  1. Please bear with me and feel free to correct me on the format of this, seeing as the rules have changed.... Main Quest: Enter and Finish True Grit South Australia 2014 True Grit came to my attention about 1 month into my fitness journey (so, about February this year). When I saw it, I knew it was for me. A 12km obstacle course along the Murray river! Yeah! I was disappointed I could not do it this year (too much too soon), but I'm planning to be able to do it next year. Mission 1: Get to a 12km run with a 8min/km pace. True Grit is a 12km obstacle course, and I need to be able to run 12 km. 8:30 min/km, from my reading, is the run pace that you need to keep up to if you don't want to be disqualified from a Running SA foot race (they close off the track at that pace). At the moment, I'm doing a 10 km running program, I'm currently up to 8 km, with an average pace of about 9 min/km. Of course, this is measured by a GPS running app on my phone, so I'm uncertian about the accuracy, and I run with the dog so I stop before crossing the road and get her to sit. So my precise running pace is unknown. The Adelaide city to bay fun run is the week after the challenge ends, so I will be able to put myself to the test convincingly after the challenge is over. A - 12km run with a 8 km/min pace B - 12km run with an 8.5 km/min pace C - 12km run D - 10km run F - Less than 10km run Mission 2: Lift half my body weight on the assisted pull up machine. For true grit, I'm gonna need to be able to lift my own body weight to get over the obstacles or else I will not be able to finish. I think pullups, as an exercise, are the perfect indicator of wether or not I'm ready to tackle this thing. At the moment, I weigh 92kg. I currently use a 55kg counter weight when I use the assisted pullup machine at the gym. So I'm lifting 40.2% of my body weight. To get to 50 percent I'll need to: Reduce my counter weight to 45kg, orReduce my weight to 74kg (maybe a bit too much of a challenge for this turn), orFind a happy medium (like 84kg weight and 50kg counter balance)A - 50% of my bodyweight B - 47.5% of my bodyweight C - 45% of my bodyweight D - 42.5% of my bodyweight F - Less than 42.5% of my bodyweight Mission 3: Get 8 hours sleep every night. I'm aware that to get healthier in general, (wether that be lose weight, gain muscle or avoid bugs) you need enough sleep. I don't get enough sleep at the moment. I go to bed too late (usually falling asleep while watching TV), and I waste a lot of daylight hitting the snooze button for a good hour+ (which is neither more sleep, cause it's broken every 10 minutes, or more stuff getting done). A clean, 8 hour sleep will help me perform better in all aspects of my life. A - 8 hours sleep every night B - An average of 8 hours sleep every night C - An average of 7.5 hours sleep every night D - An average of 7 hours sleep every night F - An average of less than 7 hours sleep every night Side Quest: Setup my shed! I want my shed to be a good place to store my tools AND a home gym. I can commit to the whole project because it will take money that I don't have right now, but I can commit to the following elements: Clean out the junkSetup some shelving for fitness stuff and toolsSetup pegboards on the wall for toolsPut up my boxing bag! (I bought it before I bought my own place, but my parents wouldn't let me put it up where I wanted it, so it's gathering dust at the moment)Fix the lightingA - 5 elements completed B - 4 elements completed C - 3 elements completed D - 2 elements completed E - Less than 2 elements completed.
