it's august! it's hectic! I'm going to have a big august that will need to be weekifIed, and can only be unified by the training I have to do for the 8K I am signing up for on the VERY LAST DAY OF THE CHALLENGE!

 

GOALS!

 

* Do the Hal Hidgon Running Thing - which also includes getting the movements in on the other days, too.

I'm following the HH 8K Novice program which I've done a few times before and like a lot. I'm already on week 7, what is this magicalness? out of a total of 8 weeks.... so this week I will do 7, next week 6, the following week 7, and then I'll have 8 the last week of the challenge / week of the 8K, right on schedule. the 8K is 9/9/17.

 

* GET THE PROTEINS. this is going to be tricky because I'm going to be on the road for all of or partial weeks 1-3. so.... this will take some work. I'm aiming for 120 g ish or as much as I can get over 100 without being a disaster pants. Simultaneously, STICK TO THE BUDGETS. hit up that calorie budget yo. you know what works good for you. try to do your very best because YOU KNOW THAT THERE WILL BE SLIPPAGE WITH ALL THE TRAVEL.

 

* WRITE THE THINGS DOWN and plan the things. This is super critical! I need to do this to meet goal #1, so it's kinda cheating. I'm ok with that. As my tkd instructor says - if you're not cheating you're not trying. Bonus planning points for reading up about strength training and prepping for convos with my dojo owner about deadlifting, because I'd like to give that a shot next month.

ALSO, I didn't write ANYTHING down in my hobobujo last challenge and that bums me out.

oooook. so it's day 2.

 

Day 1: SUNDAY. I had a 4 mile run, and it was just ok. it felt ROUGH, I think it was more humid than ideal. I dropped my pokemon in a few gyms and ran the whole way and finished in 40:20, so it wasn't TERRIBLE.

I did a great job cleaning out the fridge of extra veg from CSA - we had corn and zucchini fritters for dinner, and I made a big pot of veg stock, and we had beet greens in a fritatta for breakfast.

I also went to the orchard to get overambitious peaches to make overambitious jam with before our trip.

Did I mention we're leaving on Thursday AM early?

And I'm working hard before then?

And have TKD tuesday night?

and Wednesday night I am helping pack up our car / pack up Fourteen?

Yeah. overambitious jam.

sunday protein was the pits! 59 g only. I was just over calories, and didn''t eat back my exercise.

 

Day 2: MONDAY. ostensibly rest day! but I did go for a walk at lunch for 35 min and it was a VERY FAST WALK because my work friend and I were talking about THE STATE OF THINGS and that makes a girl walk really quickly.

I had acupuncture after work and she REALLY did some deep tissue work too, in my right bicep and my right hip. cupping was involved. I'm going to look like I wrestled an octopus at the beach next week. excellent.

then we had BLTs for dinner because OMG TOMATO SEASON.

protein at 112 g. ate just at calories.

omg you guys are the best. I laughed and laughed.

 

this week has been the hottest of messes.

Sunday and Monday were great!

but then Tuesday I woke up at 2AM panicked about a work thing, and I got up and did a bunch of other work things, and YO am SO TIRED.

I was going to run on tuesday, but it was raining and I was SO TIRED that I bagged out.

Tuesday was a lot of running around and I was late to TKD.

I did eat 122 g of protein, though, and ALSO ate too many calories (ate back all my exercise).

 

wednesday was .... just yesterday are you kidding me?

I slept ok, got up and ran my 3 mile run (and it was really good). I motorcycled to work, and had THE MOST HECTIC PRE VACATION DAY EVER. I didn't get nearly enough things done on my to do list but at least took care of the super urgent things (including the thing that was stressing me out at 2AM on tuesday morning, mostly).

I got home late (8ish) and went to work cooking.

I had 5 lbs of jalapenos and 4 1/2 lbs of cukes and some dill. So I made dill sandwich slices, and put the left over brine over sliced radishes with dill and garlic and stuck THAT in the fridge while I waterbathed the pickles. Then I made honey pickled jalapenos while also peeling and mashing 5 lbs of peaches to freeze for future jam. we had to go pick up my hsubands car, and i wrecked and then cleaned up the kitchen at least 4 x while I was cooking.

and THEN I had to finish packing my clothes for the beach.

 

So now I'm in OHIO which is not the beach but is the place where Eighteen is going to go to college. we got up at 5AM (another 3 and change hours of sleep night this week yuck) and I finished some laundry and blanched and froze a bag of green beans, and par-microwaved some corn ears and cut those cobs off and microwaved THEM. and there was also some mixed greens (chard, kale) and I cooked them for a bit and froze them too, and also shredded zucchini.  and we had to pack up the chuck wagon and the car, and drop the cat off at the boarders, and hit the road. this part of ohio is about 10 hours away from where we live, so it was a big day sitting in the car driving.

 

SO TIRED.

tomorrow I'm going to go for a run down the weird street our hotel is on and back again. I need my 2 miles! I brought my hula hoops, a bike, and a yoga mat with me.

 

ALSO today is my 5-year anniversary with my husband. We celebrated with ice cream sandwiches for breakfast, surprisingly delicious gas station indian food in central PA, and waffle house for dinner. this guy is the sweetest of all.

 

stats tho - no exercise today, 88 g protein (thanks for nothing ice cream sandwiches), over calories.
