks (daily/weekly tracking, and adjusting on where I'm needed): Extra time out of class - Starting this week, I'm starting the goal of working on school stuff for a goal of 25 hours each week outside of class! All my classes have large projects, and 2 out of 3 are starting off with large amounts of reading for the projects. Most of these projects are group based, which means I need to keep my end of the work. This is an intro to my career choice I'm finding, so time to face my fears that I have all over the place. (Reward: 25 cents per an hour finished) Following Through- On top of the work, last year I had a class where I nearly failed because I wasn't turning anything in... (I have an all or nothing mentality where a portion of the time I just give up). So working on rewiring my brain and showing the end results, hoping this will ripple effect into the rest of my life. (Reward: $300 on anything I desire, Penalty: Will donate to an organization that I'm not a fan toward their mission... Am open to ideas for this one.) Health/Spirituality Goal - 1 week at a time here... (Am trying to figure out what is going to work out in my life): Daily Tarot - Spiritual side, doing a tarot has me sitting down and getting out of my head a bit every night before bed. Has been helping with mindfulness techniques, and times for being thankful (3 months 90% Successful - Reward: A tarot deck or something similar for spiritual side). Collecting Underpants- So with school, a new job, and -25 degrees F windchill coming out every few days I'm trying to figure out how to add exercise that I enjoy back into my routine. Walking somewhere was my go to, but with the weather some days I need an alternative. Life Goals: Urge surfing- From buying stuff and eating stuff that makes me feel good. I've found both for my waist size and my wallet, stepping back and allowing "extras" stuff to be a short term reward. Allowing myself to buy a higher quality item once, instead of crappy stuff every day. Will be taking daily note on any encounters, and/or goals for the longer rewards. Self-Love - Kind of collecting underpants here, but realized with trying to find a social life I had many changes but could barely handle my negative thinking afterwards. Over winter break I realized how nasty I'm to myself sometimes (and wouldn't allow anyone else to do to me). Along with how many times I go to escapes for "taking care of myself." If I can barely handle being in my own skin some-days.Starting off by daily sharing a week's worth of daily assignments from Uncustomary.org (a blog I just found and haven't tried too much out because of not accountability). Cutting the Nonsense out: I'm someone that walks away from negative people in my life, so why do I go on facebook? Yeah need to cut it out, especially since I get notifications about groups on my phone for updates on events and stuff (and really do I want to be part of a group of people that can't take the time to email it out, then just facebook). Cutting out Netflix... So many hours. Now and then I tend to fall in a binge, but like sugary treats its not something I want to depend on getting through hard times. Art Maker: A four week course of finding an artistic outlet that I'm trying to figure out. Will be doing writing or actual art projects depending on how I feel or have time for. Creatively I've been feeling kind of stuck, since I realized during NaNoWriMo I can barely wrap my head around writing healthy relationships. Something is off. Will share what I come up with. NF goals: Daily Posts- Really the only way I've found joy in my life is daily posting stuff, next to be a tad bit more accountability. Friends: Posting on someone else's thread daily, would lead me to following at least a few people. Oofda... Just having a lot in my head. There was a point where I couldn't think of any. And then realized all my goals. Color coated while I did it too. Thank god for days off else I wouldn't have been able to do this today.
  4. Hello Rebels! @Starpuck, @Genevieve Fox, @IAmInfinite, and I are starting a project to read through the Bible book of Psalms, 7 chapters per week, and report to each other once a week on our favorite verses and what we learned. Anyone from any guild is welcome to join - in fact, we'd love to have you!! This week we're reading Psalm 1-7, and on a yet-to-be-chosen day next week (possibly Monday?), we will all check in here and write a little about what we have learned or been blessed by in our readings this week. Welcome to all who join us on our journey!!
  5. Last challenge started really well! Then I got stuck. Like a deer in the headlights. Except I'm not a deer. I'm a DRAGON. I'm FIERCE and CAPABLE and - NOOOO STOP THAT !!!!!!!!!!! I got totally derailed by the end. I had some extra external stressors, and I let them get to me. It affected my sleep, which then affected my ability to Do The Things - too tired to go to the gym, too tired to resist buying coffee and sweets at school, etc. Sooo... I can't think of anything to change, so I'm gonna just try the same stuff again. But I'm gonna... somehow bring myself back to my original intent, with regularity. So I can keep with my goals, and not fall off the wagon as much. Hopefully????? And also get more sleep!! 1. Work out 3x per week 2. Eat healthy 5x per week 3. DO NOT BUY FOOD AT SCHOOL 4. Read the Bible 3x per week 5. 9:30 bedtime
  6. I have been playing a lot of Overwatch lately and can't stop thinking/dreaming about it. SO... Let's make it my themed challenge this month! D.Va - Gaming 100% Uncharted 4 and Collect the 5 dragons in DragonVale Genji - Agility Practice yoga on off days and stretch until splits (front ways, both legs) are obtained Symmetra - Knowledge Read 30 mins a day and finish two books this challenge Zarya - Strength Green Arrow workout MWSa and Handstand progression everyday Lucio - Music Learn all the words to a tough song. Mercy - Spirit Read at least one chapter of the Bible a week and continue to go to church every Sunday Winston - Health Have one side of fruit or veggies with lunch and dinner Well that's it! I may have bitten off way more than I can chew.... but oh well. Live and Learn. Here's to my second EVER 4-Week Challenge.
