  1. Hello everyone! Many assassins will know me, because I have partaken in quite a few of their challenges. I haven't finished them all, and sometimes the 6 week challenges are hard for me to keep up. Which is why I want to try out a battlelog. When I'm not here, I miss you guys. But the challenges can give me a bit too much pressure. I still hope that I will once in a while participate in challenges, but for now a battlelog it is! Meow! What I will do in my battlelogs: Every Sunday/Monday I will give a summary of the previous week. The summary consists of all the activity I did (workouts, stretching, play time). It MAY contain how much fruit/vegetables I ate, I will try out how that works for me. Logging my food can get me back into obsessing too much about food and I don't want that. But I will just try to figure out what works for me! I am very happy to be back even though it's not in a challenge as per usual <3 Oh, and in case you guys wanted to know what inspired me to come back RIGHT NOW as opposed to every other time…. Two days ago I went poledancing with a friend. And all you crazy assassin friends that are into pole, or aerial, or circus… I get it. It finally COMPLETELY clicked. Playtime. It was SUCH fun! I need playtime. I need to make my body a hobby, do fun things..! I did a standard spin around the pole that I don't know the name of, and the fireman spin, and I even went upside down in what I think is the standard inversion, just kick your legs up basically. In the end I dared letting go of one hand even, and I was probably firmly enough in position to release the second but I didn't dare. But it was HUGE for me. Before the lesson I thought there was possibly no way that I would dare going upside down. But I talked to my friend (not about that concern per se) and she said the first thing that really helped her in poledancing was just DOING it not being scared because it really stagnates your progress. And I'm usually a wuss, but I decided not to be a wuss that day. Did I already mention how much I loved it?! It was SO MUCH FUN! I'm going to Paris, so I don't have the money and also there's no point starting lessons when I'll be leaving in a few months anyway… But when I get back I might have to get pole lessons! One day right?
  2. Sovellis

    High and Dry

"Sov, I think I am going about this all wrong. I have researched all I could and thought myself in spirals, but nothing is happening." She stood shifting from foot to foot, staring down at the table covered in crooked stacks of foolscap, dusty books, pinned scrolls, and spell paraphernalia. "I need to be *doing* things. I have come farthest with this curse when circumstances have pushed me into adventures." She smiled remembering olden days when circumstances were often named Sovellis. "Huh, I suppose that makes sense," he agreed, picking his head up off the table and rubbing his face. "So what do we do? Become sell swords and take a job or something? Or I suppose I could go insult a king and you could try to rescue me again, but that didn't work out so well last time." His lips twisted into a tired smirk. "Sweet gods, please no royalty! I was thinking more about taking a journey up into the fey wilds and seeing what we can find. Its possible some of the lines of the riddle are referring to places after all." His brows arched sharply at her words. "The fey wilds? Wait wait wait, so royalty is out, but fey are a-okay? Have you lost your mind? Besides, there's no good taverns in the fey wilds." He had managed to finish the wine he had brought back to the hut rather more quickly than he planned, and the thought of not being able to replenish his stock was unpleasant to say the least. "I can hardly go to a tavern as I am anyhow." She cocked an eyebrow and motioned to her giant proportions. "besides, you can easily do without wine- you can prestidigitate your water if you miss it. Wine and trails do not mix unless you are a construct like Flotsam. No one needs to walk for hours with a hangover." "Prestidigitation only flavors the water," he grumbled, but she had a point. "As to the rest..." She crossed the cabin to the wall where the words of her curse were etched. "I don't know how to master fey magic. The only way I know to break through this is to go to a place where the fey are and ask them. Besides, you never know what we might find up in those mountains!" She grinned at him, the light of avarice shining in her eyes. "Heh, yeah, or what might try to eat us." Despite arguing, he smiled, happy to see that spark in his friend's eye. "So you plan to find a fey something, walk up to it, and just ask it? I'll admit that approach has worked