Weekend was pretty good! And it was better but I'm not 100% sure that I screwed it up yesterday running >_>

 

So yesterday was a fairly good day. I got all of my Sunday chores done, and I even got a run in. Though I did almost kill my ankle. It made a popping/cracking noise and if I hadn't been on a treadmill with something to grab I'd have collapsed. But nothing seems to be wrong otherwise so I'm just holding on to my brace in case I need it. I made dinner for my husband and I (parmesan encrusted tilapia, peas and carrots, and mashed potatoes). 

 

Today, on the other hand, hasn't been excellent so far. I woke up feeling absolutely awful. I'm so congested I can barely feel my face. And what I can feel is nothing but pain. I'm 200% done with the universe today. I'm considering going home but I'm already here. Ugh. Oh well. I think I've got some kind of cold. If it's worse tomorrow I'll work from home.

That dinner sounds totally amazing, omg.    Well except for the peas and carrots.  Those are my two least favorite veggies.  Throw me some brussel sprouts and asparagus, no worries... peas and carrots?  >.<

Those are some of my favorites xD I do like asparagus, but IDK about brussel sprouts >_> 

 

So I'm home sick today :/ But I'm a lot more productive than I was at the office yesterday. The meds my husband grabbed for me after he got off work were really helpful (though they're starting to wear off -_-) I got a lot of sleep last night, which helped a ton as well. I'm going to try to make a point to rest enough that I'm able to go into the office tomorrow. 

 

Currently, I'm eating a quiet lunch of canned soup. Chicken noodle. With Egg noodles. AKA the good stuff :) That's how my husband doctors regular chicken noodle, actually. Yumm <3

Well I'm finally starting to get over my cold. I mostly just have a cough and congestion left, I don't feel nearly as tired. I think tonight I'll go work out. Though I think instead of doing a full run, I'll go and ride the stationary bike and read for a while. Less intense, especially since I'll be at the state fair on Saturday.

 

Last night I made broccoli/chicken/rice/cheese thing. It's like a casserole for someone who's too hungry to let it become casserole-like. Or like when you want a casserole but don't have a casserole dish so you just mix the topping in amongst the food and continue (not that I did this with a shepherd's pie or anything...).

 

I've been making a point to try to take care of myself regularly. I haven't been overworking myself while sick and I'm just trying to practice self care to take care of myself <3

 

Also- good news! My husband got a new job!! He's now a corrections officer at the local regional jail. He's thrilled :) It'll make our lives a good bit easier.

So yesterday didn't go as planned :/ I ended up with my cold devolving into a hacking cough that was aggravating my asthma. It didn't seem like a good idea to go work out with my asthma giving me trouble. So I missed another workout. But I think being sick like that is a fair reason to be missing one.

 

Next challenge I'm going to up it to three workouts (it'll be easier b/c my husband will be on a different enough schedule that I'll get time to workout without feeling like I'm kinda ditching him even though he doesn't feel that way). I'm going to make it 2 strength workouts and a cardio. Focus a little more, start building up some strength :) I made up a couple of workouts that I can do that will help me build into a couple of movements that I'm excited about being able to do (pushups and pullups mostly) and ones that I already can do but love (squats). They're scalable too! I'll write them out here to see what people think.

 

Workout A

Warmup

5x5 Elevated pushup

5x5 dumbell rows/side (starting at like 10 lb dumbbells)

5x5 Bodyweight squats

5x1 Deadlift (probably just the bar with the smallest weights I can find)

Cooldown

 

Workout B

Warmup

5x5 Bench press with 2 10lb dumbbells

5x5 hollow rockers held for 10-15 secs (basically a way to build up core strength for pull ups. Kinda like a boat pose)

5x5 Bodyweight lunges/side

5x1 Deadlift (if anyone has another idea for what I can put here, let me know. I'm not 100% sure I should be deadlifting twice a week_

Cooldown

 

If anyone has some good warmup or cooldown routines or ideas, let me know!

So this weekend was interesting.


Saturday we saw my family on my mom's birthday at the state fair. We got a free tablet actually >_> Walked around a lot and enjoyed time with people I love <3 I unfortunately missed a stretch day on Friday so I missed one this challenge. Building habits takes time!

 

Sunday I did a LOT of chores. I was going to work out but my contacts were acting completely awful and my vision was acting up. I didn't eat very well, and I didn't get to the gym :/ But today is a new day and I'm going to get to the gym later tonight. I tried a few new things in regards to my lunch because I usually am SO hungry by the time I leave work. I'll see how they go.

I am joining you on the Today is a New Day wagon.   My weekend got wonky too.

I love fairs!  It's a tradition in my family but I haven't made it to one in a while...  and getting a free tablet?  Wow, super awesome that!   I have only ever wound up with a free flat broom or yardstick!

It happens every once and a while. I'm working on not letting it derail me ^_^ I believe in both of us, we can do it!

So I'm having more issues with my contacts. This is getting out of hand. I think I'm going to transition back over to my glasses on the daily and change into my contacts for working out and otherwise as needed. I can't deal with these headaches anymore.

 

My eye feels like it's got a needle stabbing through both it and the surrounding skull areas. I think it's related to dry eyes.

 

Maybe Lasik is an option for me...

 

In other news, no, I can't really work out tonight what with my contacts being obnoxious. I will try again tomorrow >_> Tuesday/thursday isn't too bad. I'll stretch tonight and work from there.

