The Springfield Nuclear plant is in danger!

It's up to the Ranger Corps to fix things. Sign up here for the mini challenge.

There will be four phases to the repairs, each phase will be revealed at the beginning of the week, we will work cooperatively as a team to hit a goal based on the activity that week to keep things from going critical.

Let's get to work!

Phase 1: Controlled PANIC

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

We are facing a core meltdown. Get everyone out!

Image result for simpsons panic gif

Ok people, we have to get ourselves and everyone out. For this week we need you doing Interval training. Let's HIIT this meltdown in the face! For those unfamiliar, interval training is doing something all out, 100%, for a set period of time, then resting, then doing it again. The vanilla option is of course sprints, but it can be anything, as long as you go all out. Every 30 second session counts as 1 interval. As a group we need to do 350 intervals. Log your score onto the Phase 1 section of the spreadsheet. For latecomers, this is a collective challenge, so jump in at any point during the week. I'm posting early, so for this week we will count anything from 12:01 AM your local time Sunday Morning till 11:59 PM (23:59) your local time on Saturday. It doesn't matter when in the week you get it done, log it. For those who find this after the week has started, if you have already done some intervals they can be counted.

Phase 2 Support

Image result for professor frink gif

Ok people, the situation is critical

Image result for simpsons nuclear plant gif

We need to strengthinate the supportulatrons to keep the situation from getting any worse.

Image result for professor frink gif

So for this week, we will be doing planks. Every second of a plank is a point for our team. Now there are a lot of variations on planks, and I have formulated the spreedseheetilator to account for this here. On the Phase 2 sheet of the spreadsheet I just linked, enter your total seconds of planks in the correct column.

Low Planks on your knees go in column B. As this is the least difficult variant, each second here will be worth half a second for the total (don't worry about doing the math, I formulated the spreadsheet to take care of that).

Here is an example of Low Plank on Knees

Image result for low plank on knees

Low Planks on your toes count for 3/4 of a second, and go in column C. They look like this:

Image result for low plank on toes

High Planks on your knees also count at 3/4 of a second, and go in column D. They Look like this:

Image result for low plank on knees

Regular planks are a 1:1 value, they go in column E

Image result for regular plank

Side planks count extra 1.25 seconds of credit, they go in Column F

Image result for side plank

The math is all automatic, just list your seconds done for each type of plank.

You have all of week 2 to get plank time in.

The goal is 5000 seconds for everyone.

Phase 3 Repair

Image result for frink gif

So, Glavin, we've strengthinated the suportulotrons to keep things from getting worse. Now it's time to fixinate the, glavin, brokulated things. We're going to do that with the power of our minds.

Image result for simpsons meditation gif

In all the work we do to repair our bodies, we must remember our minds need recovery as well.

Image result for simpsons meditation gif

So this week the task is meditation. We're going to do a very specific type of meditation. I want you to get a picture of your favorite animal. Watch this picture while you meditate. It's going to be very simple. Sit comfortably, clear your mind as best you can (don't take more than a few seconds on this step). And begin breathing calmly. On the inhale say to yourself "I am a healthy person." On the exhale say to yourself "I make healthy decisions." And that's it. Focus on those thoughts as you breath in and out, to the exclusion of everything else. Go as long as you can, and log the minutes of meditation into the spreadsheet. Don't grade yourself on how well you think you did, if you were trying, it counts. If you have to redirect your thoughts several times a minute, remember that redirection is a part of meditation. I recommend a combination of a stopwatch, just going as long as you can, and a timer, going till the timer goes off. Don't try too much too soon, it's not easy at first. We need 550 minutes as a group. Log in whole minutes please. They can be done anytime during week 3. You can still log things for the other two activities, provided you did them during the week where that was the activity.

Phase 4 (It's Not My Fault)

Our momentum from weeks 1 and 2 has covered our week 3. Now that the plant is mostly repaired, it's time for the search for the guilty and punishment of the innocent.

Image result for simpsons its not my fault

In order to protect ourselves, we need to push away the blame, so the task for this week is pushups. There will be modifiers again on the spreadsheet. If you do Incline Pushups (where your hands are higher than your feet) you'll get a .5 modifier. Knee pushups (hands and knees on the ground) get a .75 modifier. Regular pushups, (hands and feet on the ground) are 1 for 1. Decline Pushups (hands on the ground, Knees higher than feet) get a 1.25 modifier. We need 2000.

Funny story.  My father was in the Navy.  The trained him to operate the nuclear reactor that powers the submarines that help keep us safe from commies.  At least, back then it was commies.  After he got out of the Navy, he went to work for Illinois Power as a Control Room Operator at the nuclear power station in Clinton, Illinois, which is not that far from Springfield.  He was balding and significantly round in the middle.  My dad was Homer Simpson.

I grew up in Mansfield, but I've lived in Mahomet, Farmer City, and DeLand at different times.  I went to seven (7) different grade schools.  Which explains a lot about me.

Too funny.  I will have to pm you.  My parents from Heyworth and Miner.  Spent a lot of my youth there with grandparents.  I grew up west of Peoria but went to Illinois State and worked in various cities in Illinois at Bergner's and Carson's stores.
