  1. When we last left off, our noble party of would-be adventurers had been given a simple task. Tofdir Duflame, gnomish proprietor of the Fiery Grog Tavern, had tasked the party with hunting rats in his basement. They were promised a silver piece for every rat tail they returned with, and in the fashion of all great adventurers had gone about their task with much enthusiasm. So much enthusiasm, in fact, that they saw no problem in attacking that weird rat, the one with the exposed brain, which fled through the back of a large wardrobe in the tavern cellar. Chasing the creature into the wardrobe, our noble heroes found themselves flung into another place entirely, with no clear way to get back. Unperturbed, the party continued to slay rats and collect tails (a silver piece is a silver piece, after all), venturing further and further into the tunnels they found themselves in. Eventually the way opened out into a large chamber, where a voice spoke inside each of their minds. The voice warned them that they were trespassing on their terrain, but assured them that they would be put to good use as food for the colony. Only then did the creature emerge. A mass of fleshy, writhing tentacles surrounding a blind, milky white eye. The lower tentacles whipped through the air with a wet, swishing sound, as the creature hovered slowly closer to the party. Worse though were the upper tentacles, each of which held another cloudy white eye. This was to be the party's first encounter with a mindwitness: A terrible battle ensued, with the party slinging spells and slashing weapons at the creature, and the creature for its own part firing beams of energy from the horrible orbs embedded within its tentacles. Ultimately the party were able to destroy the beast, but still they were too late. Too loud, and too late. Just, barely, too late. As the creature finally fell to the ground, twitching and writhing like a jelly pot in a blender, a horde of creatures entered through the doors on the far side of the room. These creatures, much like the midwitness, appeared to be blind, their empty eye sockets covered by a sealed layer of skin. Their vaguely humanoid forms were grey in colour, and covered in and wiry, black hair. Wearing only scraps of makeshift clothing they carried primitive weapons made of bones, stones, and teeth. None of that though was quite as unnerving as the sound of these creatures. As they charged towards the party, a horde of sightless savages ready to tear them apart, these creatures made no noise at all. No battle cry, no grunts and goans of exertion, and scarcely a murmur of sound as their bare feet hit the floor. An eerie silence pervaded as the creatures closed. * * * So this challenge, @Starpuck, @Raxie and @DarK_RaideRwill be following up on our group challenge we ran two challenges ago. Last time we took the mindwitness all the way down from 71hp to 1hp, but failed to kill it in time before a new threat arrived. This time, rather than one large beast, we will be fighting a veritable horde of grimlocks: As we complete our goals we'll do damage to the grimlocks, and hopefully be able to slay the horde. Each grimlock only has 11hp, but there's a lot of them. How many? Well, I have to keep a bit of suspense for now And so we will face the monster together, both literally and figuratively, and update on how we’ve done here for our mutual entertainment. We have 3 weeks of challenge to defeat this threat, and so every goal and every point of damage counts. And with that, I will leave it to the players to introduce their characters and their goals.

With my own challenge this time being werewolf-themed, I noticed that I'm not the only one around here who loves wolves and werewolves. There's quite a few of you raging, full moon-loving beasties out there too! So, in order to keep all us lupine lovers on track with our individual challenges, I propose W.A.G., the Wolf/Werewolf Accountabillibuddy Group. Target: Engage others: Make 1-5 supportive and engaging fitness friends Manage calorie intake: less than 1700 Be more active Either daily to build habits OR 3-5 times a week to maximize the program. ** Though I see HUGE advantage from S.M.A.R.T ing this I am intentionally keeping it light to reduce underpants collecting and focus on doing/ reporting the battle. Narrative: I recently found out my medical insurance offer reimbursement for a gym membership and fees. Part of qualifying included a health assessment. The biggest gap it highlighted was my support network- I am here for a friend (pun/dual meaning intended) Therefore I am casting a wide net to address this. As a C/S (DISC assessment) introvert, I am looking for close inquisitive support; check-ins are a huge boost. ** I also want this whole post more fleshed out but secretly thirst to discuss and explore doing that with someone. The format of FB (specifically NFA) does not offer great support. I have tried the Accountabilibuddies forum a few times. These challenge forms have provided good support in the past with a few things I need to get over: a) I set SMART goals that are not what I really need b) Find it Difficult to stay in touch regularly (FB is good at this) *** Based on my level and objectives fit a bit better in the Rebel forums but... Ranger is more active and I feel a bit of comradery here (for target 1) Respawning. Looking to lose weight to get BP and Cholesterol in check. I have made a massive diet/lifestyle changes over the last 1.5-2 years and am eating very clean. A few years back I was turned away from donating blood because my thick arms make my vein to hard to get and last month because BP was too high. A month ago I was turned down for term life insurance (likely BMI and BP) I have never found a 'big why' that I connect with. Listing to "Level up Your Life" last week I identified that part of it is I have no interest in being adventurous etc. On a daily or weekly basis, there is not something I can't do, that i could then use as a motivator. Last week, thanks to a co-worker, I got around my excused for tracking calories. (Vs just managing portions sizes) Exercise, strength training, is a great fit for my mental health. I need professional guidance to decide it strength training is needed to help metabolism Or cardio for heart health. In the past (at college 15 years ago) I did great swimming ~30 min a day. Gym pass is not an issue (as of last week found out insurance does reimbursements) But as a dad of 3, I don't consistently get out of the house. Early summer, my work did an 'active minutes' challenge. I found that very motivating.