I've been wearing contacts for over 10 years at this point, but I think the constant use of a computer screen for work is drying out my eyes. That's the only really new thing >_>

 

So yesterday I set up a new bullet journal and it's beautiful <3 I spent a couple of happy hours setting up the entire month of October and some habit trackers. I'm so happy :) That was one of my self care things for this week. Bullet Journaling is so relaxing, and since I don't have such intricate to-do lists I can focus on other things in my journal. Right now I have an index (of course), an October habit tracker (with NF Challenge tracking), A "Year in Pixels" mood tracker,  an October month overview, and a daily October view. The month view has a doodled calendar, a quote, and important events. The individual has a to-do list/event tracker, a place to doodle the weather, and a spot to jot down three blessings from the day. My next page is going to be my fitness goals listed out. I also have a planned "home improvement" page.

 

I'm so excited!

 

I also did super well last night in regards to food. Instead of cooking, my husband decided he wanted pizza. So instead of overdoing it, I just ate until I felt comfortable. I'm actually really proud of myself for eating well. It was so late, I couldn't work out (plus the headache). So today is going to be the dinner and the workout. I'm definitely ready. I'm feeling better about my choices and my working out.

Oooh please share pics of your BuJo stuff, please please please?

 

Also - as a long time wearer of contacts... (I have one far sighted, one near sighted, double astigmatisms, so glasses would make my eyes look not the same size, haha) I don't know if this is stuff you guys already do, but, I've been told, my good fortune with contacts is rather unusual.

 

I'm an allergy sufferer, so I take Zyrtec and Nasacort daily.   I also wear my contacts from about 7:30am to 11:30pm.     I'm on the computer all day at work, and often all night at home.   The two things I do that I feel REALLY REALLY contributes to my success?

 

I am an avid water drinker.   Like 80oz / day.    And my only caffeinated drinks are a cup of coffee after breakfast and after lunch.

Fish oil supplements daily.

 

I don't know if that will help anyone else, but I super feel like it has been a big contributor to my doing so well with them.

I do drink a lot of water, but I've never taken fish oil. I'm a bad allergy sufferer as well. I take Claratin, Flonaise, and Atrovent (nasal spray) daily. I actually just cut out my excess caffeine haha

 

So yesterday was actually a bad day. My focus was completely gone all day and I was struggling at work. I got home and my husband had accidentally forgotten to make dinner like he'd said he would (not a major deal tbh, it happens) and it completely derailed me. I couldn't decide if I should focus on getting some better food for me (I am hardcore craving anything that isn't junk food) or if I should just get a quick meal of what we have and go work out. The uncertainty combined with my inability to focus yesterday had me completely freaked out. I literally laid down on my bed in my unlit room and listened to my meditation playlist for two hours before emerging to make food for the dog. I didn't even eat dinner for ages.

 

When I came out, my husband realized that no, I wasn't napping, I was having a really really rough day. After he realized that it wasn't going away, he made it his mission to make me smile again. Hugging me, encouraging me tell him what's wrong, and finally he dug a thing of M&Ms out of the pantry with "Here, chocolate makes everything better." Turns out not eating had me spiraling down further in the bad mood. Once I ate a few m&ms, I mentioned that I never ate dinner. So he cooked me up something quick at my request. And basically just spent time trying to cheer me up (he succeeded). So the day may have been awful but having someone who cares about me spend time to cheer me up made things better <3

 

Today I'm to remind him about dinner, and I'm definitely going to work out. Let's try this one more time- one day at a time.

Sorry you had a rough day. Sounds like your hubs is doing a good job of supporting you! And you're right. They key to any day, good or bad, is knowing that you start again fresh tomorrow.

Alright. So yesterday.. it was weird. I did the things I needed to do but it was AWFUL. We had homemade stir fry for dinner (which was tasty) but I was grumpy all evening and yelling at everything. And it was so hard to convince myself to go workout. I didn't do anything intense, just went and rode the stationary bike for a while. I just wasn't in a good mood. 

 

I wish I knew why it was so hard for me to go work out in the evenings. Like, I'm not that tired it doesn't seem like but working out is the last thing I want to do after work.

For the amount of people that have been grumpy, off and meh, I really think the changing of the seasons must be partially to blame.  I know for me it is for sure.     I also get the challenge level on evening workouts.   I know that I have a special blessing in that I can work out on my lunch hour, and eat my sandwich "on the clock" after that... if I didn't have that opportunity, my fitness game would have a totally different outcome.

 

Maybe/hopefully, if you get a few days of a streak under your belt on evening workouts, it will help fuel the momentum on it.   Or could finding something you find much more enjoyable work?    When I DID work out in the evenings, I was playing Dance games on my console.   Those I could get home, do for 45m and be done and move on to the next thing.

I only have half of an hour for lunch and a gym in my apartment, there's not much I can do there.

 

I'm hoping so, but between my ankle and being sick so much recently it's been hard to get a streak going. I really want to do some strength trainings, and such, I want to learn to be strong. I enjoy "Just Dance" even though I don't have a console for it- I usually just do them on my laptop though. Play the videos from YouTube and dance along. I used to do a lot of that but less so now. If I decide to get back into it, it'll help when we've got the spare bedroom back and can use it to work out in.
