  1. I don't really have the energy for challenge goals this time around, so I'm thinking of just showing up, checking in here occasionally, and trying to cheer everyone else on. One thing I'll definitely be checking in for is Squatmas. If you're not familiar, here's an explanation much better than I could put together: Although Willy's no longer with us, I think that this is a great tradition that should live on. I encourage everyone to do some lifting at Christmas, take a video if you're able, and come here to talk about it. If you can't do it on the day, do another day nearby, and if 50/50 isn't a good fit for you, pick reps and weights that sound good. It's all about being together for a last big lift of the year.
  2. Okay... so I thought I was going to do a Crock Pot challenge. Still will, don't even need to research it (going to taste all the good food this month that was suggested on the previous challenge chat). I'm making them all, because wowza on the recommendations. I however started to do research today for the Red Moon side challenge... I ended up finding an article that went in detail in a way I haven't seen before, and found matching results as I looked up similar terms. Recommendation to do a Plant-based high fiber and low oil eating. Damn.... this research wasn't what I expected. I have never taken a serious trial to this way of eating. So I will be starting to make the blocks.... Like what will I eat? Trying to figure out the new grounds as I use up food I have and probably meal plan ect. We are an area of diet changes I have never tried before but hoping to mull somethings over before the new year.
  3. Hi, Rebellion. I hesitated to start this thread, because I didn't know Mr. Willes that well, but maybe because of that it's easier for me to do this than some of you who were much closer to him. In any case, it doesn't seem right to let Christmas go by without a Squatmas challenge. I'd like to see how many squats we can do this weekend in Willie's honor, and I've made a simple spreadsheet where we can all input our reps and see the grand total. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KGGV21PkziqcyMfQRQdvmZZ4_uKsZchqgbiOkHDis0Y/edit?usp=sharing There's a second tab for anyone who wants to do the Boxing Day deadlift challenge too. The "official" Squatmas challenge is 50 squats at 50% BW on Christmas Day. But as Mr. Wille's would say, the most important thing is to participate. If you are "in a crouching position with the knees bent and the buttocks near the heel" then you are channeling the spirit of Squatmas. And if you'd rather do them a day (or two) early or late, feel free. Adjust the weight and reps however you need to. I'm planning to do mine at 25%BW. Be smart. Be safe. And drop that booty down low.
  4. Let it SNOW, let it SNOW, let it SNOW~ Self care (moar sleep and water) Nutrition (don’t dive off the cliffs of F-it) Other stuff* (*take cats x2 to the vets for boosters x2, family gatherings, do the budget) Weights (lift twice a week until the gym closes for giftmas) depending on the AirBnB we are staying at on The Day, I may or may not also do squatmas. If not, I will try to fit it in in one of my December gym sessions.
  5. Cause at the moment that feels like the only thing i can do. Motivation to do anything more is just gone. So a couple of posts a week will be it. All that is accomplished next to that is extra.
  6. Hello, and a very warm welcome to this seasoned holiday tradition! As an ambassador of the Ranger Corps™ i welcome you to: SQUATMAS™ '18-Edition Last year we had a very merry crowd of people that during X-Mas and Boxing day did squats and deadlifts. Goal was to do 50/50. 50 reps with 50% bodyweight. Squats on X-Mas day and Deadlifts on Boxing day. And a side goal was to tape yourself doing it and posting it here, this is not a requirement but a nice to have. It's great knowing and seeing you have performed this with other Rebels. And as a bonus this year you will be noted as a squatmas legend if you participated last year! Unfortunately, last year, for me, being a host to both sides of the family on both days put a dent in that plan and i was only able to perform the squats. So this year is time for a rematch. People that joined up last year and performed the 50/50 might want to, up the ante, and can go for a 55/55 or a 60/60. I want to keep the same format, but doing either is just fine. X-Mas day: 50/50 Squats Boxing day: 50/50 Deadlifts Just remember: taking part is more important than winning. And with no further ado i want to present you last year legends (in alphabetical order, cause my mind will have a meltdown if i do "random" stuff): @Emerald Eagle SQ @Morag @Raxie @Terra SQ @WhiteGhost SQ / DL So i will be relying on them to participate this year and i hope to see many more rebels join in! Just reply here stating what you want to do, and reply again (preferably with a nice uploaded youtube or FB video) after you did it!
  7. I have mentioned a few times that i have been creating a tradition during the holidays at the end of the year. Last year i did a challenge on boxing day. The 50/50 squat challenge. Squat 50 reps with a barbell that weighs 50% of your bodyweight. This year i want to expand it a little and do the 50/50 squats on Xmas-day, and do a 50/50 deadlift challenge on Boxing day. For some this will be too much to handle, for some this would be pretty easy. For me it's pretty spot on (at least for the squats, for the deadlift i don't know yet). XMAS: 50 Squats 50% Bodyweight Boxing day: 50 Deadlifts 50% Bodyweight Last year i streamed it on FB. I will try do the same thing this year. On both days. So if anyone wants to join me feel free. You can adjust it any way you like, only got dumbbells use them for squatting and deadlifting, can only do 10% go for it. Just a few rules: I'm preferring reps over weight. I would rather see 50 airsquats than 40 reps with a loaded barbell. Try to pick something that's hard but doable. Leave a post here if you intent to join i'll add you to the list of people who have pledged to do this Try to make a video and upload it here after you're done. Safety comes first, don't injure yourself with this, it's all just for fun! The idea behind this is that these days usually are so incredibly passive. This (even though it is by no means a full workout) will make you at least do something and i am certain it will give you a great sense of accomplishment. I'll kick it off with my livestream of last years edition: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1440244066015561&id=100000899440167 (okay, now i that i've actually watched the livefeed it seems i just did a regular 3x10 on boxing day) Pledglings: @Mr_Willes @Morag @WhiteGhost @Raxie @Terra @Wild Wolf ... ... ...
