  1. Uru: Challenge #2 1. Complete 6 weeks of Tapout XT without missing a session STA-5, STR-2, CON-3 2. Add 10cm to my vertical jump STR-5 3. Create an Android mobile app and deploy it to my smartphone WIS-5 Fleshing out to follow, no time right now. Currently am on track though Fleshing out: Tapout Pretty straight forwards. Do the Tapout routine as written on their calendar. 6 days of around 1 hr work outs, rest on Sundays. I still intend to keep up my 3 days of martial arts whilst doing this. This is actually a fairly big challenge on my time which is why there are only 3 challenges this time instead of the recommended 4. Jump Increase I have never been able to jump. I want to get into parkour and the like and jumping seems to be an advantage there. It is also a mark of fitness. From what I have read online my current jump is pretty poor, I want to at least get to average for my age. Better than average would be greater. (online sources seem to vary greatly). I aim for 10cm jump increase, this is a vertical jump, no run up. The start height is 23.7cm. Android App: I have been looking at App creation for a while and really want to get into it. At first because I want to write and app which will tell me where my phone is if it should ever get stolen (yes I am sure there are already apps like that out there, but I want to make my own) and also because I might branch into game making for smart phones, I do like to game on them. The ability to work with mobile technology seems like a bonus these days. How To: Tapout - just do the workouts nightly. Probably between when I get home from martial arts and dinner. Jump Increase - This will be increased by doing 15 minutes of skip rope every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. (Note: unlikely I can do 15 minutes of consecutive skip rope, so it is cumulatively 15 minutes). Everyday I will roll up and down onto the balls of my feet for 2 full minutes (consecutive minutes). Do 5 practice jumps a day. Monday mornings will be the mark off to see if my jump has increased. I will check jump height weekly. Android App - week 1: Find out the coding language apps are generally written in and make sure my laptop has the necessary IDE’s etc week 2: Look for templates, work out design and the app’s function week 3: Start coding (back end) week 4: Continue coding (back end) week 5: Continue coding (front end/GUI) week 6: Deploy to device Marking Guide: Tapout: Full CON (3) if I complete 36 workouts CON (2) for > 30 workouts CON (1) for > 20 workouts STR (2) if in the final week I can do all moves without wimping out (ie: full pushups instead of half ones) STR (1) If not all moves are polished by end of week 6 STA (5) By being able to make it to the end of 36 workouts, no skipping moves STA (4) By being able to make it to the end of >30 workouts, no skipping moves STA (3) By being able to make it to the end of >20 workouts, no skipping moves STA (2) By being able to make it to the end of >15 workouts, no skipping moves STA (1) By being able to make it to the end of >10 workouts, no skipping moves Jump Increase STR (5) if I reach 10cm or more increase STR (4) if I reach 8cm or more increase STR (3) if I reach 6cm or more increase STR (2) if I reach 4cm or more increase STR (1) if I reach 2cm or more increase Android App WIS (5) By the end of week 6 there is a new, self made app on my smart phone WIS (4) I have made an app, but it is still on my computer/unable to figure out how to put it on phone WIS (3) Totally written, but not compiling WIS (2) Half written WIS (1) Have set up environment and started to write it -----------------RESULTS-------------------------- Results are in. Tapout - Full Marks CON +3, STR +2, STA +5 Jump - final jump increase 8.8cm. B-eautiful STR +4 Android App - Hello World app sitting on my computer WIS +4 Future Challenge will be to finish off Tapout (now 7 weeks in, 5 weeks to go)
