  1. So I'm struggling to lose fat particularly around my hips and would really appreciate any suggestions for exercises which build muscle around the lower waist (i.e. love handles, lower abs/stomach). I mostly do leg raises and use the abdominal machine to work my abs and have just started doing Russian twists with a medicine ball too. One of my long-term goals is to have a v-line/defined hips - does anyone have any advice for achieving this? [if relevant, i'm a girl, 5'6", 61kg/134lb]
  2. Hey guys, I am trying to set a goal for inches around my belly. I am moderately athletic and active, but trying to improve my eating habit. With my 5'6" and 160lb (36" waist), I look like a very pleasant, very buff, very pregnant young man when I don't hold my stomach in. I want to set a smart goal to eliminate those inches for the next challenge. My ultimate goal would be 29-30", which is pretty lean. However, it's not going to be done in 2 months. Do you know how to set a reasonable goal to lost inches off my waistline? How much should I aim for in 2 months time that would be fast but won't make me try to kill myself? 1 inch? 2 inches? 3? I tried looking around the interweb, but they're pretty vague about it. Thanks in advance for all the feedback, answers, and comments!
  3. For the past 2 months I've been eating as clean as possible and sticking to my workout plan as often as possible (of course, with a few hiccups and wagon falls along the way). Today when I looked in the mirror I could see a difference around my middle, and decided to try on a pair of old size 14 jeans I had in the back of my closet. I haven't been a size 14 for two years now, continually struggling to find 16s that I liked how I looked in. Today I zipped up those 14s with no trouble! They looked awful, by the way, but it was still a huge confidence boost!
  4. When I started out with NF in December I made a pact with myself that I would actually set goals; for the last few years my time at the gym was measured mainly in vague "as long as I keep doing something and I'm sweaty and tired by the time I leave, that's good enough for me." I decided it was time to get serious, though, so the initial goals I set were as follows: 1. Get down to a 30" waist by Valentine's Day (yes, I was going to see a special friend) 2. Get waist back down to 28", about where it was in high school a mere 10 years ago 3. Deadlift my body weight 4. Bench press my aforementioned special friend... he's kind of a small guy 5. Do a pull up Obviously as I check these off my list I add new ones. I'm happy to report I accomplished #1 and I'm getting awfully close to #s 3 and 4, but I just busted out my tape measure and... 27.5" waist! WHAT?? Granted, I haven't eaten much today so my tummy is empty but still... dudes, I am so pumped. For reference, when I made these goals I was sitting at about 31.5". SO. PUMPED.