for us before, but not with fey." "Well there was that Eagle that time, but no, I was thinking more that we would search for some of the things mentioned in the riddle Halfling's pride, Balefire, the rooftop Feydance, all of these seem to refer to acts I have to do or people I have to best. "Rooftop feydance sounds fun. Baelfire not so much." The thought it over for a moment, then shrugged. "Alright, I would still prefer to have access to taverns, but might do me some good. When do you want to take off?" "I want to be in the highlands by the end of the ride. As you can see, we are mostly provisioned already." She motioned to shelves in the cooking alcove now filled with the trail bars and jerkey made from all Noor's hunting. "You've been busy, that's for sure," he nodded, looking at the shelves full of trail foods. "And we have the supplies I brought, what's left of them anyway, so we have healing potions and things, and my quiver is full. I guess we should get packed." <------<<< Time for the next chapter in the Sovellis Saga! This challenge my goals are very similar to the last. 1. Do something school related every day, even if it's just a tiny thing. 2. Do something physical fitness related every day, even if it's just a tiny thing. 3. Do something adultish every day, be it chores, bills, making a phone call, whatever. 4. Do something related to spirituality every day. But this time around, all of these are going to play second fiddle to this last point: 5. No alcohol. None. For 6 weeks. I've done this sort of thing before, if not for this length of time, and I think it's time to do it again. Complete sobriety is not my ultimate goal, but going dry periodically seems to help me keep better control over my drinking habits, which have been slipping as of late. Not looking forward to the ups and downs I know are coming, but it'll be alright. I'll be alright. Between this and it finally starting to cool off, maybe I'll finally be able to make it back to the range or go slack lining again!

I do: amateur gymnasticshand balancingclimbingweightliftingbodyweight exercisesslackliningWhile motionless I work as a software developer, compose piano music and listen to metal. This challenge: my aim is to create a training sampler video that demonstrates lots of the stuff I've been working on this year. To do this, I'll need to: collect videos of various thingspractise some skills to get them as good as I can manageproduce the videoGoal #1: keep training: the main goal this challenge is to train many of the following list each week. For some of them I can count two sessions per week if i do them. There are 23 listed in total. Stat points will be awarded as follows: 6 or more: +0.25 DEX 8 or more: +0.25 STR10 or more: +0.25 WIS12 or more: +0.25 DEX14 or more: +0.25 WIS16 or more: +0.25 STRExplosive push-ups: [plus second session] I've been working lots on clapping push-ups recently, so now I want to experiment with some more advanced variations. Muscle-ups: [plus second session] On the gymnastics rings I can do these, but I want them to look prettier so I need to build strength for the transition. I also want to learn ring forward rolls and bar muscle-ups, which will benefit from and count towards this training. Weighted pull-ups: [plus second session] Currently I can lift over 31kg (68#) on pull-ups, and want to get even stronger. An extended session on 1-arm rows or similar will also count for this. Backflips: [plus second session] I can just about do these onto soft surfaces, and I've conquered some of the fear issues involved, so the next steps are to improve them and get used to doing them on scarier surfaces. Handstands against wall: [plus second session] I don't do these enough but they do help me Freestanding handstands: [plus second session] Currently I balance for 5 seconds if I'm lucky. I'm making slow progress and should continue. Handstand walking: [plus second session] I can walk on my hands quite well, and want to learn to control my direction rather than just walk to prevent me from falling over Levers - front and back: such as this [plus second session] - I need to increase my shoulder strength for this. Slacklining: My friend has a line and there's a circus group who have open sessions, so I should make use of these opportunities much more Hopak dance - jumping: hopak is a style of Ukrainian dance involving some crazy acrobatics that I'd like to learn. This item is for the jumping moves. Hopak dance - windmills: this item is for the move at 1:50 in the video above Hopak dance - cossack squats: this item is for the item at 0:00 in the video above Tricking kicks: jump high, spin around, and have a reasonably