Definitely the latter.  I'm glad you found a way that works for you though, even if it does take a few more steps.

Thanks! Happily, tonight, I found a way to grab the picture without having to scroll through every image on the page. It's still a few extra steps than you, but nowhere near as annoying as it had been!

@Hazard

Thanks for all the great work, a quick question/recommendation. I have a daily battle log thread, how to people combine that with 5 week challenges? Two threads? All in one thread? Some combo?

Hi Craftyviking.

The battle logs are a "do it your own way" zone.  If you have both a guild Challenge thread and a Battle Log, how much you integrate them with each other, and in what ways, is really up to you.  The Challenges have a recommend format, as laid out in the pinned Beginner Guidebook thread, but there's no particular recommended structure for the Battle Logs.

I'm going to try and build "an epic quest" to accompany the upcoming challenge.

Question:

How do you all organize your quest items?
For Example: If one of mine is meditate everyday... would I have to wait until the end of the challenge to mark it off?

I think I'd rather have things I could "check off" more often to get that sense of progress, but it seems that would require tons of quest items (like maybe a list for each week)?
That seems like overkill, but I'm afraid it would be too easy to just forget about the quest if there's nothing to mark off for 4-5 weeks.

Does that make sense?

Thanks!

I would rephrase it as "My goal is to build a habit of meditating". And then I'd break that down to something like "I'm going to meditate at least four days every week".

And then you can report in however often you like. If you report in daily, you can just say "Did I meditate today? Yes I did!" or "Did I meditate today? No I didn't :("

Or if you just want to report in weekly you could do "Meditation: ✔️✔️✔️✔️" for four meditation sessions that week. Also feel free to give extra points if you do more than four days one week  And maybe get yourself some loot at the end of the challenge if you have five stars or more, or whatever :)

It's all up to you how you want to lay it out :)

Hi Digdug.

Everyone is able to post quest updates on their personal Challenge thread as often as they want to.   That could be every day.  It could be weekly.  It could even be multiple times a day.   Reporting on how your quests are coming along is one of the main purposes of a personal Challenge thread.  We want you to be posting your progress regularly.  That is, as regularly as you find it helpful to do so.  Using your example, if you have a quest to meditate every day, you're could post in your Challenge thread every day to report that you completed that day's meditation.

Thanks so much for the feedback folks. I appreciate it.
And sure, I do understand about the separation of the two sides of the site, and I certainly plan to check in on the forums regularly.

Having said that I ALSO want to get some XP on my "Character Sheet" that exists on the other side of the site.

And THERE I'd like to have weekly things to check off.

(I would have asked the question on the Academy side of the house but I didn't see a way to do that)

For example here's what I did for the upcoming challenge... it's not a huge problem, but it was tedious.
It would have been super helpful to have the ability to duplicate quests lists in the "my epic quests" section, or set a quest list up as recurring.
(see Attached)

@Tobbe - this may make more clear what I was getting at earlier.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner @DigDug :(

I looked in to how that quest page worked, and a button to duplicate a questlist wouldn't be too difficult to do. But I'm sorry to say that I'm not going to do it myself. If you know some Javascript yourself, and you know your way around the Chrome devtools, I'd be happy to give you some pointers though :)

The easiest option for you would probably be to take that exact setup you have there, and run that as a challenge here on the forums. Then, at the end of the five weeks, you tally up your score and update your Character Sheet. So do the daily/weekly checking of boxes here on the forum, and then sync up with the Academy once every five weeks :)  Could that work?

I'm using a Mac laptop and safari to browse.

Click on your username in the top right corner of the screen.  On the dropdown menu that appears, choose Account Settings.  On the account settings page, choose Signature from the menu on the left side of the screen.   Once the signature text box page appears, type what you want for your signature into the text box and click the Save button.

One of the NerdFitness challenges is "Get an A on your 4 Week Challenge." I thought I'd read through the 4-week challenge material, but I didn't see anything about a grading system. Is there any particular rubric for what counts as an A?

That came from a defunct "Stat Leveling" system that used to be a thing years ago.  Here's the link to one of the old threads if you're interested in reading about it.

Hazard, When does the current challenge actually begin?  Is it June 21st or is that the beginning of the "off week"?  Also it says 5 week challenges..  Are challenges five weeks plus a rest week or are they 5 weeks inclusive of the rest week?  Just want to be in sync with others.

We're in the break week right now.  The challenge officially begins on June 21.

The challenge will run for 5 weeks starting from June 21.

If you already know what your current Main Quest is, and you've already picked out 2-3 subquests for this Challenge that support your main quest, then there's really no need for you to wait until June 21.  Go ahead and start your challenge now if you'd like to.

Hi Hazard!

Just curious, why were the stats discontinued? Were folks getting caught up in them?

Hi zeeko.  The forum stats-leveling game stopped being officially supported when NF introduced the Epic Character creator.  That character creator is currently free to use, but is also integrated with NF's various paid products (now combined under the "NF Prime" umbrella) for those who've purchased them.

So I think I am missing something super obvious - it's been a number of years since I've been here, and I never did complete my first challenge. What are the challenges - (is there a set we pick from on October 24th?) and as for Main Quests and Subs, do we just create them ourselves or is there somewhere we go to find these. I do apologize - I remember it making sense back when I was here before but I can't remember how to do this 😂

***Edit - I found Stacey's video about how to get started and see that some suggestions and such are here:

The site has changed a bit since 2014 so I was a bit lost. I think I've got it figured out now though! :D