  7. After planning comes... Action! Trigger warning: I post pictures of food and tempting stuff. @Naxius So yeah, I am going to start swimming this month and hopefully keep at it all summer. Since my knee is not showing any sign of getting better, I had to find and alternative to running and high impact sport, so obviously, like every recovering athlete in the making, I went for swimming. In addition, I have decided to start trying something new. NerdFitness might be a fitness-based website, but I don't think I am the only one that has found the community amazingly supporting in all areas for life. It is truly amazing to get to see the "behind-the-scenes" of people's progress, when normally you only get to hear the success stories. It really makes you realise that in the end, everyone is just doing their best to try and balance busy lives while staying healthy. Anyhow, I don't just want to level-up my fitness level, but level up all areas of my life - Emotional, Physical, Spiritual and Mental. Now as all Nerds know, it is not a good idea to try and do too many things at once, so every month I will focus mostly on one aspect, with one week . The last challenge was mostly a mental one - I focused mostly on self-discipline, study and overall setting the ground for what is coming now, which is the physical practice. Aside from the holistic approach, there is also a bit of non-formal learning theory applied here that I might get into a further post. So, what does this challenge concretely look like? Well - here it goes: Health - Physical 1) Get your cardio Go swimming 2x a week The number is dictated by my budget, unfortunately, as I have quite a few things to pay for this month. I am going back home for the holidays though so I will be able to go more often then. 2) Nourish your body I have started to suspect that one of the reasons my knee is not healing is that the time of injury (whatever it may be) also coincides with the time I decided to try and go on a diet because I had started spotting my abs. This period was, however, also combined with what I suspect is a real underestimation of my current physical activity, which lead to a cycle of binges as well as one week in between where I was constantly eating - but eating junk. Which in turn was followed by a week where I barely ate anything because I felt so sick... sooo... yeah... Because of this, I figured I should try eating instead. Eat between 1600 and 1800 calories Get at least 103g of protein 5x a week 3) Fight mindless snacking This has been a problem lately... it has always been, really, in my life. I had managed to curb it at the beginning of the year thanks to, um, having barely enough budget to eat, but it has come back with a vengeance lately. So, yeah, that needs to stop. No mindless snacking: if I want to snack, I need to take prepare the snack, like our moms and grandmothers did for us when we were children. So, let's say I feel like a slice of bread with nutella on it. This is what I would have to do: take out the bio-nutella equivalent and the orange juice and put it on the table together with cutlery, plates and glasses. Take out the bread, toast the bread, put it on a plate. Sit down, serve myself, then put everything back. I am pretty sure that should be too much effort 9/10. Once a week, fast till the 9th hour This is a fasting method I have found where you don't eat anything until 9 hours after you wake up, then break the fast with a light meal, and have a hearty meal later on for dinner. This is to teach myself to be patient with food - part of the snacking issue comes from just not being able to wait until the next meal. This should train it. This is also why I have a calorie range - I should be eating around 1650 calories a day form what I gathered, so going over on certain days will ensure I make up for the deficit I will certainly have on fasting days. So those are my health goals for the physical aspect of my life. Social - Emotional Blogging practice I really want a blog one day. Check in daily into NF Post a daily animation on my Tumblr (here, for those interested, though it's mostly a collection of mind blurbs and some of those are in French) Art - Spiritual Draw I haven't drawn anything in weeks and it's starting to get closer to months Set aside at least 1h per week to draw. Post progress picture. Learn - Mental Finish the edX Nutrition Course Nutrition and Health Part 1: Macronutrients and Overnutrition It's excellent, approaches the whole question of nutrition from a biological and medical standpoint while being very honest about the limitations of research. It anybody has the time to audit it or wish to get a certificate, they will re-run it this month. I have been on and off it for months, no thanks to the "self-paced" format. I really, really want to wrap it up over the next couple weeks and move on to Part 2. Work on the assignments of the course at least 4 hrs every week. That is it. I think you can see how this works - there is a "main area" for development, and then small goals for all the rest. They rotate. Side Quest: Monkey Level 2. I have not forgotten, no. ^^
  8. Great Creator, I see my enemy, but they're cunning and fierce. I plan to attack on the dawn of the second sunrise. I know I cannot face them in battle alone, and you have provided the allies I need to succeed. It will all end with them or me, and if it's war to my dying day, so be it. These spirits of the Shadow do not oppress me alone, but every living creature in this land. It was you who saved me from the Shadow's deadly grasp. It was you who appointed me with the sight to see beyond this physical realm into where the spirits deal, your realm and the enemies'. You gifted me with great skills, talents and admirable qualities as the means to help rescue others from the Shadow and his followers. I ask for your strength and perseverance to under this quest and pursuit against the spirits of Gluttony and Sloth. Spirit Chaser a.k.a Sachiko, the Golden Hind (These battle entries will continue to be directed as personal letters to a higher power that Sachiko turns to for daily wisdom and guidance.) *The Great Creator appears to Sachiko as a mighty Golden Eagle of Guidance in the Sky.
