Taddea Zhaan: planking, not just for ships

Life is still pretty hectic right now, so this challenge is going to be simple and to the point.

1. Continue the cardio challenge. Every 60 min of cardio earns me $5. This is the save up for a camping vacation next summer. 

2. One side plank each night before bed. My coach has side planks in my program, but I can't really do them and it's embarrassing and I feel like I'm just faking it. >_> I'll report the plank times. My left side is weaker so I'll be reporting the time I can hold that weaker side. 

3. Edited & Added: post daily calorie totals

I struggle with side planks too! I struggle with the balance, not the core stability. (I struggle with that too, but I always topple much before my core becomes the limiter)

I forgot we started this challenge and haven't started my challenge... it's still zero week, right? Starting it officially today. And I have regular planks in my program for today, I'll just add side planks on afterwards. PLANKS ALL AROUND. YOU GET PLANK, YOU GET A PLANK, EVERYONE GETS A PLANK.

Mine is the strength to get my hips off off the ground. But I can tell that it actually finally improving. Once I get the hips up I can hold them for a bit, it's getting up part....  Do you do the full arm or on the elbow?

 on my hands/full arm.

I also find it harder if my feet are stacked vs. one foot in front of the other. It's even easier if you do it with back knee down and top one extended.

NEW DEVELOPMENTS. There was like a 50/50 chance I was gonna have surgery and now the doctors decided no, at least for now. But signs are looking good. So yesterday my coach's immediate reaction was "now we gotta get you signed up for a meet" >_>. I'm tentatively looking at April. And while this summer I was in the weight class I wanted to be in, I'm now 9# above that. So I'm adding daily calorie reports to this challenge. No judgement, no goal, just deposit the calorie count here, whether it is 1900 or 3000. For reference, my maintenance is around 2300.

P.S. Did 20 min of cardio yesterday and added to my camping tracking. Also did planks at the gym, so today will be my first day of having to remember to do them at home.

I might have to try out some of these ideas as a transition to legit side planks as I can only do a side plank for about 10 seconds at a time. (Up from like 5 seconds, ugh).

You are either going to be sorely disappointed about what this camping trip is or extremely excited. Mr T and I participate in some medieval groups and we are going to the big week long camping thing next year, about 12,000 people attend, so a small village/city pops up in the middle of a giant campground every summer for two weeks (but we'll only go to one).

Mebbe. It's probably 4-5 hours from SD to Taft. Only an hour and change from me to there. Perks of being central to southern california.

Thu Cals: 2041

Plank: forgot UGH why are new habits so hard. I'm going to double two sets of side planks tonight before I go to the gym for light treadmill hill work

 

Food is going to be an extra challenge this weekend. We are going to a halloween house party on Saturday and staying the night, which will thus devolve into brunch. My plan is to listen to my body. Too often at parties I keep eating snacks when I'm already full. I won't be able to track calories well, but if I stop when I feel satiated I won't do too much damage.

ETA: we had cheater beef stew for dinner last night and it was actually pretty great. Mr T threw in beef, carrots, celery, red potato and this bag of mix and it was easy breezy totall worth it for us while I'm having this crazy ass month. I thought it was going to come out thicker, but i'm totally happy with it being more like a stew. more food for the eatin'.
