  1. Greetings fellow Rangers! This will be my first challenge in the Rangers guild, and I am so super stoked to get started and crush my goals. My previous challenge was in the Warriors guild where I concentrated mainly on strength, but I would like to broaden myself during this challenge and really push myself to the next level. I feel like I am ready to take on this strenuous quest where I will be faced with a daily challenge to reach my ultimate goals and defeat the demons that lurk within my body. I will fight and burn the caloric lunatics who re-spawns themselves before each sunrise only to be defeated by me once again! I will travel the distances to reach my nemesis, the raged fat demon, and destroy the hateful creature one centimeter at a time! My most trusty weapons of destruction? - Dumbbells of Fire - Wizard's 2 Handed Barbell - Stamina Running Boots QUEST: DEFEAT THE FAT DEMON OBJECTIVE: Weight training 4 times a week. OBJECTIVE: Walk 10 000 steps every week day, and at least 8 000 steps on Saturdays and Sundays. QUEST: DEFEAT THE CALORIC LUNATICS OBJECTIVE: Burn 2200 calories a day during the week, and at least 1800 calories over the weekends. OBJECTIVE: Exercise for at least 60 mins all together (weight training and/or walking/jogging) each day during the week. I will journey far and fight hard, but I will defeat these demons and succeed in completing these quests!
  2. After dusting off the cobwebs from my workout gear for the last challenge and taking some necessary downtime during the holidays, I'm ready to get back into the swing of things this year because I've got goals, baby! Lots of goals! Even though I am a budding scholar, I need to be SMART with my goals (and short(er) with my posts), so I'm going to break it down real simple with reference to my previous challenge thread: Main Quest is still the same as the last challenge in terms of body and mind: Body, with the added motivation to be ready for a debate team reunion I have in late April; mind, with the hope that I'll be close to finishing up this damn dissertation already. Quest One: Do Bodyweight Brigade Level 2 (A and B, 3 to 4 times a week as cycled) or 21 workouts total. A = +3 STR, +2 CHA; B = +2 STR, +1 CHA; C = +1 STR, +.5 CHA Quest Two: Interval run (following Steve's recommendations, of course) at least twice a week or at least 12 times total. A = +3 DEX, +2 STA; B = +2 DEX, +1 STA; C = +1 DEX, +.5 STA Quest Three: Write a page and a half for my dissertation at least six days of the week—regardless of how good it is—and edit it the next day. Approximately 54-63 pages total (or roughly two dissertation chapters). A = +5 WIS; B = +4 WIS; C = +3 WIS I'm not doing any life quests this time around, but I will participate in any side quests that are running/biking/cardio related with the Scouts. I am (or was, more so) an avid runner, so I think I'll fit in nicely with the Scouts for this challenge. I'm excited to be more involved here and to connect with many of you! Now...time to wear the tread down on these running shoes so I can justify buying a new pair for the new year! Let's kick it off right! I'm hyped!!
  3. Tamzilla sits haphazardly on the ground, nibbling some sort of green vegetable. She's feeling a little worn, a little tired from the journey. Despite having successfully overcome the mighty 3 Cs, she doesn't feel like a triumphant victor. Leaning back on her elbow, Tamzilla sighs loudly and mutters, "My progress has been way too slow. I should be much farther down the path by now." Tamzilla flips open her journal to re-read some of her previous entries, and her eyes fasten upon one line surrounded by drawings of stars, hearts, and little swirlie lines: "You may feel like you're going slow, but you're still doing laps around those still sitting on the couch." Tamzilla sighs again, hikes herself up off the ground, dusts herself off and puts her foot to the path once more... Goal #1 - Deafeat the Sludgies! (+2 STR, +2 STA) I've been keeping track of my carb intake (as well as protein), and want to keep on that, but take it a step further by alternating the limit now and again. I am not prepared to start with lower carbs in Week 1, but that doesn't mean I can't do it Week 2! Also, Saturdays will not count, but I will not go above 150 grams of carbs on Saturdays, either. Plan: Week 1: 100 carbs max Week 2: 60 carbs max Week 3: 100 carbs max Week 4: 60 carbs max Week 5: 100 carbs max Week 6: 60 carbs max A = perfectly done B = 1-3 days of missing my goal C = 4-5 days of missing my goal F = another more than 5 Goal #2 - Three servings of fruits and/or veggies every day. (+2 CON, +1 WIS) Easy enough! As long as I make sure to have plenty of them hanging around, this should be easy. The more challenging part will be incorporating veggies into breakfast time! A = perfectly done B = 1-2 missed servings C = 3 - 4 missed servings F = more than four missed servings Goal #3 - Lose ten more pounds (+2 DEX, +1 CHA, +1 STR) I've had this issues with "weekend shenanigans" where I eat a little more than I should, and end up having to work a little harder to make progress in general. Wasn't always super awful, but enough to be frustrating! I believe my other two goals have set me up to do this, no problem! Will keep working out as I have been too! Life Goal - Seriously, get the darn book ready! (+3 WIS, +1 CHA) This time, I'm going to make the goal: Get the book in the hands of the one who will do the final proofreading, which means I must get the intro done, and then get it to them! After that, I really have no control over how long they take to do the proofreading. Whew!
