Hey guys, My name is Erin and I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I am 22 years old and have, in the past few years, gone on a bit of a roller coaster in my health/fitness life. I've tried a lot of things and fallen off many many wagons. I'm currently trying to convince myself that slower is better, that every healthy choice helps, and that consistence and persistence are key. I would love to have a buddy I can text with my tiny milestones (I didn't eat a cupcake today! I went to sleep on time last night! I just walked an extra tram stop!) and who can text me back with encouragements and rallying cries to help me when I'm feeling down or losing my determination. I would love to do the same for someone else in a similar situation, and would love someone in Australia so I can text you for free (I have a limited budget as I am a student and work in hospitality) Help me!

Hello and welcome, I do not know if there are any of these threads currently going, but I thought I would start one regardless. The point of this thread is for a base camp for those Australian Nerd Fitness Rebels. There are probably more of us in your home city than you are aware of....... Use this a point of reference to find people in you are who maybe training for a similar event, a similar goal or are just looking for some one to train with or share information and gain knowledge and wisdom. Share you goals, ambitions and dreams with us, so that we can join you on your journey and make sure you find your way there. Feel like you are about to fall of the wagon, come talk to us, tell us where you are and how much you have accomplished and what is standing in your way and we will be there to motivate, inspire, lend a helping hand and a word or two of encouragement. We are all here because we have a common interest. We are all like minded people with the same drive and determination in both health, fitness and those slightly obscure hobbies and interests. Introduce your self and what your current achievements are and what you are training towards. I will get the ball rolling by introducing myself in the next post.

Hi to everyone at Nerd Fitness! I came across this website yesterday and decided to give Paleo a shot from now until the end of July. I already work our fairly regularly but want to "level up", hence the diet overhaul. I'm not going to lie, it's a challenge but I can feel the change in my energy levels after only a day so I'm pretty excited. However, I do have one issue with the online Paleo community which I want to share here. Whenever I do a basic search for recipes most of those I find are basically complicated substitutes for foods that we are not meant to eat. E.g.: tapioca flour muffins, "cheesecake" made with blended cashews, etc. I don't know about you, but I think that using more than a dozen (expensive) ingredients to make a paleo-friendly cupcake is kind of missing the whole point of this diet. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of fantastic information to be found on the internet about this lifestyle (hence joining NF!) however it is disappointing how many recipes I find contain ingredients that I think should really be eaten in moderation. I mean, how many coconuts did these cavemen really eat? Has anyone here made started Paleo or made the same observation? Any tips/recommendations/links are most welcome, thanks ~ Jess
