  1. Hey guys! So, I've just been browsing the site, clicking different things, seeing what does what etc. I couldn't help but feel it's slightly out dated! The site as a whole is awesome, and I'm sure took quite a bit to get where it is, but it's seems quite old school too! With things existing now like Reddit, Slack, Discord etc. there are some small quality of life things I think would be awesome to implement! Just tossing ideas out there to ponder on and maybe try out some day (: 1: Discord. Discord is an awesome app that was originally built for gamers but is now used by many different communities. (I know I mentioned Slack, but TBH Discord has a lot more benefits, runs a lot smoother, and offers a lot of free utilities that Slack does not.) I think it would be an awesome, easy, cheap addition to the community. With control over different Roles, Channels, Categories, etc. the possibilities are virtually endless. It would make for a more updated and streamlined way to connect. I have built a couple servers myself, one for my group of close buddies to hang out and game on, another for my school. The school is more interesting to me as it's holding a lot more people in it, a lot more active with a ton of different roles/channels etc. I passed ownership of it over to the CEO of the school after building it and teaching them how to use it. I think it would be an awesome way for people to connect. You could have it set up similar to the forums, with categories for each guild, events, etc. It would be amazing! 2: The tools used to build the sites! I think it'd be super awesome to see AT LEAST the main site transition to a React build. React is awesome. Facebook made it. It basically creates single-page UIs. Which is awesome, because less data usage, smoother transitions, and more. I'm fully versed in the MERN Stack, (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) and the things you can build with such a set up are AMAZING, appealing to look at, and fun! 3: Finally, a redesign of the forums. I'm sure the forums have been home to many people for a long time. And it's unique, and a cool place to get a ton of information. But it could use an overhaul itself. In the back of it all, there are so many links, reroutes, etc going on it's crazy. And the design is super old school. And that's okay! But it could totally be updated and rebuilt to. Again, throwing React out there. Because the technology is very strong, and growing every day, with new packages and tools being added all the time. I found an example of a React based forum called reforum. Should be the second or third result in a Google search if you wanna check it out! There is a live demo of it on herokuu. It seems to load very quickly, and the current settings can be easily adjusted and modified to look prettier and fit the needs of Nerd Fitness. Anyway, that's the end of my suggestion list for now. I don't mean any harm by it! Just simple things I notice as I'm messing around with things. Even if none of it is implemented, definitely check them out and give each tool a chance! If there are questions I'd be happy to dive deeper in to it all!
  2. It has been a while since i have been here. I will explain why below. First of all i want to appoligize to all people who were depending on me one way or another for dissapearing all of a sudden. And now what happend. I have hit a financial low. I hada huge stack of bills that had to be paid. This led to the point where i was working 3 jobs next to my internship, study and excercising. I had to cut something out and not posting on Nerdfitness sort of happened on its own. The good news is that i got almost everything paid off, tomorow i am working my last shift on one of the jobs. The second job stops in 3 weeks. After that no more morning paper round but Weekend and nights paintball, airsoft, quad and archery tag. All in all a good deal. My internship is almost over. I started at a new gym and i completed2 more strongman runs. i will not start a new challenge yet, first get back into the habit of checking this site.
  3. Good morning everyone! My name is Travis, but of course I go by Synyster here. I have been with this site for many, many years! I have been in and out quite a bit, mostly due to personal issues. I am re introducing myself as I have not been on here in almost 3 years!!! I was doing some research for my website when I came across some old posts I had made here and nostalgia hit hard like a rock. I am still very much in to fitness these days. I have ventured in to bodybuilding and plan to compete next year. I moved last year from Las Cruces, New Mexico to D'Iberville, Mississippi and have met a lot of bodybuilder friends here! I have learned a ton from them and improved so much more than I could ever hope for! I currently work for a company called Freedom Boat Club in Biloxi, and it has been a major blessing! Here's why: 1. I get to work with boats all day! I clean and fuel them, and when no one is using them I drive them around for fun!! MAJOR PERK THERE! 2. If I'm not busy (like today) I have been given the freedom to work on my own business! AWESOME SAUCE! 3. Because business is slow (it is a brand new club in Biloxi, just opened about 4 months ago so it is growing) I only work 3 days a week! It's bad hours for pay, BUT 4. It has pushed me to invest in a domain name and host. With that I have started up my own blog, experimented with an affiliate product (I will probably remove it shortly, but it is still up for sale for the time being) and am now taking a 90 day course to help build my website up to grow my Subscriber list! The research I was doing for my website led me to a forum post here about online entrepreneurs. I was reading it and saw my profile and thought "Whoah. This is years old!" Do you guys know how AWESOME it is to look back at something from a FEW YEARS AGO and see how much you have progressed? How one little thing had pushed me to finally invest in something I have only read and dreamt about doing?! I'm super excited guys! And I am SO VERY HAPPY to come back here, share my experiences and LEVEL UP with NERD FITNESS!! WOO!