  9. Hi all! I'm Natalee, a new assassin and I can't wait to get stuck in with this coming challenge! After my first challenge I kind of... let myself go a little bit, with this I realized just how important it will be for me to continue this until this new life of fitness becomes a part of myself and not just something that I want to attain. As I am writing this I feel as if I conceived last week, I hope that this isn't the case and that my body is just topsy turvy at that moment, and that I'm just over thinking this situation. At present my LO is 11 months and I believe that by the end of this challenge he will be walking all over the place. I have not been focusing on diet, and by the end of the challenge I hope to have incorporated a a more wholesome diet. At present I eat what I can, when I can, I want to control this a little more by the end. I'm really looking forward to all that will unfold over the course of this challenge. This will be a good one. Challenge Overview Quest One: My name is Stronger. In the pursuit of mastering myself strength is imperative. During this six week program I will be following a program created by myself which will be outlined once I've fine tuned it. I will be overhauling the routine every two weeks, just to switch things up a bit. Quest Two: I'll be Flexible The ability to be flexible both of mind and body. One of the first things my first challenge reminded me of is that there are many ways to get to a destination. Can I get my splits in 6 weeks?... I don't know. But I don't think that that is how I want to quantify my goals. Although I will use this to see my progression. It won't be my focus. My Flexibility plan will be outlined below also. Quest Three: Finding Balance Achieving a freestanding handstand is definitely something I want to do this time around. I also want to play around with planches, I'm going to figure out where I am, and we will see where I can go during the course of this challenge. Life Quest I want to become less of a backseat rider on this forum and engage a whole lot more with other Assassins and encourage other people in their challenges. This challenge I want to do 10 minutes of Bible reading everyday (at the very least), I'll meditate on whatever it is that I happen to read throughout the day, but I really want to get those 10 miniutes in.Take care of me - I neglect myself so much, during the course of this challenge I want to engage in a few little things that will help to relieve stress and also keep me looking good. Namely to give myself a foot scrub once weekly and get my hair done biweekly.
  10. I'm Natalee, I'm starting a new thread for my challenge, I read all the relevant threads after starting so I'm creating this with new format and clearer goals. I'm a uni student on pause haha. I'm 21 with an adorable 9 month old boy. I live at home with my mom and my sis, and my fiance, with other relatives close by. I don't do much to be honest other than household stuff and being a mom... Wait I've started a backyard garden, I envision having a yummy garden soon. It's a little haphazard right now. There are many things that I'm trying to do, but I feel as if I'm failing them all. This is an attempt for me to find some focus. Main Quest a. Tone Buns & Thighs. b. Current Body Stats: Height: 5'3" Weight: 143lbs Waist: 30in Arms: 12in Thighs: 23.5in Hips: 41in Neck: 13.5in With this new and clear format, I really hope to have a good time posting here. Look forward to meeting you all.
