  1. So here's the next challenge! I had a great time with my Holiday 2020 Challenge: Sliders. So here's my 2021 challenge! This one deals with everything Sci-Fi! For every goal I hit, I'll post my a new Sliders badge here! (I made so many and they look so cool, I'll keep using them.) So here are my big goals: lose 10lbs by the end of this challenge practice piano everyday for an hour create a morning routine (and stick to it!) get rid of MAJOR distractions (like random platforms, etc.) 2021 HERE I COME!
  2. What if you could travel to parallel worlds? The same year, the same Earth, only different dimensions. A world where the Russians rule America... or where your dreams of being superstar came true... or where San Francisco was a maximum-security prison. I found the gateway! Now the problem is... finding a way back home. While I'm lost in the multiverse, I find myself in all sorts of situations and jams. ~~~|S|L|I|D|E|R|S|~~~ Right now I'm traveling through the portal and I was watching the inside of the portal with its endless twisting and turning. The bright colors flowed over me like a river all around me. However, the trip was about to come to an end because I saw a bright light rushing towards me at the end of the portal and then suddenly I was forced out and onto my back. Aching and groaning, I gingerly get to feet. As I take in my surroundings, I noticed that I slid into a beautiful but vast forest area. I strained my ears to hear something. Anything. But alas, there was no sign of human life anywhere. Taking my timer out, I see that my interdenominational device is counting down 168 hours. I'm stuck on forest World for a week...great, I think to myself. But just as I put my timer back in my NF jacket pocket, I hear very faint voices in a distance. Thinking it's just my mind playing a trick on me, I pay it no mind and start walking in a random direction. That is until a chunk of tree bark shatters above my head! In shock, I looked down, from my crouched position, at the ground and notice a golden bullet casing gleaming in the sun. Now freaked: I hit the ground running! As I'm running and ducking and jumping, the screaming voices from earlier are more apparent and I hear someone yell, "Faster Q-Ball! We've got to get away from Rickman!" "Tell me something I don't know Cryin' Man!" The other voice responds. But I didn't hear anything else because my foot got caught on an uprooted tree root. The ground was a little moist and hard and unforgiving. But as I slip into unconsciousness, several shadows appear above me... What happens next? Resources: https://www.daniel-timms.com/gamification-for-productivity/ Length: 1 week Skills: walk 1 mile everyday 1 min hill sprints 5 push-ups box jump #1 5 inverted rows Goals: lose 2lbs Reward: watch 2015 movie Parallels THIS IS A SORT OF P.S.: I've already written more than a few of these stories on other platforms; however, I've altered them here for my workout journey! 😅
  3. Background Three weeks to the Mighty Mosquito 99 trail race! So my main priority for week zero is to finish my last week of full training, week one and week two for a progressive taper, week three for recovery and who knows after that. So for this challenge it makes more sense to just have a weekly goal and will include a graded week zero, so 2 stat points for each of the seven weeks and 1 stat point for the race. I think I might have a biking goal later on in the challenge, maybe a walking for recovery goal, I don't know yet. Weekly goals can be refined as long as the week hasn't started yet. Week Zero 100 mile week +2 STA (grading based on 50 to 100 miles) Week One Workout easy and short everyday +2 DEX (grading based on 3 to 7 days) Week Two Primal eating +2 CON (grading based on Monday through Friday) Mighty Mosquito 99 Do the race +1 STA (grading based on 33 to 99 miles) Week Three Easy recovery +2 WIS (grading based on who knows, how does someone grade recovery) Week Four Continue recovery with 15 dog walks (boy oh boy will my dog love this!). +2 CHA Week Five Five bike rides? +2 DEX Week Six To be determined. +2 ? Stats LVL: 23, FAILS: 2, STR: 37, DEX: 32.5, STA: 53.5, CON: 25.75, WIS: 19.5, CHA: 14.75
  4. Good evening, ladies and gentlement. I'm Fallhammer, and I'm pretty new to this whole "take care of your body" business. However, since NerdFitness seems to be the one place where the workouts make sense, and I'm currently a shapeless twig of a man with low blood pressure and sucky eating habbits... Well, I'd like to alter my being into someone who is proud and confident with themselves. So I'm attempting the Angry Birds workout routine. Week 1/ Day 1 (12/30/2013) Squats: (G)30 - 20/x/x/x/x Push Up: (G)40 - 10/x/x/x/x Pull Ups: (G)1 - 1/x/x/x/x Plank: (G) 60sec - 30 sec/x/x/x/x Yeah. Not too hot yet, but not too bad either. Hey, I can do a pull up! 160 lb guy, but I can get my chin over that bar on a wide arm pull up! Still, coulden't make it past a single set of any of it. The workout had flattened me after only 10 minutes or so! Forward to today, with a workout every other day-ish. Week 1/ day 5 (01/10/2014) Squats: (G)80 - 25/25/25/x/x Push Up: (G)40 - 12/12/12/x/x Pull Ups: (G)10 - 2/2/2/x/x Plank: (G) 120sec - 45 sec/45 sec/ 35 sec /x/x So, after a week's workouts and attempting to clean up my diet, I've improved a fair bit. I'm certian that this initial wave of improvement won't last too long... probably just my body waking up, so to speak and saying "oh, you're using me? cool." but then, you all are the experts and I'm fresh from the computer desk. Even so, after this one week, I'm already feeling better, but my diet is still needing work... Anyway, since you all have a forum dedicated to tracking progress, and since it seems this particular community feeds into each other, I conclude that tracking here as well as on my paper on the desk would be fun. -- as far as eating habits go, I'm comming off daily fast food and into a routine of cooking fresh and adding large quantities of spinnach and broccoli and asperagus to my diet. I'm eyeballing this paleo menu, and noting the distinct lack of bread and cheese, two of my very favorite things. Perhaps I can cut bread, but I may keep small bits of cheese and milk in my diet... but then again, that "whole30" program looks promosing too -- but then again, there's a steryotype of the "eager beaver" I need to learn to keep under control. I'm a man of many projects but none that are finished. I aim to change that streak. Anyway, I've cut bread from my diet, and most pasta (still a handful of spagetti when I cook chicken w/ fistfulls of greens), and noticed a steep energy drop-off... I'm adding in sweet potatoes (seems like a no-brainer now that I think about it) to try and get my energy back. Right? The potatoes replace the bread and pastas, from what I gather... Back to the researching I go. See you in a week! EDIT -- Quick update: sweet potatoes are delicious. Why have I not eaten these before? boggles the head...
