... I don't know how your challenge has slipped out of my radar completely o__o I'm sorry!! But I'm here now for the final stretch :D

 

I'm sorry to hear you've been tired, but thankfully your husband sounds like a really good person :)  As for evening workouts... Could you save your harder workouts for weekend, when you can work out during the morning or the day, and spare the lighter ones for the days when you work out in the evening? Like, they can be challenging workouts, but it could make it easier to start if you knew that your workout won't be too tough. Maybe. I'm not sure if your problem is psychological or just physical - in both cases, though, it could be beneficial to do some energizing, lighter exercise :)

He's a sweetie <3 Sometimes I just get exhausted. It didn't help that we had a (rent-paying) friend living with us on a temporary basis and I think it was exhausting me. I am starting to recoup since he left and I think I was just struggling with that. I was needing a lot more alone time than normal anyway.

 

I can definitely save hard workouts for the weekend. However, I have a 9-5 job so I have the exact same hours. I don't think that getting up at the BCoD (butt crack of dawn) would really work for me. Especially as I'm not a morning person at all. I think the thing I need to do is find something I enjoy and be willing to swap things around. Basically I need to be more flexible.

 

I was sort of enjoying running but it's so hard to want to do it. I started doing bodyweight/weight training that's highly scalable to work up to some goals I've had, and I enjoy it a lot. The biggest downside I have to it is that it takes me a really long time to figure out how to handle my food intake. Muscle building makes me hungry and then I eat too much. Then again, me not feeling like I'm obligated to exercise for aesthetic reasons, that's less of a concern :)

 

Now that Mr. Right isn't landscaping anymore (and thus isn't carrying heavy things up and down hills all day and constantly outside), he promised we'd work out together. And he promised to start taking me hiking ^.^ I can't wait!

So I worked out last night, and last night's workout was a lot easier. So basically I leave the difficult workout for the weekend and the less difficult one for the weeknight. Fair enough :)

 

I'm finally getting to the point where I feel comfortable working out regularly.

Okay so I'm going to sit down and plan out my next challenge. 

 

First of all, I'm going to keep my working out 2x/week. I have only just gotten into feeling comfortable working out that often, and I wanna get that habit engrained before pushing it any further. I started strength training this challenge, and I love it! I always bail out on strength training even though it's what I always go back to. Usually I end up overdoing it and just.. skipping. I am so much more likely to be interested in doing that kind of workout than running. I even figured out that one of my workouts is lighter than the other. The lighter one is my weekday one, my harder one is the weekend (and thus more rest) one. 

 

I'm going to add one more stretching day to this. I've lost a lot of flexibility but I can slowly start bringing it back if I work hard enough. It's also relaxing and something that I can just do to make myself feel better on a bad day. Besides, flexibility will be useful if I end up taking that Pole Dancing class I wanna take ^_^

 

Cooking 2 meals a week. I'm going to leave this at two for the time being. I will probably increase it but I wanna keep this and see what my husband's new work schedule is gonna look like before changing things around so much. I'm starting to sort of enjoy cooking sometimes, but not always. I'm not very good at it, and I need very specific instructions. 

 

 Self Care is important too. I need to make a point to do nice things for myself. For sure. I don't take enough time to pamper and spoil myself. I'm going to keep this goal and make myself do better at it.

Today has been a rough day. The dress I wanted to wear today didn't want to zip and it sent me downhill emotionally. Like seriously downhill. The kind of downhill where I eat more than I need to because I'm so down/depressed. It wasn't a completely awful day in truth. I didn't do too badly. I had an extra snack/treat that I shouldn't have, but I guess on reflection it wasn't as bad as it could have been. But I'm exhausted and my mental state is such that I don't really think it's a good idea for me to go to the gym tonight. I can't get past looking at the gym as a way to "atone" for the eating I did previously. Which isn't good at all.

 

So in the meantime, I'm going to finish this challenge and maybe even start my next one.

 

Challenge Recap

 

Goal 1- 2 Workouts Per Week 

 

6/ 8 7 - 86%

 

+1 STR +2 STA +.5 DEX

 

I did okay with this. Not great, but I started to get the ball rolling on working out regularly again. Which is the main goal here- regular movement. I definitely prefer doing the bodyweight workout over the running (though I probably should bail on the heavy workout during the middle of the week this week >_>). I'm glad I tried starting that again.

 

Goal 2- Stretch 2 times a week

 

14/16 - 87.5%

 

+1 DEX +1 CHA

 

I really enjoy that I'm regaining a few little bits of my flexibility. It's a work in progress but it makes me happy that it's a thing again.

 

Goal 3- Cook tasty home made food twice a week

 

7/8 - 87.5%

 

+1 WIS +1 CON

 

This didn't work out as well as I'd hoped because I asked for help to make meals. So sometimes things slipped a little. But there's significant improvement and so much more homemade food happening. All improvements help.

 

Goal 4- Self Care 2 times a week

 

6/8 - 75%

 

+2 WIS +1 CHA


I was so bad about doing this. It honestly made me sad to realize how rare it was that I sat down and did something for myself. So I'm going to keep this as a goal until it's second nature to do nice things for myself. Today was the first time I've seriously tried to use it. I painted my nails because of my bad day. At least my nails look nice!

I'm sorry to hear you had a rough day...! Sending you a lot of support. You are loved and accepted just as you are, and you are free and capable to go after the goals you deserve. The dress is only a dress, and obviously can't contain your awesome self. It is hard, but the only way out is to keep being patient and kind with yourself - I struggle with this myself, but you seriously deserve to be kind and patient with yourself. You got this, and it's a whole new challenge ahead of us!

Thanks friend <3 I think being patient and kind to myself is my biggest difficulty these days. Most of the time I'm fairly comfortable with my day to day food choices, and I'm getting the exercising down. Now i just need to be patient on the bad days and love myself even then.

Off, I know those feels too.  I think really, all of us probably do!   That's why we love it here so much.      Pulling yourself back up from those moments is the real win, and it looks like you've already started off on that path!

 

New challenges coming bring a wave of fresh new motivation for me typically, hopefully the same for you?

 

And also, holy smokes, most of your goals were 87% success!  Uhhhh, that's seriously awesome!    And inspiring!    Really really!
