  1. Monk related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Monks can kick your ass with their fists and feet, and they can do it before you even know what's happened. Incredibly agile, lightning fast, and loaded with power, Monks specialize in martial arts to stay in shape and destroy the opposition. * Fictional example: Neo (The Matrix); Beatrix Kiddo (Kill Bill); Black Widow (Marvel) UFC Fighters Georges St. Pierre & Ronda Rousey * Real-world example: UFC Fighters Georges St. Pierre & Ronda Rousey * Typical Activities: MMA, BJJ, Karate
  2. Warrior related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. You love the idea of getting stronger and more powerful. Every day is an opportunity to move heavy things or test yourself against others in competition and prove your might. * Fictional example: Thor of Asgard (The Avengers); Brienne of Tarth (Game of Thrones) * Real-world example: Mattie Rogers, US Weightlifting Olympic team; 10x IFP World Champ Jen Thompson; Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays The Mountain on Game of Thrones.
  3. Scout related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Built for distance and efficiency rather than strength and power, you can outlast any animal on the planet. Your muscles are designed with endurance in mind, and you can cover great distances whenever necessary. * Fictional example: Legolas of the Woodland Realm (Lord of the Rings), Tauriel (The Hobbit) * Real-world example: Rita Jeptoo, Boston Marathon record holder; Jan Frodeno, 2008 Olympic gold medalist and 2015 Ironman champion * Typical Activities: Running, Swimming, Biking
  4. Ranger related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. A jack-of-all-trades, Rangers are well-equipped for any situation. You're good at strength training and pretty good at covering distances when required, but neither is a specialty. * Fictional example: Jon Snow (Game of Thrones), Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games), Aragorn (Lord of the Rings) * Real-world example: Mat Fraser, multi-times CrossFIt Games champion; Sara Sigmundsdottir, CrossFit competitor. * Typical Activities: CrossFit, High Intensity Interval Training, general mixed training (running and lifting, for example)
  5. Adventurer related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Adventurers are brave souls who fear nothing and are always curious about what's over the next hill or across the ocean. They are often found working diligently with their allies to help ensure that every adventure leads down the correct path, exploring and learning for the sake of others. * Fictional example: Indiana Jones, Lara Croft (Tomb Raider) * Real-world example: Les Stroud (Survivorman); Cheryl Strayed who hiked 1100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail (Wild). * Example Activities: Hiking, Geo-caching, Travel, Exploration, Rock Climbing, Cave Diving, etc.
  6. Druid related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Druids spend a majority of their time training in the arts of yoga, tai chi, and other movement-based disciplines. Each movement has a purpose, and that purpose is to further improve the dexterity, agility, and strength of the druid. * Fictional example: Lady Galadriel & Gandalf the Grey (The Lord of the Rings) * Real-world example: Josh Waitzkin, Tai Chi Push Hands US champion and chess prodigy; Kate Merolt of Nerd Fitness Yoga fame! * Typical Activities: Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation, Dance, etc.
  7. Assassin related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Every building can be climbed, every gap can be jumped, and every obstacle can be conquered. Assassins spend most of their time training with functional body-weight exercises, as that's usually the only thing they need to lift. Gymnasts and parkour enthusiasts would fit into this category. * Fictional example: Ezio Auditore (Assassin's Creed 2), Oliver Queen (Arrow); Elektra (Marvel) * Real-world example: Kacy Catanzaro of American Ninja Warrior fame; Damien Walters, professional stuntman, gymnastics coach, and free-running professional * Example Activities: Parkour, gymnastics, bodyweight strength, dance & aerials, etc.
  8. Rebel related discussions! *Note: You can participate in guild discussions regardless of your chosen guild. Generalized nerd fitness. After finishing your first challenge in the Level 1 Guild, you may not be sure which guild to pick - if so, this is where you fall. Many choose to stay with the Rebels guild long term as it is a great place for people pursuing any healthier lifestyle. This outstanding guild is full of supportive people developing healthier habits, leveling up their fitness, and ironing out their nutrition. * Example Activities: Any!

  10. Welcome to the new challenge! The Juice Bar is here again, with fresh new recipes, and is a place for fellow rebels to hang out, talk, ask and give advice, talk about interesting things and support each other! Talk about whether or not you will be moving to other guilds, or why you've come back, or why you've come to NerdFitness for the first time. Feel free to make yourselves comfortable in the Juice Bar, show us your best gif, and welcome to the new challenge and this community! I'm going to try something new - but here's a quick challenge for ya'll! 1) Say hi 2) Post a gif (your favourite, a hello, or something else) 3) Tell us who your favourite hero is and why (fictional or not) ** For any new people, don't hesitate to ask me or anyone for assistance. If you want specific Nerd Fitness advice, try and talk to someone with 500+ posts under their name. If you want their attention, ask in this thread (or their thread), PM them (click on their name and click message), or @ tag them in the thread.
  11. Howdy, I'm new to NF and love to climb. I have always been pretty active but my diet has been the main faulty point. Lately I have been using my work as an excuse saying things like, "I walked a ton today, so that caounts towards a workout." and "I'm just too exhausted to go workout.". Which is total BS and I know better. Diet-wise, I have been eating like garbage. It's been fast food, junk or no food at all. Here is my Challange for the next 4 weeks; Main: Get back to working out daily Body: Climb (in-gym or outdoors) x3 a week Mind: Yoga every morning & Meditate nightly Diet: Start switching to a Paleo based diet. I'll be posting updates daily to help keep myself accountable as well as logging every bit of food and water I intake onto MyFitness Pal. Let's crush out the next 4 weeks!