  5. === Urgent message to the Rebellion! === For all who currently struggle to find time for posting and reading others' posts but still want NF accountability, here is a thread where we can do that in a minimal, Twitter-style way. I would love to do all the gifs and engage with every Ranger and then some - I just love it - but currently cannot afford it. Yet, I have grown very lazy without accountability. So, better something small than nothing. The plan: Just post very shortly what do you aim to do each week, and at its end (Saturday or Sunday), again very shortly share if you succeeded. If you want to write longer, that's great, but I encourage you to do it on the regular 4WC threads. Here, in order to easily keep each other accountable, let's keep it short and sweet.   6. I recently discovered Darebee.com for fitness routines. Last challenge, I tried Athena's Playbook which was a nice change from my usual workouts. This time though, I'm upping the anti by trying the Hero's Journey workout. A friend of mine picked this one since he tried Athena with me. He's not a member here though, so I thought maybe others might want to join us in our quest to become heroes. The Hero's Journey has elements of RPG in it and is geared towards weight loss, streamline and tone with a difficulty of 3/5. It is also a double challenge at 60 days long, so it's going to be hard! If you choose to join, you are committing to working towards your Hero's Journey for 60 days. Go to the website and download the PDF and then we'll get started on Monday with this challenge.   7. Hey all, I'm new at this. Mainly starting one just for the sake of being part of a needed "accountiabilibuddies". Name of group, basing it off of my "Camp era, counselor year". Where we taught youngins', better to stay in numbers. (in two, three, or more). Figured it would be a fun way to hit challenge goals, and making sure you have help on the way! Pretty much challenge will be to either make a challenge of yourself to check in this thread so many times? Or give yourself to have a goal to just post on your own thread, or/and friends threads? Challenge idea from knowing a lot of people (and truly myself), needing a bit more help (or more fun) at posing on their own threads and a group friends/stay in contact with people. Again first time ever really making/being apart of these groups. But thought it would be a fun idea, a long with a theme. Maybe Cabin Fever? For March? Well looks like I came up with a theme to add more pics... or discussion ideas.
  8. So I am wondering if there is someone out there who is working on the same or similar goals for this Jan. Challenge? I am working on weight training exercises and strengthening exercises. I am looking for a Accountabilibuddies and I'd like to help you out as well. I love yoga but have fallen out of regular practice. My goal is to do yoga and stretches several times a week. I also want to work on the strengthening my muscles, especially my legs and arms. I want to be successful with my goals. I think I need to someone to encourage me and check in. Then I will kick my butt into gear.

(I fit both of these categories myself this challenge.) So if you're still looking for an accountability group a couple days into week 2, hit me up! We three got in on my original thread about needing accountability so I made this thread for public discussion about anything to do with our weight loss goals and the journey to get there. I dont think we should limit ourselves to just talking here but it's a start where we can all come to talk about anything to do with our day: ups/downs, success at the gym or scale, maybe a slip up and get support for all of it! The Wild Hunt is an ethereal hunting party, summoned from the depths of Faerie and made up of Sidhe lords and ladies along with their companions. It is designed to ride down prey with cold, and brutal, efficiency. While you are out late and alone one Halloween night, you hear the sound of a hunting horn and the baying of a pack of hounds. Terror grips you and you only have three choices: join, hide or die. Joining the hunt means competing again the best warriors of all time: Odin, Herne the Hunter, King Arthur, and the Erlking, among others.   21. Hello and welcome! I've come to the realization that oftentimes, it isn't WHAT we eat, but HOW we eat that is the biggest problem when it comes to food. Mindless eating happens for many reasons; boredom, social interaction, emotions, etc. For myself, I've noticed two very prominent patterns for my mindless eating: 1 - Depriving myself of the foods I love most like bread and sugar. I tend to label certain foods as "banned" and then try to come up with "healthier" alternatives. When it comes down to it, my brain (and stomach) wants what it wants, and eventually I feel the need to binge on the foods I've banned. It's VERY difficult for me to eliminate any food for more than a couple weeks without going crazy. 2 - Allowing myself to become too hungry. Life happens. Sometimes it gets so busy or hectic that I forget to eat whether it is a meal or snack, and then suddenly I'm famished! I feel the need to fill the hunger void quickly. I could mostly describe it by this scene from "Finding Nemo", especially from about the 1:10 mark on… That being said; my wish is to create a safe place for us to share our victories as well as struggles (no matter how big or small) when it comes to eating. Other things to think about: - What are your triggers that make meal or snack time become mindless? - How can you change your environment to make eating an occasion rather than just eating on the run? - What are some other activities you could do to keep from emotional or boredom eating? - Have you mastered the art of mindful eating? If so, what are some suggestions for those of us who may be feeling lost? Ready? Set? Go!
  22. The 10,000 swing challenge is the stuff of legends in kettlebell circles. It's been used, copied, morphed and twisted. I'm inviting you to join me in a 10,000 swing challenge. This challenge will be kept very simple but you should add your own flourishes. Simply put, by the time the next challenge rolls out (early April) I challenge you to do 10,000 kettlebell hinge movements. If you think that you're up to that basic challenge, read the Q&A and head over to the spreadsheet to signup. Q&A Q: What's a "kettlebell hinge movement"? A: Any movement taking the kettlebell from below your hips to above your hips counts. This includes but is not limited to swings, snatches and cleans. Q: What if I think 10,000 is too many (too few)? A: You are allowed to do as many as you want, with any weight you want. I would encourage you to do the math, how many workouts will you do between now and April, how many swings will you do per work, now multiply. I would also remind you to challenge yourself. Q: Do you mean one arm or two arm sings? A: I mean any number of arms. A two handed swing counts the same as a one handed swing which counts the same as a two kettlebell swing (one in each hand) Q: What if I hurt myself? A: Please don't but if you do, take care of yourself and come back when you can. The idea of this group is to be encouraging, not punitive. Q: Can I just watch? A: Yes, but I'd encourage you not to. Q: What is I don't have access to a kettlebell A: You could theoretically do this with a dumbbell but honestly, I would say this may not be the right challenge for you.
