  1. Hello. I have reached a point in my fitness journey where I don't know what to do. I have always been very slender (5'8", 115lbs) I have started my weight gain journey consuming weight gain shakes both Optimum Nutrition Mass and sometimes Boost Plus and eating a moderate protein based diet. I do weight training (occasionally) and natural cardio (walking, cycling and stairs) I have noticed some weight gain as I am now fluctuating around 120lbs. Problem I am having is that some of the weight went to my belly and waist. I'm sure it has alot to do with the sugar content in the shakes. I don't want to have to lose body weight just to get a flat stomach as I am already too slender (bmi 17.48) Are there any tips to get a flat stomach while gaining body weight? I'd like more weight everywhere but not my stomach. I've added a few photos for reference. Some days are worst than others. I honestly feel like the photos don't do my belly fat any justice. It's (sorry for clarity)

  3. Hi! I've recently put myself to body weight workout recently because I had to build up a muscular base to hold my skeleton together. Now that back aches are gone and that I stand straight i'm stiil underweight and i'd like to know how to build weight and shapes (or at least hide these bones) that last. Is there any special workout i should do or another way to workout? (if possible without big diet changes from a normal healthy diet)
  4. Hi everyone! I'm 21 y.o., female and I'm 98 lbs. 98 lbs for 5'2" is quite underweight for my height (108-115lbs is the normal range) and I want to gain some weight but do it using the healthiest and most sustainable way possible, which is ofcourse, done through a proper diet and regular exercise. I run 30 mins on and off but I started doing it on a much more regular basis 2 weeks ago. i started noticing that my legs are improving but my arms felt like they need to catch up, so I decided to hit the gym the other day and I was taught by a friend to use the machines. I really loved the feeling of making my muscles cry from some weight and I thought that I'll probably enjoy lifting and getting much more strength and bulk this way. So I did more research and it turns out that doing some free weight lifting is the best way to go and that machine-aided weight training isn't the most efficient way to gain strength/more muscle. So I'm wondering if any of you guys can help me in terms of how much stuff should I eat and what types of lifting that I can do to achieve my goal weight of 110 lbs? I kind of have an idea in terms of what to do next time I hit the gym, but I'd like to have more insight as to what I should do since I'm just starting out at this. If it's possible, i don't mind getting examples of meal plans and gym routines and maybe a few random tips too And is it true that I should stop running if getting buff is my goal? Thank you!
  5. Dear Awesome Moms of the Rebellion, I'm Kim - a mom in training (read: 19 weeks pregnant with my first kiddo). I eat clean, I used to do the body weight routines and walk or hike a couple times a week (since preggo, it's been a little more walking than anything else). Other than the sheer terrified panic I feel about being responsible for a tiny human, I feel pretty good. But I have a problem... I am not gaining weight. I started this thing at 136lbs +/- 1. As of this morning, I'm at 140.5lbs. My midwife wants me to be at least at 143lbs by now. Before my last check up, I totally weight doped by drinking 20oz of water before I had to weigh in so that my midwife wouldn't be cranky (it should also be mentioned that she works for a very large hospital system and doesn't subscribe to "paleo" or "clean" so it's kind of difficult to talk to her about foods... I asked if it would be ok to do a protein shake if I felt like I wasn't getting enough and she just looked at me like I was a psychopath. Alas, that's what my insurance is.). I've increased my caloric intake by about 400 cals (maintenance is about 1500 for me). All has to be eaten in small increments because I get full really fast, but I'm eating like 6-7 times a day. Usually, all good real food like wild planet tuna on spinach and kale salad or homemade sweet potato chips dipped in guacamole. But I've also tried ice cream, and whole boxes of mac and cheese made with heavy cream, and chihuahua sized burritos (sometimes all in the same day). All to no avail. Starting to worry about it because I don't want to sabotage a small person before they're out in the world, and all the information about weight gain is just that you should be within a range of gain while preggo. A lot of information is that you just shouldn't gain too much or that you shouldn't eat certain things. How did the rest of you do it? Any insights you have would be much appreciated!
