So...the Kettlebell Game, huh? What's this all about?

I've been planning my big return to fitness this week, ever since unearthing my old kettlebells from the bowels of my garage. I want to do it right, so I need a plan and something to keep me motivated.

I have 3 goals in mind: get in shape, stay motivated, and use this to help rein in other areas of my life, particularly diet.

The Kettlebell Game sprung into my mind when I resisted the urge to buy a Twix bar from the local 7-11. I was proud of myself and I liked that feeling, so I wanted to come up with a way to use it to increase my fitness regime.

The points system is just a quick way to track numbers. I'm going to increase the points required to read the next level in a Fibonacci sequence...1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, 8000, etc. This should allow me to have a challenging goal to strive for and also a reason to increase my kettlebell weigh as I level up.

Today is the first day and I'm already excited to start playing.

I've just done a quick workout to kick it off:

20 halos
20 rows
10 goblet squats
10 chest leans

Total score: 60 points.

Already looking forward to doing another when I get back home his afternoon!

Well, it's always a good day to start again. [emoji4]

Without meaning to de-gameify it, do you have a certain goal that you're meaning to get to? A program you mean to follow? Or is this more about showing up and doing something on an as-often-as-possible kind of basis?
Right now it's all about just doing something. I'll be working on my form while I do it and only counting proper moves though so there will be progress besides just lifting all the things. Once my base level of fitness is a bit more reasonable, I'll work out the next stage.

There's a kenjutsu dojo nearby that one of the local rebels put me on to...will likely end up there once I'm fit again.

Good to see you again Kishi!

No kettlebells yesterday, but I spent the morning helping set up the school fair, so probably did more lifting anyways.

This morning I did;

20 halos
20 rows
10 goblet squats
10 chest leans
10 front press

So 70 and I've got a temptation point, so 140 + 60 from Saturday = 200 points so far. It doesn't seem like a lot of exercise but I'm already feeling an energy boost and feel a bit stronger. Happy days :)

KB benefits are sneaky like that. You practice this thing over and over and you think, "Man, am I getting anywhere?" and then you do something easily that used to be hard.

Don't go looking for big benefits. Look for the small ones. They signal larger things.
That's good advice :) I've got a long view attitude about it at the moment so not expecting any over night dramatic changes. It's quite surprising that I'm feeling a difference already though!

So fitness-wise, today has been very good. I started off with my standard routine, and also added an extra 10 chest leans since i had the temptation point to spend. Too bad I was in a hurry, or I would have done more. So for this morning:

20 rows

10 halos

20 leans

10 squats

=60

x 2 for using my point

=120

x weight modifier (1.2)

= 144

But wait, there's more!

*ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED: Double Down (perform 2 identical workouts in a single day)*

I unexpectedly found myself home early today, so took advantage and did the whole workout again! So another:

20 rows

10 halos

20 leans

10 squats

=60 * 1.2 = 72

= 144 + 72

= 216

Plus existing balance

= 216 + 312

= 528

Happy days :)
