I was just thinking... hazard, are you doing this with or without shoes? and if it's with shoes have you worn through the soles yet?

 Not yet.  My last pair of these shoes made it about 9 months.  Not bad for $15.

Wow, so much walking!  Reminds me of my big city days when I would do similarly epic walks... those days are over.  I still cover a lot of miles, but it's on my ass in a car.

That's one thing I envy about bigger cities.  Most have decent sidewalks.  I loved my visit to D.C. last decade in part for that reason.  I parked the car when we arrived, didn't touch it again until we left.

I walked 13.56 miles.  Our Fellowship has climbed Hollin Ridge, a western outlier of the Misty Mountains that marked the northern border of the long lost Elven kingdom of Eregion, also known as Hollin.  We planned to spend the night here but we were overflown by large flocks of crows, which may be servants of Saruman.  We therefore continued walking on further today than planned, striking out southeast toward the mountain pass, and found a more secluded place to camp.