  12. As in, is it possible to run long-distance as well as being good at martial arts, whilst being very strong and flexible? The closest guild I can think of are the Rangers (but they're just strength and endurance) or the Adventurer's, but the latter (according to it's description) seems more like something you pick if you're unsure what guild to join. I know you can do hybrid guilds, but wouldn't it be easier if there was a guild that covers everything?
  13. So I was going through the classes the other night, as I am kinda new, and thought.. hmm.. I'm kind of a warrior, but strength training won't be my only focus.. I'm kind of a Ranger, but also kind of a Scout.. Somewhere in between is where I really fit.. I hate running, but everything else? Love it... Here's my idea: A class that focuses on other outdoor sports but not running.. maybe sprinkle a little in there occasionally for those that do like it, but skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cycling, rollerblading, hiking (backpacking too) We could be called Juggernauts. We are hardcore and we use sophisticated tools to help us kill it, whether it is a wheeled steed of steel to aid our treacherous path across the lands, or we travel silently like a rogue, shredding new paths in the back-country snow. But then when we can't get outdoors to continue our epic adventure, we maintain top form in the weight room... Yay, nay? I had a whole post written out and it was awesome... then my laptop died....LOL Rebecca
  14. "You refer to the prophecy of The One who will bring balance to the Force..." "You were the chosen one... You were to bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!" Ever since reading this article, I have wanted to be part of the type of Jedi council it describes. I simply never acted on it until now. I will be taking it quite literal with a Jedi theme. All Star Wars fans welcome. Onto the lore. There exists a recon special ops team within the Resistance. They were simply referred to over radio as "Vision squad," or Vision for short, and the name stuck. They work closely with the Alpha squad on the front line, relaying information and providing support via stealth missions as needed.Recently, the Force has awakened in the galaxy, and a certain number of the Vision squad have found new power.Unsure of what to do with it, they have decided to keep it to themselves, and have grown even closer because of it. I would like this council to be tight-knit and consist of 8 members. Ideally, 4 mentors and 4 mentees, all working together to complete their missions. I have created a Discord server (alternative to Skype) for us to use for meetings and hangouts: Vision Discord server It can be used in your web browser (limited features) or in a full-featured, low resource client. It also has a mobile app.
  15. Alright, Rangers! We've been talking about this and dreaming about this. Now's the time to start doing this! Not much in the way of rules or categories yet. I'm figuring that, as we usually do, we will come to working consensus via discussions in the thread. Post pictures, talk trash, put up links to resources and most of all - HAVE FUN!
  16. Hello! I'm TerosX and this is my 3rd round with leveling up my life through NerdFitness. I really liked the mini-challenge last time where accountabillibuddys guilds were made, so I decided to make my own. To join, just click here and put your name: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnL943o3CTUvdFd4NWpFcnZnMzJFWjVDRVczVUpaakE#gid=4 Each week there might be talk about whatever the mini-challenges are that week, or just ask/talk about whatever. About: I'm 28 and I've been overweight my entire life. I tried weightwatchers, I tried atkins, I tried that HORRIBLE food from nutrisystem, I hit the gym for hours on the treadmill and nothing really stuck long-term for me. Since going *mostly* paleo and getting into strength training (with my 20 pound warhammer + 250 pound tractor tire), I've dropped about 3 pants sizes and what's even more important is that I FEEL better. I'm NOT starving myself; I'm NOT calorie counting, I'm NOT sweating the small stuff. My overall goal here is to drop 100 pounds, do triple-clap pushups, and complete a spartan race. If anyone else wants to put a little intro for the rest of the guild, go right ahead. And everyone try to remember to follow this thread. All are welcome! 17. Hey everyone, my name is Stacey and I'm brand new to the Rebellion! Literally, just purchase the Fitness Guide this morning and rather excited to get started. My main quest is definitely to lose weight, but I know at that point I'll want to tone up. I'd love to participate in Tough Mudder and hit the top 5% for time, but I've got a ways to go! Currently, I do workout throughout the week, but I'd like to get into a more routine .. well, routine. Actually designate days for muscle groups instead of doing whatever doesn't hurt on my body that day from the previous day's workout. Diet wise - needs improvement. I don't drink pop or any carbonated, sugar beverage. I eat red meat at least twice a week, and probably too many carbs. I've always wanted to try a gluten-free or Paleo approach, so this may help. I haven't had the chance to read the guide yet, as I'm at work on break and writing this immediately, but I've got high hopes that this'll be a great way to achieve my goals. Not sure where to start, what guild to consider, know little about the challenges, so any and all help would be fantastic! S.
  18. WELCOME! My name is TerosX and I'm about to start my 4th 6-week challenge. All are welcome to join witht he RPG Fanatics. Last group went great and I made some friends. Quick about me: I'm in my late 20's and I'm trying to go to school to become a therapist. I've looking into teaching as well. I've always wanted to help people be the best person they can be. I've had serious buots of depression for my entire life and I'm very socially awkward, but I'm not letting these things hold me back. I'm part of an overweight family that uses food as a crutch for everything- whether it's celebration, mourning, stress, boredom... everyone in my family is overweight. I was up to 360 pounds at one point but during these past few challenges I've dropped a few pants sizes (unsure of the actual #). Share your thoughts, your goals, or ask any questions. I'm more than happy to answer. TerosX(ME!)