  11. If you pay any attention to my gif choices, you must have expected it. . . The Supernatural-themed challenge. I rewatch the episodes on Netflix all the time, and I always wonder how I would do as a hunter (in all probability, very poorly). But part of being a Rebel is learning to overcome fear and become antifragile, and there is nothing sturdier than the Winchesters. Of course, the best part of the show* is the music, so I chose four songs from the show (or tangentially mentioned - I guess Kripke couldn't get the rights to Led Zeppelin stuff) to represent my goals for this challenge. Ramble On – DEX 2, STA 3. One of dean’s favorite songs, and one of my goals. I love running, I love hiking and going for long walks. I just need to make sure these are a priority in my life. I’m not going to try for 10,0000 steps per day, but rather 50,000 per week. Running, walking, hiking, line dancing, whatever. Get moving. Ordinary biking will not count, but a dedicated bike trip that lasts long (say, at least an hour and a half?) will be included in “stepsâ€, converted with the LIVESTRONG method here: http://www.livestrong.com/article/187672-how-to-convert-exercise-bike-miles-to-steps/ . (This has been way too easy. So I am bumping the total up to 70,000/week, which is the recommended 10,000/day. I also need to run at least twice, because come on. Not sure about the numbers, but it will depend how far over my minimum I go, I guess.) Green Onions – CON 2. Moose gets big eating “shake it baby†salads and green smoothies! Loving my usual “eat greens every day†goal, but it’s too easy. So I will try to eat at least 3 servings of veggies per day, and track all foods using My Fitness Pal. Eye of the Tiger– STR 4. I would like to continue with both my BW practice and my dance practice, but scheduling time to do each 3+ times per week would leave me with no rest days. So this goal is an either/or instead of a both/and. I will “train†3 times per week – bodyweight and/or intense dancing. Intense dancing is defined as minimum 45 minutes, heart rate goes up, or difficult muscle work like floorwork, etc. Ideally, I want to do one pull up by the end of 2015, so bodyweight is going to help me with that a lot. (Edited end of week 2: to make sure I do more BW, I top out at 70% unless I do at least two BW.) (I swear this isn't the only reason I watch this show) Got My Wings – WIS 2, CHA 2. While the show itself is pretty agnostic in tone (which is quite a feat, considering the demons, angels, etc that people the whole thing), spiritual themes are central to the show, and none more so than redemption. If religious stuff bugs you, skip to the gif of Castiel speaking in iambic pentameter, just like an angel speaking English should. I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition. Mmmm, prosody. I am Jewish, and living in a place bereft of other Jews, except for my husband. As I live through my first ever Passover without a Jewish community, I realize how much I miss it. I can't make a Jewish community spring up in Shikoku, but I can reconnect to the observances of Judaism that I have let fall by the wayside due to absence. As i have made stretching and meditation into part of my bedtime ritual most nights, I find myself longing for more - more of the outside, physical observances that radiate inwards (lighting Shabbat candles, singing some of the evening service, covering my head when attending to my spiritual needs) and the inside, mental observances that radiate outwards, especially prayer and study. I am going to be realistic, which is a mitzvah in itself, since living life doesn't, and shouldn't. grind to a halt for the spiritual life (Judaism doesn't really have an ascetic tradition, we're more communal and in-the-world). I intend to continue my evening stretching and meditation, and add the Sh'ma and the V'ahavta, as well as keep up with the Parshah weekly – read section, read at least one commentary/midrash. (Also start the morning with the Modah Ani) Luckily, I already have my "Team Impala" playlist on my iPod! Challenges for this challenge: I have family visiting from the 24th to May 4th. However, this is my dad and his partner, so I will probably end up getting more exercise during their visit. We're planning on lots of walking, etc, plus a bike ride across the big bridge and maybe climbing the tallest mountain in Western Japan (if it is open for climbing). And i should try to remember Mothers' Day. And Coming off of Passover sometimes leads me to donut-and-pastry binge a bit, but I'm hopeful that having to track it in MFP will stay my hand at least part of the time. *Yes, even better than the very pretty (and only occasionally shirtless) men kicking demon ass.
  12. My main goal is to stay "sane" for the next two weeks between challenges. To acheive this goal, I'm going to: Take my medication daily. Not take on any extra projects. Feed my spirit daily. Attend my addiction recovery program on Thursdays. Attend church on Sundays. 15 minutes of grounding meditation every day.
  13. Hello Rangers! I'm returning to you to achieve one of my most desired goals: Main Quest: Do a push up! Work out: Do a push up work out three times a week. I'm using FitDaily Pushups as a starting place. STR +5 Track my progress: Once a week I want to weigh myself and take measurements. In addition I'm going to write down every work out I do. I'm going to weigh myself Tuesday mornings before breakfast, just to be consistent. WIS +4 No gadgets after 10:30: This is a repeat goal, but one that worked so well. I'm going to stop using my phone and computer after 10:30. CON +3 STA +2 Life Quest: Start a Spiritual Practice For this goal I'm going to start a spiritual practice, something small that I can do for five minutes everyday. To figure out what I'm going to read the book Imperfect Spiritualty and based on that book make a decision. WIS +1 Grading: A +90% B +80% C +70% Rewards: For every five successes in a row I'm going to give myself a small reward. I only need eight more small rewards to get a manicure!
