I am SO DETERMINED to get both a pull up someday AND to get a solid straight legged straddle inversion in aerial so all my goals on this round are aimed specifically towards that. (I will still be squatting and push up ing and other strength training of course!) I also have a Spartan in December so running and working on jumping higher are also going to be important (that damn 9 foot wall plus my ridiculous shortness!)

 

GOALAS

(I accidentally typed it that way and I like it!  Hahaha. Also I think I just accidentally found a challenge theme haha)

GOALA 1 - Just Hangin:

Dead hang and bent arm hang from pull up bar at least 30 seconds per day COMBINED (changed this to 30 seconds combined when I remembered bent arm hangs are kind of hard sometimes!) Does not have to be in a row/ can be in sets, and on rest days I will likely do it as sets to avoid too much fatigue! I started doing this more often last challenge and HEY I was able to bent arm hang in a spin for at least 20 seconds in class the other day and really surprised myself. I want to keep  up with the gains in this area and increase my aerial endurance!

 

GOALA 2 - Pull up and core work:

Do pull up and core focused strength training 2 times per week (this is in addition to aerial class 1x per week)

 

GOALA 3 - Running!:

Run 2x per week. This is pretty self-explanatory

 

 

 

Life Goala 1 - Eyeshadow:

Wear eyeshadow 2 times per week. This means getting up at 6 and not 6:30 and thus why I NEVER WEAR my hoards of eyeshadow. But I really really want to! So this means I have to get up early. Plan is to have tentative idea of what I plan to wear the next day so I can plot out color scheme for that the night before and not when I am half asleep at 6am. Also, a sub goal of this is DO NOT DARE BUY MORE because I don't even wear what I do have. I have a definite issue with collecting all the pretty colors. Woops.

 

 

Life Goala 2 - Adulting!:

Clean at least 30 min per week and GET YOUR DAMN AC SET UP DAMMIT by the end of this challenge (so close! Floor is so clearer than ever before! Final push final push!)

I do a set of different things on my pull up bar at home (I don't always do all of these on the same days but sometimes I do! I always try to both do pull up and chin up grip for all of these!):

negative pull ups or chin ups  - jump up to the top position then lower yourself slowly. If I lower myself reaaaally slowly I might only do 1 per set but if I lower myself more quickly I'll do up to 5 in a set

assisted pull ups or chin ups - I have resistance bands but I know some people do the chair underneath and using 1-2 feet for assist depending on what you need. I have 3 resistance bands that I use all together, once I get to where I can do 6 in a set with all three bands I'll pull one of the thinner/smaller bands and start working on the now more difficult sets! It is REALLY hard for me to do assisted dead hang chin ups with full range of motion right now. I can only do 2 in a row and I can only do 1 assisted pull up sooo I have a while to go. I usually will do a set of these and then switch over to a set of negatives.

 

Sometimes if I am extra feeling like toast but I want to get in SOME work at least I will use the bands while doing the negatives which means I can do more reps of those and I avoid even trying to do the full dead hang assisted pulls. I also sometimes set my pull up bar lower and do a partial pull up from with my feet on the ground (so just doing the top of the pull up instead of dead hang. I think you can also jump up to do those maybe?

 

Also! Just hanging does help too!!

Also, will there be eyeshadow pics? I am a make-up lover and could always use eyeshadow inspiration - I always wear the same colors despite my eye makeup hoarding. 

 

I could do that! Maybe it will inspire me to actually keep up with this goal if I have to show and tell! :D

AUDITION TOMORROW. I HAS THE NERVOUS! BUT I CAN DO THE THING! 

 

Headshot printed. Theater resume printed. Need to mark up my copy of my audition song sheet music for the accompainest and practice like 80 million more times today buuut I think I am mostly prepped! 

 

Side yay: singing my audition song with just the recorded piano accompaniment actually went better than singing along with one of the versions with a singer I can find sooo I think that's a good sign!

Audition was mostly good and only mildly disastrous, which is OK with me considering it's my first musical audition ever pretty much. I should have edited my practice piano accompaniment track to skip the part I was planning to skip...because yeah I was so used to hearing it go into that part that I started singing it even though I'd crossed it out for the accompanist. She restarted for me on just the chorus which was the last part I had but I was nervous because I messed up AND I also had no lead in like I would have had I not messed up soooo chorus came out weird and pitchy. UGH.

 

We are supposed to hear back within the next few weeks. I'm guessing I won't get cast or that if I get cast it will be in ensemble/chorus. I have a bazillion years of dance experience so they may like me for that anyway. We'll see.

 

Challenge related:

I amended my "Just Hanging" goal to 30 seconds COMBINED hanging per day between bent arm/straight arm hang rather than 30 seconds each because bent arm hangs are kind of hard sometimes and I think it's going to be too much to do on my rest days.  I realized as I was working on my sets yesterday, a non rest day, that yeah that bent arm hang is a bitch. Hahahaha. (admittedly I was doing these in the middle of a set of pull up negatives or assisted pull ups. I'd get to the top then hang out there for 10 seconds or so.)

Also some musing, I wonder if my sloooow progress in pull up/chin up gains this time is because I am also doing a cut? Could be!

Hmm! Thinking! Last time I was seriously working on pull up progression stuff was a few years back so I can't remember the exact details of what I was doing but I was definitely NOT cutting back on calories or counting at all for that matter.  I have a much stronger base of muscle to begin with this time as far as my entire body so I wonder if the increased muscle mass over all + cut is just making it harder to gain in that area? I haven't weighed myself recently but a few months back I was actually about 10 lbs heavier than ever last time I did (although slimmer because yay muscles.) 

 

I've been stuck at 2 assisted chin ups, alllmost able to squeak out a third from dead hang (with bands) for MONTHS. I can just hang for longer though and my core stuff in general is getting stronger so at least I am making progress somewhere.

 

I debate if going back to lifting would help. I haven't been since my powerlifting trainer stopped working at my gym. (Thank goodness for pull up bar so I can get in a work out without going anywhere, but I need to get my stress levels down to where I have the energy to get myself out of the house to deal with the public on a weekend so I can make it to the gym!)  However, when I did have a solid 3 actual chin ups with no resistance bands I was not lifting yet or working on overall strength, just aerial.
