  1. "You should give up... on me giving up!" Time to get serious. Ok, really, time to find a way to get to the point where I never have to say 'time to get serious' again. I have had success in the past getting healthy; getting to a good athletic weight, getting strong, eating clean, being awesome. Something always derails me at some point, I slip, backslide, get stressed, get frustrated - something! And then I start giving up. No more giving up. Naruto doesn't give up. From now on , neither does Starpuck!! Itadakimasu "What I like is ramen, especially the kind at the Ichiraku Ramen shop. What I dislike is the three minute wait after you pour in the boiling water. My hobbies are eating ramen." -Naruto Eating. Things that worked? Eating clean, in reasonable portions and exercising. What didn't? Counting calories, points, macros, denying certain foods. How the hell do I grade this? Simple. Naruto loves eating, but he also works his butt off. He eats enough to keep him fueled, but doesn't spend his sad, angry, emotional, bored moments eating more. Bottom line, I know if I've had a sensible eating day or not. So the target is to have only 1 non-sensible eat days per week. Or, reverse that, 6 sensible days per week. If I am mowing the lawn, running a 5k and playing hockey? Guess what? A milkshake isn't so crazy on that day. Having one after Mcdonalds breakfast, tacos, chips, salsa and candy bars? Different story. GOAL #1 EAT SENSIBLE 6 DAYS PER WEEK Training Time "Let's sweat our young sweat together!" - Rock Lee Honestly, exercise is the easy part. Only difference is this time around there will be no 'I have to do this' or it 'must be this workout on this day'. Just move. Every day. Except for one. One day to rest and recoup. Vary the workouts. Hockey, running, boxing, strength training ... hell get some yoga in there because you're stiff as a board Starpuck. But move and sweat 6 days a week. GOAL #2 MOVE YOUR BODY 6 DAYS A WEEK Curb your Kyuubi "Hey Nine-Tails, I wanna get rid of all that hate of yours someday!" - Naruto Lately, I've been finding myself more prone to bad moods, snapping on people, being grouchy and otherwise in a funk. I don't like it. I don't want to be that way. I need to find a way to cool that rage-beast down inside of me. (Not that I even know where it came from.) I need to get back on a better path with my faith. I've put church and study aside for other things just because it's summer. Granted, sometimes I won't be able to make a Sunday service, but I need to get my nose into things that are working to fill up the tank of goodness, rather than just keep depleting it until I turn into a nine-tailed demon fox. GOAL #3 CHURCH OR CHURCH ALTERNATIVE AT LEAST 1X A WEEK Ok, there's a few more things to tack on here, but it will have To Be Continued ... I need to bolt!
  2. "The worst thing you can do right now is underestimate Hydra. They hide in plain sight; they earn our trust, our sympathy. They make us like them, and when you hesitate, they strike. If we're to survive, we must learn to strike first." "My" Hydra The bad habits, excuses and temptations that lead to a careless, negative attitude that bends me toward a path I do not want to follow. "My" SHIELD Strength - Retrain my strength.Health - Relearn my healthy habits.Independence - Regain my self confidence by stepping out of my comfort zone.Energy - Control my energy level, rather than let my energy level control me.Love - Learn to love myself again, and start loving those around me better.Discipline - Push through the tough times and temptations. It won't always be easy, but it will be worth it. Hydra has come out of the shadows and into the light. Cut off one head and two regrow to take its place. In short? I had several very successful challenges and, over the course of last summer, got myself to a place of health, confidence and happiness. I thought I had managed to defeat my enemies. I had "cut the head" off of some of my hang ups. And now, after a hard winter and a loss of motivation, I find them replaced with two more where once there was none. SHIELD has been toppled. What do we do now? We survive and we rebuild. 3. Good starts, great intentions, and well made plans are all what pave the road to hell, and that is right where my last 6 week challenge went. Between bad eating choices, working to many hours, stress from job interviews and the like I just didn't care. However, I am back and ready to make it happen! I need to train for my spartan race in November. My goal is to beat 45 minutes, which as far as I can tell is about the average. “FORM UP MAGGOTS! INSPECTION!†The drill sergeant’s voice booms from the open door way. Terrified new recruits throw themselves forward, forming up at the foot of the beds, back straight, eyes forward, sweat forming on their brows. Anxiously awaiting their first inspection, the new recruits of the Systems Alliance Military, many are shifting their weight from foot to foot, not sure of how to deal with the suspense . “EYES FORWARD! ATENT. HUT!†The voice bellows again, THUMP.THUMP. THUMP. Fearing to look away anywhere but straight ahead, private pwallace find him staring at a fellow private. The name on her fatigues says starpuck. A little shorter than him, and a few year older, Starpuck gazed back with a cool steady stare. ‘She looks like she could handle a krogan. Granted it would have to be a small young krogan but DAMN! Remind m not mess with her.’ Pwallace thinks, attempting to get his mind off of the impending screaming that is about to happen. “YOU CALL THIS A MADE BUNK MAGGOT! DROP DOWN AND GIVE ONE HUNDRED!†The Private 4 bunks down from pwallace drops to the floor. Risking a quick glance, Pwallace turns his head just a small amount to see what the owner of this fearsome voice looks like. Not one but 5 officers stand in between the two rows of Privates. “ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR! FIVE! SIX….FROM THE BEGINNING YOUR FORM IS CRAP! ONE! TWO! THREE!†Roars the Human officer standing at about 6 feet tall and every inch of him intimidating. Flanking him are a Turian and a Krogan, both silently watching the private struggle to keep up with the count. Behind them, barely visible, stand a Solarian and an Asari. Pwallace had heard tales of the Asari and their intimate social habits, but the Asari standing with the officers made him doubt what he had heard of the dancing girls at the bars. This Asari seemed to be even more terrifying than the Human. Slight of build and shorter than Pwallace, she moved with a deadly grace that told anyone looking she had seen many battles and more men die. “Excuse me major, but it would appear that those two down the line seem to think they don’t have to follow your directions.†The Turian says, in a normal tone but loud enough for everyone in the barracks to hear. Snapping his head back around, Pwallace sees Starpuck looking at him, fear dancing in her eyes. ‘She must have been looking too. Aw Hell! This is it. We are done. I am going to be kicked out because I couldn’t follow one stupid order. I will never make it to a N7 now!’ Pwallace chastises himself THUMP. THUMP. THUMP. “PWALLACE! STARPUCK! FRONT AND CENTER!†The Major screams, spittle flying into the air. Stepping forward, Pwallace can feel his knees shaking and sees a new sheen of sweat breaking out on Starpucks forehead. "YOU HAVE JUST VOLUNTEERED FOR THE N7 STREAMLINE PROGRAM! STARTING MONDAY, YOU WILL TRAIN AND BE TRAINED IN THE WAYS OF OUR ALIEN ALLIES TO ENHANCE YOUR SKILLS IN LIFE AND IN THE BATTLEFIELD, LEADING TO A MORE ROUNDED SOLDIER. THE CITADEL IS PUTTING THIS INTO PLACE DUE TO THE CONSTANT REAPER THREATS." Strong like a Krogan -work out atleast 3x a week (strength training or cardio) Efficient likea Solarian - Get house work done 3x a week (cleaning or organizing) Sensual like an Asari - Do something with the "significant other" atleast 1x a week Eat like a Turian~ Eat Paleo atleast 4x a week ( I will end up haveing wednesday evening, thursday, and friday off with the fiance so on those days I will have 1 meal that I can eat that is not paleo.)