aesthetic kick in the middle! Like this. I've only tried these once so I'm interested to see how they'll progress. Anything else **new** that might be worth including in the sampler: [plus second new item] watch this space ...that should cover everything Goal #2: collect videos: to ensure I record some good material for the video, I'm going to record at least one thing every week to a quality that I consider worthy of inclusion to the final product. As I want to keep the last week free for creating the video, The 6 weeks will be weeks 0-5. +2 CHA is available, and I'll award: grade A: 6 weeksgrade B: 5 weeksgrade C: 4 weeksgrade D: 3 weeksGoal #3: sleep early: I keep sleeping too late. I'll arrange something for 4 daysplan more holidays: actually make that 7 daysplan even more holidays: actually make that 10 days. Nice problem to have I know, but it needs to get fixed.+0.50 CHA for each. Hope this will be an enjoyable challenge both for me and for everyone reading. 4. Lilith Level 3 assassin kitten (not yet a Cat, Tiger, or...) After the scary dog was gone, sadly not defeated by Lilith but by the humans (something something dog ate the birthday cake), Lilith felt a little bit fed up with adventures. They are fun, sure, but only when they are crushed by her lovely fluffy kitten paws. This kitty didn't like being defeated, and thus thought she'd spend some quality kitten time purring, and testing out the best places to nap. An important conclusion she reached: anywhere is fine. Napping is the best! As the weather outside got better, the humans left the portal (through which the dog had one day entered) open more often. Her mum also went through the portal - and back (which was sort of reassuring). So one day little Lilith decided to go through the portal, to a world of new scents and sounds and tastes. The grass felt nice beneath her paws, the sunlight warmed her in a way that made her a little bit sleepy.... Who was that?! A cat, definitely not a kitten. Definitely someone she had NEVER seen before. "Meowmeow! I startled you, didn't I?" Lilith tried to shrug it off, which was hard because her tail looked like it had recently exploded. "Prrrrr don't be afraid! I heard rumors of a promising litter here... Maybe you have what it takes! " Lilith was confused, she was sure she had everything it takes but the question was more... what for? So she asked. "It's so mysterious and secret I can't tell you before I find you worthy... Here is what you need to do...." ..... Lilith was back through the portal, to the warm fuzzy inside. The encounter had done one thing for sure: she didn't feel like napping anymore! Instead, she wanted to prove her worth! So she would have to get right on her kitten skills and flexibility training! Main goal: get fit, flexible, and awesome! (and impress the mysterious cat) Goal 1: Flexibility I want to work on my flexibility, mobility, whatever, stuff like that! I will specifically work on improving those three poses: - Front split - Side split - Bridge All yoga and mobility work I do will count towards this goal, because I find that every possible stretch I can do will have a positive effect on at least one of those poses! So I'm all set and ready to go! Oh yes wait, grading. I will grade this based on a subjective grade per week (average of all 6 weeks counts) on my effort towards this goal. No 'x times per week requirement' I want to fuel this with my own motivation, not with 'obligations'. The second part of the grading will be done by you! I have before photos and a video in the spoiler tag, I will do it again at the end. Fun, yay! Goal 2: Workout 3-5 times a week! Most often bodyweight based workouts, but also climbing and the occasional weight thrown in. Might also go running or race cycling. Anyway, you will just have to wait and see! Grading: within the range is A, 2 times a week is C, 1 time a week is F. Goal 3: Handstand practice (at least 2 times a week)! At least 2 sessions of 5 minutes a week. (This is an A) I know, it's not much, I actually want to do more, but I'm lowballing this challenge because consistency is more important than really impressive goals I think! I am now at: wall handstand, hands about one meter from the wall, being able to hold for about 5 breaths. Next level: wall handstand 30 cm from wall, being able to hold for at least a minute Bonus goal! Record any other activity I do. Like hiking, slacklining, all the fun stuff that isn't part of the challenge, won't be graded, but I'm GOING to have bragging rights for it. Btw any feedback or help on achieving any of those goals (most notably the flexibility one on how to improve my poses) are very welcome!
