Wellllllllll, that sucked.

 

I fell off the face of the planet both goals and boards-wise in a way I haven't in awhile (unfortunately it's not the first time), and completely borked last challenge.

 

This cycle, I'm traveling, getting rid of all my shit, final packing and adulting, and relocating to a sandpit on the other side of the planet. Then dealing with adjusting there.

 

Longer list coming, but off the top of my head, here is what needs to happen before then:

 

Finish seeing family in NC

Get larger shipping box for last-minute items

Fill and ship that box with shit leftover from suitcases

Ship 2 picture tubes

Ship flag to uncle

Buy and ship goodies to 2 friends

Pack suitcases

Figure out whether sister needs baby blanket; buy yarn if so

Print new knitting project for plane

Make sure media is downloaded for plane

Grab magazine for plane

Switch usps address

Inform credit cards

Inform bank

Switch personal account from WF to USAA

Tell phone company

Cancel cable

Get final bill from apartment

Schedule cleaner for apartment

Get girlfriend to pick things up

Get guy friend to pick things up

Donate the rest or bring to trash room

Buy tix for bee gala

Schedule 1 more owl cohort dinner

Send new contact info to friends & family

Continue updating YouTube

Try and not gain even more weight back

Attempt to not feel like poop from lack of exercise and sensible eating

Spend time with NYC friends

Get list of any last-minute things DH wants shipped over

@T2sarahconnor: you've been a wee bit busy. No worries!

I'm packing up to join my DH in Doha, Qatar. Leaving the US October 1, and have been traveling to say goodbye to family since the end of last month.

I'm currently in - apparently - the dead middle of NC (according to an article that was zero help finding something to do this afternoon, Sanford is the center of the state) visiting family I've chosen (and a little biological family, plus some inlaws).

I've been hugged within an inch of my life by a designated brother, had great intensive girl time with my bestie (+booze), and have been getting force-snuggled by this fattie:

Also got chased by dinosaurs and have had to have more arguments with them than one would think re: where they belong in relation to the house, my car, my body, etc.

At the moment, I've taken myself to Starbucks and may drive the countryside in advance of my dinner date with the SILs.

Yesterday:

Drove to Wilmington (2:30 away) for lunch with my cousin. Got caught in the rain, explored the downtown area, made a strange new old man on the street friend, and drove to the beach to take a pic of the water.

Also had to buy emergency flip flops, because wet tennies all day is gross.

Drive back to Raleigh for dinner with the parents in law.

Marveled that I could travel 100+ miles in 2:30, or get from Staten Island to the Bronx.

Weird.

Today, I'm off to wander downtown Raleigh for lunch, then meeting a high school friend for sushi.

It's not like you move to the other end of the world and deal with the loss of a beloved pet that often. Cut yoursef some slack, you had a lot on your plate last challenge.

Hello, all!

Crunch time got hella busy.

I’m in Doha, safe, I’ve unpacked, and finally went grocery shopping today.

Made my first meal only partially from items I’ve scrounged from the DH’s bachelor pantry - flank steak tacos with steak & half the spices purchased today.

Whoo. And I only had a mild panic attack about it.

I’m settling in - it’s great to be home with the DH; our existence has a wiener shaped hole; I signed up for 2 yoga classes, to volunteer at the rescue this Saturday, and to serve as a Drop-Off point for donations for maids who have escaped service.

I also made a loose coffee date with an attorney from the UK for tomorrow.

I miss wine and Trader Joe’s and easy grocery shopping.

I’ve uploaded 3 backlogged videos on the YouTubes - if you want to stay up-to-date with those, subscribe to my channel; I’m shit at remembering to post links.

Aaaaaaand now I can’t figure out how to link the channel from the app.



Hope you all are doing well - my sleep is still jacked so my schedule is all wonky and driving me nuts.

Accomplishment for the day:

The internet guy finally came!

He was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, and showed up today (Thursday) with 10 minutes’ notice.

Good thing my coffee date was postponed!

I’ve also written a recipe template for dinner tonight, picked up the house and straightened the sheets, caught up on POD posts, edited images for my weekly update video (this week will encapsulate my travel day), done a bunch of research on things, set things up to start loading videos to my Plex server, and ate Indian leftovers for lunch.

If you’re interested in that sort of thing, yesterday’s POD on the blog is a copy of my grocery receipt from yesterday - complete with USD equivalents. Mental note: fancy veg is expensive.
