Maybe this needs a little detail.

I have the wake-up-early-and-do-the-mobility habit down.  I'm going to step up my morning routine with sledgehammering.  It's my favorite workout and it'll get me ready for the Hammer Race.  Running is not my favorite workout, but it is a part of hammer racing and also cyclocross racing.  On the weekends I hope to be riding my bike, if I'm lucky Friday-Monday.  Biking is my thing, everything I do fitness-wise is either to keep me on the bike or to make me a better rider.

Also, I'm financially stupid.  I've identified the keystone habit for making wise, or at least not quite as stupid, decisions as knowing how much money I actually have.

So you're saying this Hammer Race is NOT about doing tequila shots and whoever falls down and can't get up first wins?

I just got home and the coroner was at the across the street neighbor's. My neighbor died, in her sleep according to the neighbors. She was younger than I am. We were friendly, but not really friends. Even still, it's all weird right now.

I looked into it.  It's few levels above where I'm at right now. One day. The big part of my money management is that I have my bank automatically transfer funds to Mrs. Sloth's acct every payday for mrtgage and house bills and to a savings account to cover our summer.  After that is done I know we'll be okay.  I cover the car, the phones, and some of the kid stuff, and have some spending money from what's left. It shouldn't be that hard to keep track of.

Yeah, that would kill me.  I actually went looking for it in a seedy liquor store to bring to nerd night. They kept their tacky liquor behind the counter and I was too embarrassed to ask if they had it.

Oh wow, sorry to hear that. Makes you realize how precious  this life is.

I think that's why it's weird for me.  Her husband died in his sleep a few years ago when he was the age I am now.  They were just normal people with no known illnesses.  I'm not ready to face my mortality quite yet.

Thanks.  I accidently got hammered last night.  I had one beer.  But it was a big bottle (20 oz, maybe a bit more), it was Belgian, it was dark, and apparently it was strong. I was sloshed after one and was incredibly hung over this morning. Ive got to be more careful in the future.

--------

This article is relevant to my life "Gut Problems for Cyclists..."  I've skimmed it; I owe it a closer read. It'll probably tell me to quit drinking Belgian beer.

This is step one in a three step series for becoming a financial wizard

The steps are

  1. Know how much money you make/have
  2. Know how much money you spend
  3. Keep 2 consistently less than 1 consistently more than 2 (this is where the wizardry part come in)

In the morning I'm going to hammer.

In the afternoon I'm going to balance my checkbook.

In the evenings I'm going to run (slow jog, slog, whatever)

On the weekends I get to ride my bike.

Nice and easy! Go get it. And again, good luck for the race this weekend.

Good luck hammering in the morning...all over this land

I'd say you should hammer out danger and warning, but I think you use your KB for that. Are you going to bring your hammer on your runs?? That would be cool but might scare the neighbors. But maybe they are used to seeing the tire get dragged around and wouldn't flinch (?)
