  1. This may be before some of your time, but when I was in high school there was a popular game franchise featuring the supervillain Carmen Sandiego She would run around the world stealing national treasures, anything from the Nile River Delta and the Casablanca to "All the Goulash" and "Every last drop of salsa". There were a number of spin offs, mostly focusing on specific geographies, but some focused on time (history) rather than geography. My challenge is going to be China Specific So for this challenge, I am going to try and steal a major tourist attraction from every Chinese Province, of which there are 33 (34 if you count Taiwan, which will be my bonus theft if I get all the others). In order to get the theft I have to do a certain amount of things each day. The challenge has 42 total days, which means I can miss 8 days and still get everything. In order to get my daily theft, I need to hit the following daily minimums Exercise: 5 pullups 20 pushups 10 leg raises Stretching: 5 minutes of some kind of static stretching Food: 0 sugary snacks 2 bottles of water Music 1 song practiced Housekeeping Vacuum the living room Disinfect Wraith's room In addition to the above, I will still do my regular exercising (which will now include running or some form of cardio) at the park, but that won't be a daily thing. I also need to figure out something about overall calories, but I haven't figured that part out yet. I will probably keep up with the story telling in some format, because NF doubles as my journal
  2. I was going to write this challenge tonight, but I had trouble even staying awake for the last half hour at work and I lack any brainpower at all for writing, thinking, and all the other skills that go into challenge-making. But I don't want to procrastinate, so behold, the placeholder. A real challenge will appear anon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For this short holiday challenge, I was feeling a bit at a loss. My schedule is full and subject to change, my son will be leaving part way through, which will bring some 😢, and though I have a few things I want to get done by the end of the year, it wasn't feeling very challengey. So I am stealing inspiration from the rest of you! Tasks to complete: For obvious reasons, knitted gifts need to be completed by the end of the year. Everything else is a want to complete. Knit coworker gifts (I am aiming for nine completed washcloths, of which I have 2). (Inspired by @Rinna) Sew in ends of neckwarmers (7, with maybe more to come). Somehow, through a conversation I had at work months ago, I recruited myself to finishing knitted items for poor children. So now I have a bag of them to finish. 🤷‍♀️ Life is random sometimes. (Inspired by @Avery the Patient) Read two Sherlock Holmes stories by the end of the year. Shooting for Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town as well. (Inspired by @Artemis Prime) Squatmas. (Inspired by @Mr_Willes) Revise 5-year plan; set out some kind of plan for the year to come. (Inspired by @UnquietBones) Play through an IF game. (Inspired by @DarK_RaideR) Build vocal booth. (Inspired by ... the pipes I dragged home today; apparently no one else is building anything this month) Grab Bag of Joyful habits: I would love to say I will aim to do these all every day, but that's crazy unrealistic. I shall track them and see what I gravitate towards. Walk outdoors. I no longer live in a place where this is dangerous after dark, merely cold and unpleasant so I just don't wanna, even though it's good for me. It is, however, approaching the perfect time of year for stargazing. I think I should be able to see some constellations. If not, Christmas lights will be an acceptable substitute. (Inspired by @Heidi and @Snarkyfishguts) Shuffle dance! It's fun and good for quick bursts of indoor exercise. (Inspired by @WhiteGhost) Get back into Elements. It's been too long since regular exercise. (Inspired by @Mistr) Practice violin. It's been a couple of months, and I miss it. Plus I have three songs to get ready, maybe for an end-of-year finish? We shall see... (Inspired by @WhiteGhost and @Artemis Prime) Play around with d20 lists. I have three right now - a general one, a side hustle one, and a 1st/2nd quadrant one. This is an experiment in simplifying my time blocking, getting things done, and having a place to dump tasks I think of all in one. Three weeks of playtime should give me some idea how workable this is. (Inspired by @Kishi and @spezzy) Read and post on the forums. (Inspired by @Starpuck) Prayer and scripture. (Inspired by @WolfDreamer) I will not complete all the things. I know this going in. But I have lots of fun options and flexibility, which is just what I need. (If you came here because you got pinged, sorry but not sorry, because now you know I stole from you. )
  3. To be the greatest thief of all time I have to do what the greatest have done, makes sense right? Malek Yes Malek is one of the Greatest thieves of all time because he never got caught and he was always stealing something, two very important things for a thief to do. To be more like Malek I need to get his focus, but instead of stealing I will be using his focus to record and track my food and water A=perfection 42 3 points B=Good effort 30plus 2 points C=Acceptable 20 plus 1 point Dick Turpin Dick Turpin and Black Bess were legendary for there ride from London to York, a ride I will recreate on my Bike London to York 280 K =174 miles! I am sure I can do it, but how FAST that is the question A=One weekend 3 points B=One Week 2 points C=Two Weeks 1 point Robin Freaking Hood Takes from the Rich and Gives to the poor, gotta love this thief I ride with a group that hands outs burritos and food to homeless people around the Memphis Area and this is my Robin Hood Goal A=Ride more than once every week for the 6 weeks 3 points B=Ride at least once a week 2 points C= Anything less than once a week 1 point
  4. My Main Quest: Become an Apprentice in the Order of the Keepers Current state: Kid on the street, running messages and picking pockets to keep my ribs form meeting my spine. (Not literally, but you understand, the usual beginner stage) Has anyone played or remember the Theif series? I loved those games so much and that is why I make so many refrences to it. For those who don’t know what I am rambling about, the Thief that I am referring to is Garrett who basically is like Etzio from Assassin’s Creed but doesn’t kill, only breaks into places and steals whatever valuable they have. Trust me, the games are really good even though the first one is now 16 years old. The story is what makes it so good. Specific goals: 1. Keep a handstand for 20 seconds. I will practice it every day for at least 5 minutes – The 28 Day Handstand Challenge. (I started doing them from 1. February and till now, 16.February, my longest stand is 11 seconds and I hope to beat it in 6 weeks and am slowly working my way up to 60 sec. Plus a thief needs great balance and hand strenght to climb those castle walls) 2. Read 250 pages of the Java Object-Orented Problem Solving book and try to do all Self-Study Exercises. So that is about 6 pages per day. If anyone is educated it the Java language then please tell me because I have some questions about the meanings of some of the terms. (An Apprentice needs to be educated in the languages of the system) 3. Complete all the subjects till the third checkpoint in gold, in the Duolingo German language course. (An Apprentice must also be albe to speak to foreighners and invite them to join the Rebellion) My motivation: I want to finally learn a language, both a computer and a national and at the moment I am the farthest that I have ever been with both of them and this time I will NOT give up and start over. I will continue till the end. As for the handstants, again I tried it when I was younger and failed, but my admiration for the ability to do it remained the same so I now want to learn that also once and for all.
