Hi world of fellow nerds, it's been a while. I've been meaning to join back in to get on track but life.

 

My last challenge was nearly a year ago, and though I've got some good habits well and truly ingrained (see below), my main problem is eating too much food because food tastes nice. I've been doing OK during the week at work, but toward the end of the week I'll go astray and then binge massively at the weekend. I've been attempting to move away from calorie counting as I don't want it to rule my life, but maybe getting back on it again will help put things in perspective.

 

Current things what I do anyway because of previous challenges, sometimes they aren't fully completed, but I reckon I'm 90+%

Working days:

- 20 press-ups with my feet on the bed

- 10 min jog around the block

- 3x10 dumbbell reps of two exercises (bicep curl + lat flies OR bent over rows + military press)

All days:

- 3 min squat while teeth brushing

 

So my challenge for this four weeks is going to be:

Exercise:

- Do all the work things in full at least 4x a week

- Do at least 10,000 steps a day (phone pedometer) at least 6x a week

Foods:

- Stay within calories at least 6x a week, and don't eat like a dick on the other day!

 

I'm aware I'm starting this a day late, apols for that. I'm hoping that posting it here (and with updates) will make me stick to it!

Great plan. I love the idea of squatting while you are brushing your teeth. I may have to try that.

Great plan. I love the idea of squatting while you are brushing your teeth. I may have to try that.

Day #1 success, and also from reading my last challenge, somewhere over the last year my 25 press ups dropped to 20, so I'm switching back up to 25 dammit!

Got off a tube stop early on the way to work for extra walking, and held the squat the full 3 mins (have been getting lazy of late)

Hooray for challenges making me a better person!

End of the week and I'm on track. Went over calories today but was still under around 2000 so shouldn't set me back.
Haven't quite manged the 10000 steps today (8600), but went over all the others.

Week one = pass

Week 2 progressing ok - man, keeping to the exercises is hard. I can see why I got into bad habits...
Calories going ok and it's McMillan cake day tomorrow plus leaving drinks so that's my over calorie day this week... I've got a two hour exercise class Saturday though so that'll make up for some of the damage!

Well done on week 1!  A two hour class sounds intense. What kind of exercise is it?

Thanks, it's hard to do but I've put the challenge online so I have to do it!

It's an afrobeats workshop - lots of dancing I suspect. I've been to her classes before and they can get quite intense... :S

End of week 2 check in, did all the exercises four times and reduced one day as I was short of time. One day over calories on Friday as planned but all the rest ok, so week 2 = pass

However, today I was off work sick with cold and sinusitis so I haven't done the exercise or counted calories. Hmm. Hopefully the day of rest will sort me out health-wise though.

Hope the cold didn't last long. Great job on week 2. This week I've squatted twice while brushing my teeth, thanks for the great idea.

Yes, nearly gone thankfully. And yeay to teeth brushing squat, glad you've found the idea useful :D

Week #3 summary: not ideal but could have been a lot worse!

Monday was sick day so didn't count and didn't exercise (I don't feel bad for this as I wanted to get better!)
I did a reduced run the rest of the week bcuz cold air, but did the dumbbells those four days, still did the squat every day and did over 10,000 steps all other days.
Calories weren't great, though I don't like under-eating calories when I'm ill.

I'm still going to count this week as a pass if I stick to everything in my final week, especially calories. Next week I'm in the states on training so I'm very unlikely to be able to stay under calories!

I agree it is smart to rest when you are sick. Great job at getting all those steps in!

I forgot to check in for the end of my challenge!
So I did all my full exercisey things through the week, and did 10,000 steps each day (including one where I got back out of bed to march around the house!)

I stayed under for calories each day Monday - Thursday and the end of the week was a bit funny because I flew to the states in the middle of the night Saturday /Sunday, so Friday was date night and Sunday was attempting to sleep on a plane!

All in all, I'm passing myself for this week, and therefore for the challenge. Huzzah to levelling up!

Now to hope I don't eat my bodyweight in cheese curds while I'm in Wisconsin... :D