  4. Hey everyone, I'm back from the dead. The new challenge guidelines are... interesting to say the least. So here's to the next six weeks. (And Wolve, I stole your goal layout. ) MAIN QUEST Get back on the path of becoming a Parkour beast. GOALS Flexibility Stretching, light yoga or beginner's body contorting every day to limber up and improve my flexibility. (No, I'm NOT having a secret affair with the Druids... okay, maybe a little.) Body Weight Training Basic body weight training and at LEAST four days a week. Endurance Running at least twice a week. Not as much as I used to do, but there's a lot going on in my life for now. Life Goal- Juggle This might seem a bit off, but there's a method to this madness. I have no idea what I want to do with my life, but one option is that I've seriously considered joining the circus. I know, right? So, it might be a good idea if I learn a few marketable skills, like juggling. So I want to be able to juggle three balls, or at least be well on my way, by the end of the challenge. Just to find something to juggle...No Diet/Fitness Goal for me. STARTING STATS Height: 5'2" Weight: 145 lbs (approx.) Chest: -- Waist: --Motivation I want to amaze someone. Anyone. I want them to see me do something out of the ordinary and be inspired to exceed their own limitations.
  5. I'm trying to write a job application and plan my lessons for tomorrow, so I will come back to this and edit it to be 1) less dull and 2) much more detailed! Goal 1 - Training Get back to doing some ass-kicking! Train at least once per week with a club. Goal 2 - Pow Follow a modified version of the Daniel Craig / Casino Royale workout, as featured on the site. I'm leaving out the 'C' workout on Wednesdays in favour of kicking things. Goal 3 - Sweat Continuation of previous goals. Include cardio - separate workouts or after the 'Bond' workouts. Life goal Do something with friends once per week. Cook for them, talk on the phone, see a film, walks in the park, visit a museum... anything!
  6. The innkeeper takes one short glance at the rumpled parchment in your hand, spit's noisily into a dishcloth and gestures you, somehow only using his shoulder and a grunting noise, towards a jaunty fellow playing the lute in the corner of the tavern. "'Assim" he mumbles, to which you nod and begin to turn. "Ain' Free" he slurs again, and points down at the wanted poster on your hand, listing a sizeable reward. You flip the slimy man a silver mark and move towards your target. His fingers move at breakneck speed along the lute's strings, a veritable thunderstorm of noise is somehow coming out of a mystical black box he has one foot planted on as he leans into the light of the fire. He's got a dented Roman helmet upturned in front of him, holding a few copper pieces that most people are led to believe he placed there himself. You walk towards him, reaching for the thick cudgel at your waist. The thunderstorm crescendos upwards in pitch, becoming almost blinding in intensity, he seems fully focused, and you take the chance to position yourself for the perfect K.O. A Slightly Pointed Lute enters your vision at high speed and everything goes black. I'm on the run! Things were finally looking up as my music career took off, but it looks like our old friend 'The Law' has put a price on my head! Fleeing through the town, I notice roving bands of mercenaries holding wanted posters with my face on it, A group notices me, and I split left across the bridge out of town, only to see the other side, blocked by a number of shady looking armed folk. Diving off the bridge into the river I swim for my life. Looks like the ground is pretty much off limits to me for the moment. I'll need to keep swimming if I'm to stay a free man! Living off the land isn't going to be easy. I'll need to carefully monitor my food if I'm going to have enough strength to escape the guards! But why are they chasing me? I'll definitely need to put a lot of work into learning why I've suddenly become a wanted man. Maybe the local school will shed some light on the situation. In any case, these wanted posters are serious, a skilled artist might be able to forge enough to fool people into looking for someone else. ------------------- Hi guys! back in town for challenge number tres! [bONUS] Practice pullups in the park on the way back from uni. 3+ STR 1+ STA Monitor calorie intake daily and report weekly 2+ CON 1+WIS Attend all of my lectures and tutes. 3+ WIS 1+ CHA Practice drawing, I got into it a fair bit last year and then just kinda stopped.
