Tuesday Cals: 2372 (maintenance)
Wednesday Cals: 2100

 

I still have to test trap bar DL on Saturday. It's not as important to me but I still don't want to be majorly cutting this week, so I'm thinking 2100 cals till Sunday. This will prove challenging tonight because we are going to the bar for horror movie trivia. Plan is to have soup for lunch and try to fill up on that. I'm making ground turkey sloppy joes for dinner with roasted cauliflower. Mr T said the plan is to just order appetizer at the bar. After I post this I'll start entering shit into MFP and make a solid plan.

Wednesday Workout:

DEADLIFT TEST! First test at 200# went up pretty well. He asked me if I wanted to do 210 and I wasn't that confident so we went for 205# and I got that. YAY 10# deadlift PR! I stopped there because it was pretty slow and I don't want to hurt myself or pass out for a BB club PR. Coach agreed form was breaking down at 205#, so we good. 

 

Cardio: 20 min elliptical 

Side Planks: up to 15 seconds per side and I don't need as much help from my right arm getting my weaker side into position than I did two weeks ago, almost none!

Weekend report.

Ate too much salt but calories were at/below maintenance. Did the trap bar test on Saturday, 220#. Watched 5 episodes of Stranger Things with Mr T and my sister. Sunday I went for a 60 min hike/adventure. Then I met up with an old friend I haven't seen in a while and a few others and we played arcade games at Chuck E Cheese for our birthdays. I had a blast!

It feels weirdly like I've been gone from  the forum for a month instead of a week. I don't know what it is about work travel that feels like a time suck.

This challenge is kind of all over the place but I'm working on getting back on track this week. Unfortunately I'm not currently doing daily side planks because they are aggravating a shoulder problem. They are however still in my program 1x week. But cardio and calories are on the table. Additionally I need a sugar detox from my week down south, so I'm doing no desserts until turkey day. Which for those of you from outside the country is in two weeks, Nov 23. Calories also need to trend back down to 2,000. 

 

Monday Calories: 2,224

Squat

Set 1: 65 lb × 3

Set 2: 95 lb × 2

Set 3: 115 lb × 5

Set 4: 115 lb × 5

(I thought I was going to die, so depth might have been a bit off. I'll reign it in for volume squats on Saturday and then be ready for full depth heavy AF squats next Monday.)

 

Bench Press

Set 1: 65 lb × 5

Set 2: 65 lb × 5

Set 3: 65 lb × 5

Set 4: 65 lb × 5

(easy peasy, I did make a point to point out to him that his squats nearly crushed me like a crippled pancake and while bench was easy. He asked me if they "were crippling like you couldn't do the reps or crippling like extraordinarily difficult?" >_> When I said I nearly failed the last rep of every squat set, I think there was that coaching glint in his eye. )

 

Bulgarian Split Squat

Set 1: 17.5 lb × 5

Back from the dead AGAIN! 

 

I woke up Thursday morning with my right trap muscle seized up and in a spasm all the way up my neck. By Friday it was too painful to swallow. I went to urgent care. They gave me what turned out to be a wimpy drug and I had to go back Saturday for something stronger.

The muscle appears to finally have released after much narcotics and heating pads.

But now my upper back is amazingly sore from being seized up for so long. It is still  uncomfortable to swallow, but not too bad. 

 

I think it's improving rapidly at this point, but the plan is no exercise until Saturday.

aw, man TZ. it seemed like you had caught a break there for a while with no injuries! i hope it heals up soon. focus on other things this week to keep your mind of the tempting barbell ;)

We had already started Mist on Netlifx, which we are both enjoying. But decided we needed a comedy to alternate with, so we started Love and it's hilarious. Highly recommend if you need a low pressure weeknight show to add to the mix.

Thanks! It's feeling a lot better today. Some discomfort while swallowing and trap tightness, but a major improvement. Which is good because I love love love eating.
