A police state, divided into paramilitary zones, rules with an iron hand. Television is controlled by the state and a sadistic gameshow called "The Running Man" has become the most popular program in history. No dissent is tolerated and yet a small resistance movement has managed to survive underground..... IT'S TIME TO START RUNNING! I have a half marathon in 10 weeks, so I'm currently two weeks into a half marathon training plan. The plan has me running 4-5 times a week, which is taking some getting used to. So I'm gamifying this challenge, and what better theme for a running challenge than the ultimate 80's Arnie movie (this challenge suddenly feels very @DJtrippyT-esque). Game Rules Each of my goals has a points value. Every week, I'll face off against a different stalker in the Running Man area and my fate will depend on how many points I've earned during the week Points allocation: Running = 5 points Lifting & Climbing = 3 points each Grip, Core, Domestic Rangering, Self Care = 2 points each 28+ points: Kill the stalker and escape the game zone unharmed20-27 points: Injure the stalker and escape the game zone but sustain an minor injury in the process10-19 points: Get injured by the stalker but narrowly escape the game zone0-9 points: Get killed by the Stalker. Game Over! The points are stacked in favor of running so missing even one run a week will result in a poorer result in the area. If I get killed by the stalker, I can respawn once but if I die again it's game over! We have a TV station over here that has this, Total Recall and Kindergarden Cop on constant rotation! I looked up the synopsis of the book after posting and I can see what you mean! It does sound like a good story and probably would work well if they remade it and followed the book more. It wouldn't feel like they were ruining the original movie either. With IT being remade, Den Of Geek are doing look backs on Stephen King adaptations at the moment. I agree that King's stuff doesn't translate well to the movies. You could probably say the for Phillip K Dick stories. The adaptations that are the most successful are ones that don't stick to the original story. I had to go food shopping anyway so at least that was a reasonable excuse to not lift and I didn't just end up slumped on the couch. Random CBT thoughts below Spoiler So far I'm finding the sessions frustrating as it doesn't feel like anything is actually happening except me getting more anxious! I did say this to the counselor and I was very honest with her in saying that I felt like she was expecting me to give specific answers that I just didn't have. Her response put my mind at rest on this and so I didn't focus on it so much afterwards, but the session did leave me feeling emotionally drained. I'm a little anxious at the moment as I have a party this weekend that I'm stressing about. It's a Murder Mystery night at a hotel. So we have dinner and the murder mystery happens around us. I know, this sounds great, but there are 2 things about the night that are stressing me out. The first is the word "interactive" on the information email that came though after we booked it. I hate things where you are forced to participate, so if any of the actors come up to our table and try to get me involved, I'm probably going to crawl under the table and refuse to come out! The second thing is the period dress that we weren't told about by the person who's birthday it is until after it was booked! It's 1920's glamour - so flappers and dappers, Gatsby type thing. I like a bit of cosplay, but this is way out of my comfort zone. The dresses of that period really don't suit me and I'm never really comfortable in a dress. I'm also having to spend ages looking up YouTube tutorials on how to do posh hair and make up techniques, because I am a completely useless girl who knows nothing about this sort of thing! Seriously, how do other girls know this kind of thing? Does it come naturally to them? Was I sick the day in Learn To Be A Girl school when they taught this stuff? Or does every other girl stress about it too and they are just really good at hiding it? I'm not worried that I won't look authentic, more that I literally don't know how to do anything with my hair other than the one style I rock daily! The one positive is that I have a hair cut in the afternoon before we leave, so I may be able to get the stylist to show me how to do something with it.
